Sometimes I wish I spoke the same language as you. I still have those little flash cards! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Avulsed the ulnar collateral ligament of my right thumb after falling back on my hands during a landing (had less than 100 jumps). X-rayed it myself at work the next day....surgery a few days later. Completely healed with only a very minor scar. Nothing since then. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Rdutch, You might have read this from 4way.org? Player/Coach Debate Some valid points made here. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Never had a problem with carrying my rig on with me except the time I got asked to open my gear bag because there was something they couldn't see through! That something was my weight vest! They looked at it, understood (I'm 5'10" and only 135#), and waved me through. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Well....perhaps you've heard of perpetual motion? You know how cats always land on their feet. And buttered bread always lands buttered side down. Just strap that buttered bread, buttered side down, on the cat's belly and he'll never land! Hence perpetual motion! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Reply TomAiello Then Christoofar reply As an AFFI, I'd like to see my student's face. Expression of the eyes can tell an instructor alot about his/her student's state of mind. In the plane. In the door. During the freefall. In my opinion a full face helmet detracts significantly from this tool. In addition, another added input to an already overloaded student's mind wouldn't calm them but would be something that would perchance overload them (especially on their very first jump). However, for experienced skydivers who want to play with a new bitchin' toy, this would be fun at times!

Impressive. Has anyone else seen this new gadget? Pics when you can, miller!

I had to laugh at myself when I read this post, PLFXpert. I used to comb over every transaction when there was even .02 difference in the totals. Since I've started skydiving I adopted a different, more relaxed approach of just writing a "ms" in the register and making the change without all the 'trauma'. "ms"? "mistake somewhere"! and I'd move on. (now large inaccuracies....still have the need to find those...and always do (eventually).

Don't forget about the inner ear fluids as well. Once they get all screwed up from an abrupt change in gravity force (continuous spiraling), they can react violently with vertigo and resultant nauseousness! Glad you did this high up! I witnessed a very experienced skydiver, playing this way under canopy until too low. He righted himself in time, but the vertigo (it was determined later) made him unable to judge distance and flare correctly. He's no longer with us. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Just got back from seeing it myself. Couldn't explain the skysurfing scene either and came away with this same premise. The -only- reason that stunt looked so 'amaturish' was that he's never done it before! Never thought about the 'turbulance' being a factor when the pilot mentioned it from the cockpit. Hmmmm....(wonder what the line was that was cut?). You're right, quade! 007 move over! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Yep. Thanks Paul for bringing clarification to the thread. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Have fun, John! I went to my 20th this year as well. Wow, was it both interesting and weird to see how we'd all changed. What was especially fun was seeing the expressions on my classmate's faces when my time came to relay what I was up to! Little 'ol me that was a complete bookworm turned into a 'crazy fool' who jumps out of airplanes! And LOVES it! Hee Hee Hee Hee! Their look (and jealousy for my freedom) was priceless...

I almost forgot about this part. Actually, I need some help here from the videographers that lurk this forum. At Perris we have always tried to protect the videographers that work hard to make us look good in the air. Standard skydiving video is normally shot for private enjoyment, not for broadcast. We have always asked that skydivers wishing to use video for broadcast purposes seek permission from the videographer prior to broadcast. In some cases that can also mean some form of compensation. What Michele had stated in the pre-production meeting was that she was going to give the producers footage from some of her fun skydives. When I asked her about the right to be able to do that her comment was, "I paid for them, they are mine and I can do anything I want with them". I was trying to protect the videographers involved. I am asking videographers how they would feel about having their footage used in a situation like this, without their knowledge, permission and without compensation. Perhaps I am overstepping my role as a general manager in doing this, but I do want to see ALL parties at our DZ treated fairly. Any opinions? Thank you Jack. Sorry Michele but Jack is 100% correct on this one. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

After hearing what an incredible man Harry was, and seeing all the love between his friends during the memorial skydives at Perris, this is very fitting. Glad to know the entertainment industry feels the same. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Wow! Don't know many 14 year olds that have THAT kind of money in their back pocket! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Actually, let's not take our eyes off the ball too quickly... there are people out there who's lives have just been changed forever by the loss of someone they loved. So what that he / she wasn't a skydiver or (allegedly) did something we perceive as not smart? You can quote me on this: I'll rather not skydive than loose my compassion. Thank you for this post, HH. I agree that all deserve support in their grief. My condolences go out to this photographer's friends and family. I hope all at the WFFC extend the love beyond our circle and show compassion and inclusion towards them. We ask the same of wuffo's when someone we love goes it. Let's extend the same back to them. Good for you! Yes, it's scarey! Been there before myself with life changing experiences as well. Looking back, I'm sure glad I didn't ball up into a hermit and let the life pass by! (wanted to though). Take focus. Make decisions. Take action. Otherwise you -will- look back on life and wonder 'what if' and be sorry you didn't try. (And age has nothing to do with it. Lots of people have changed later in life and were very happy to have finally realized their dream and were finally happy.) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Yep! No debate anymore!! The full rez version...yes, that'll be cool to view! Wonder when the team will be coming home again (to Perris)? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Hey, wait a minute, Michele! Haven't I offered to take you up on more than one occasion? As has several members of my team? Sorry you've had a hard time with the L/O crowd, but count yourself lucky to not be there on some of their 'funnel-ways' that kinda scare us video people when we look through the lens. I remember as a newbie I was a bit hurt by a new 'friend' who skydived with me twice, then counseled me to do 2-ways until I could turn 20 points. Only then, did he say, should I attempt anything bigger. I was hurt, yeah, but looking back on it, it was solid advice. I got my just rewards, though, when this same guy showed up 5 years later (just recently) and now HE was the lower-time jumper!

GEEZE, that makes it sound like I've asked and struck out! (Come to think of it, there was a conversation about cameras at one point wasn't there? As in, "ain't never gonna happen!") Naw....didn't want to bring up the camera-angle...but since you asked (two cameraflyers...whatya gonna do? ) ltdiver (clarification...knows that I don't swing that way with the women. I've found some fun stickers at skateboard and scuba shops. Also, if you want custom ones, you can find those vinyl cutters in the mall who do any sign you'd like. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
