"FS" means "Formation Skydiving". Congratulations to Freeflying Team USA, though! Go Anomaly!

First scores are in! Let's look at our swoop participants!

30 feet away on a semi-rainy day at summer camp. One group of kids had just left and another was on the way up the mountain to our center. Staff outside. Staff inside. The bolt hit right beside my friend who ran in with the smell of smoke still clinging to her! Shook the whole house and flashed a HOT feeling throughout everyone! Then just this last year, for those of you who know Shirley Pelland (fixes jumpsuits for us all at Perris and Elsinore). She had a lightning bolt come right through her hot water heater into her house....5 feet behind where she was sitting in the kitchen! It burst the water line and flooded the area, but the water kept the fire at bay right there -in-the-water heater's-gas-flame! Only good thing was it toasted all her electronic equipment and the water damaged her house.....she got everything covered by insurance and got a complete redecorating job done on her house! Plus a new computer, tv, etc.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Several years ago I saw a guy dislocate a shoulder on opening (during a BASE accuracy contest, no less). He was able to get both toggles in one hand and steer in to land in the circle. I don't know that I'd recommend it as a long term solution, but with a sufficiently docile canopy, it's possible. Yes, it is possible in emergency situations, however as a plan of attack on -every- skydive I'd discourage it. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I know 3 people who've had a Spectre open hard enough to serious fuck them up. Skybytch is just one of those people. Any canopy can (and will!) occaisionally open hard. Somebody who's depending on soft openings should do more than simply jumping a spectre. _Am Guess I shouldn't speak in absolutes. quade summed my thoughts up here quite well. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Left hand deployment. SOS system for cutaway/reserve. However, can't imagine how he would effectively steer and flare for landing. :^( ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Not to feed the troll....but it was quite easy (though discouraged) to make cell phone calls from a plane in flight before Bill came up with his new device. How do I know....well, I've done it. :^) What Bill came up with was something to make your calls not interfere with those on the -ground-. (and to help another company make a profit ;^) ). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Ah....I've seen (and felt) the heavy set-up that O.B. wears on occasion. Yes, Yes I see exactly where you are coming from in relation to that and wanting to tame whatever beast is in the end of the Spectre opening. I know what you mean. Thanks for the clarification. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Nope. The vilest 'food' I ever ate (in the dark, no less) was the little 'jelly bean' candy that came in the kid's candy box (with the kid's meal) for the "Harry Potter" movie. Yeak! Gag! Spew! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Not to hijack this thread, but in browsing some of the other events there this year I saw this: Egads....are there people out there who really -like- the way this looks on a woman? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Yep! http://archives.cnn.com/2002/US/West/09/18/offbeat.twinkie.reut/ and http://www.fox13.com/recipes/twinkie.htm Enjoy! :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

How to wear sunglasses properly when Skydiving..?
ltdiver replied to partyboy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
yeah, I know, I know....I'm just the camera-team-member.... Nobody looks at us anyway.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
Other than the fact that dacron 'gives' with line-stretch...making it a more slow and comfortable opening (for any canopy), why would you want to have that instead of the normal spectra lines? A Spectre canopy opens just fine the way it is. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Ron, All of these issues (and potential 'fixes') were brought up by FS competitors after Nationals's RW section of the competition was over. All were invited to hear some concerns over this discipline and alot spoke up with opinions. Yes, I too believe that some of these items are out-landish. It will be interesting to hear what the BOD thinks of them. The ideas came directly from current competitors. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Best place in Titusville tu watch shuttle launch?
ltdiver replied to freeflyfree's topic in The Bonfire
Sorry that it got postponed. Have they set a new launch date? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
Yeah, sucks, doesn't it. Wonder if any of the other seasoned skydivers knew him. I thought about e-mailing Pat Works but he's changed his address. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

What audio mode are you in? 12 bit or 16 bit? I bet that one is set up in 16 and the other in 12. This can cause similar symptoms like what you are describing. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I also got the days off from work (August 4-8), so they better confirm that first trip's dates. :^) Honestly, if they had to choose just one trip, I'm thinking that it would be the first weekend of the convention, not the second. I'll send an e-mail and see. Be back when I've heard.... :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
