New news, just today.

how long were you jumping before your first reserve ride?
ltdiver replied to jtval's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Wonder if other 'yet-to-experience-a-cutaway' skydivers feel this way as well. Especially those with over 1,000 jumps to their name. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Oops. Error while typing yesterday! Its the Gatorz who lose their frame warranty when you get prescription lenses installed. Oakleys keep their 1 year normal warranty, even with prescription lenses installed. On this information, I ordered the Oakley Minutes today. I'll be able to post my own impressions after getting them in the air. The Gatorz look cool....wear well....and might be a pair in the future. Depends on how the Minutes pan out. We'll see. Thanks all for your help! Keep posting here, as the more information will help others as well. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Just heard on the news tonight that Joe Jennings will be featured on KCAL Los Angeles (channel 9, here) tomorrow night (Thursday) at 9pm PST. Not sure of the depth or length, but should be interesting. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Subject : Perpetual Motion When a cat is dropped, it always lands on its feet, and when toast is dropped, it always lands buttered side down. Therefore, a slice of buttered toast is strapped to a cat’s back, buttered side up, and then the animal is dropped. The two opposing forces will cause it to hover, spinning inches above the ground. If enough toast-laden felines were used, they could be used as the basis of a high-speed monorail system. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Looks like they found some reds Minutes in the back today. I'm still deciding. I really don't like the fact that I lose the warranty of the frame when getting prescription lenses. btw, in my correspondence between the 2 companies, they both use the same polycarbonate lens with prescriptions. Both can be colored. Lens warranties are 1 year for Oakley and Gatorz's contracted lens grinder puts this in their info letter: "CNC Lens Warranty policy is consistent with policies offered at traditional eyecare facilities." I'll have to contact them to find out what exactly this is! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Less creative and fun post here. Try THIS or THIS, Mar.

It's a better color for a woman anyway. . Ya know, bub....the -only- thing I have in pink is a very valuable jumpsuit. Other than that....yeak! Anyone know where I might pick up some red framed Batrays, other than the manufacturer (since they're out and aren't making that color anymore)? They -do- have the "Shadow" frame in red, but I don't have the ability to try them under my helmet. They aren't at Square One. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Great replies, guys!! Thanks! I'm even leaning towards the red frames, too! I've called Gatorz and yes, they have you send out to a special service provider for the prescription lenses. They vouch for her work. However, when the Gatorz are altered by doing this (changing the lenses out) it completely voids the warranty. They sent me some more information by e-mail, so I'll have to look it over later. (too late tonight....just got home from the movies...."Mr. and Mrs. Smith". Great flick!) I completely understand about the rounded ear pieces on the Oakleys being a problem. I -can't- wear those kind under my snugged down camera helmet. OUCH! They -do- however feel o.k. under the Mamba. One kink in the system found today, though. They've stopped making red frames for the Gatorz Batray!! They offered me [p]PINK[/p], though! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

So, if you can't wear Gatorz and don't like Oakleys....which sunglasses -do- you find you can use? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

What happened to his skydiving and plane flying?! Not fast enough for him?! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I SO wish that I could just grab a pair of sunglasses off the shelf and have at it. I need prescription, thus the expense. I envy you! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Thanks for all the excellent replies so far today! It's almost a virtual tie between the Minutes and the Batray right now. 6:5. I'm hearing really nice things about the Minutes, however....whoever's voting for the Gatorz isn't letting me know -why- they are voting for them. :^( I'd like to know what's so great about the Gatorz as well! Also, in doing a search I found that a few people -are- putting sunglasses under a full face, but those posts were clear back in 2001-2002. I'd like to hear more about the issue currently as well. :^) And about the polarization. I, personally, wasn't going to get the polarized lens...for reasons stated above. It was interesting to hear, however, how much people love them (outside of skydiving), though! Keep it coming, guys! The more information the better! :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Yeah, the tinted goggles and Mind Warp is what I've been using for the past couple of years. Works great. However, since I'll be front floater in the left, rear rear trail plane in JFTC (read: looking -over- the plane at the Sky Van), I thought a full face might be nice. 3 years ago on JFTC 2002 it was Butt COLD on some of the jumps. I was a middle floater and froze out there....now with a front float position I want a little face protection this time around!

Do you jump the 2 together? If so, have you had any problem with fogging on the glasses' lens? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

The RS60-E3 remote switch uses a standard 2.5 mm (submini) audio head. This is on the 300D and 350D. The RS60-N3 uses the proprietary canon connector that requires an adapter. This is on the 10D and 20D. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
