So at the dropzone this morning a jumper shows up and checks in with manifest. the person working manifest at the time was the dz manager/S&TA. The manager finds out that this jumper has shown up with a borrowed rig from someone jumper is dating from a neigboring dropzone..no problem.....then we find out it's got a 120 stilleto!!! The manager said no way are you jumping that here. then the usual questions were asked.. who gave it you, where do you usually jump, what were your other canopies before this one? these questions were answered and we then talked to the jumper about all the reasons for not jumping this canopy.. the jumper felt bad about having jumped it when it wasn't the jumpers fault. End result, i lent the jumper my rig with a 150 spectre after asking the jumpers weight, 105 lbs, no gear. this jumper does not get on this site and i would like to give this jumper more feedback than they have gotten from my dz, just to show that this is not just the opinion our dz since the dz that the jumper did the previous jumps at didn't think it would be a problem to be on this canopy. could you respond with what you would say to this jumper if you had been in manifest and first hearing about this........thanks.....your responses will be of great benefit to this jumper.... i'm leaving the names of the innocent ommited for their protection...

So at Skydive South Beach yesterday there were a few unusual things that happened during the day. One, the winds were unusually high, gusts to 20 or so which i haven't seen there but one other time. So in usual fashion everybody sat around talking and watching videos while the staff tended to their dz improvement projects. just as everybody admitted defeat and gave up waiting for the winds to die down, Michelle, the DZ manager, came up with a great idea. She said " why don't we all fly down to the Keys for some dinner and drinks?" The CFO agreed to the idea and it was a done deal. Mickey the pilot figured up the cost of the fuel to be $30 per person round trip and we were on the plane 30 minutes later. 16 of us with couch pillows, cameras, and other stuff climbed on and headed for West Palm. We flew into PBI to pickup my girlfriend so i could keep my balls. I knew if I went without her while she was hanging out in West Palm doing errands, I might be speaking in a higher tone right now. We picked her up and flew to Key West. The plane ride was incredibly scenic with the everglades below us and flying into the Keys with the sunset on one side of us and the full moon to the other side. The plane ride was very fun, you had to be there. We got in with still some light left and got a cab. With the temperature around 80 at night, it was very comfortable. We all ate and drank at Sloppy Joes and bar hopped a little. A little over 3 hours later we met back and reversed direction. There was some talk that it may happen again from time to time if the weather decides not to be cooperative....but that isn't very often. I hope this doesn't upset too many people up north this time of the year... If it does, contact your airline and book a ticket and come jumps with us. I'm sure anyone dealing with snow or ice could use a break right now.... I might post a few picks later.

PD's are great canopies. The Sabre2 flies well, but is more ground hungry than the Safire2. The Safire2 opens like a wet dream as most Icarus canopies. Dont cheat yourself out of giving an airlocked a try before you make up your mind. The Lotus is a spectacular canopy and in my mind, out performs the other 2. I have had all three, and with everything being equal performance wise, why not get an airlocked? 0.02. Edit to add: If you haven't jumped anything smaller than that 175 regularly, dont go as small as 135. Your just beggin for trouble. Stick with the 150 range.

Hey, do you know what ever happened to the last years Boogie video? Did that ever get produced?

if you are upset about the fees this year i guess you'll have to resort to calling up the . . . Please use PM's for stuff like this. It is not appropriate in an open forum.

i attended last years convention and stayed in the rv park. i forked over the absurd amount of money at the time since it was a last minute decision. this year i've had a little more time to find out the scoop on the charges for the campground. for you that dont' know, to stay in the campground for the entire convention is $295. this is for a sewer, water, and elec hookup. i did a little research with the person in charge of taking reservations for this campground all year long except during the convention. she explained to me that the first year rantoul agreed to give the convention full control over the campground along with all of the commisions. this year was a little different. the city of rantoul wanted to control the campground and keep the income from the event camping. this didn't happen. the wffc flexed their muscle and got control of the campground once again. when i was talking to her about this years arangements, she was not pleased about the outcome. this is not what my beef is. fact is that if you call and make a reservation at this same campground any other time of the year besides the convention, you will pay $15 a day or $75 per week. our BARGAIN price for the entire convention is $295. a 400% markup, right into the pocket of the wffc. i wouldn't have that big of a problem if tickets were $13 like at the holiday boogie, but they're $19. i'm still going to pay for this extorsion, i'm just going to have to charge for any guests. anyone else have a problem with this?

i saw your video this morning with my T1 connection and i must say that for a first video you did ok. i take it that by your jump numbers you must be the one wearing those stylish denim freefly pants and the rainbow rig. i have a few comments. i noticed that your video was carefully edited when it came time for you to be in the spotlight. you must have left an hour of video on the cutting room floor of you corking in your sit. my suggestion, don't spend so much time worrying about your precious production efforts and the title you've given yourself, and instead use that time to study on how you're going to improve your sit or how your going to get the money to buy some relaxed denim with the bellbottom legs to create more drag. i would suggest some wranglers, black preferably.

i came from CA and know the area well. What i don't know is the dz's. i know i'm going to have to do some RW in the bay area. what dz would you recommend that's close to the oakland side of the bay and still on the must visit list?

my home dz is in the denver area so i know about the faster landings. went through AFF there so it's not really that the landings are fast, more that the landings everywhere else are slow..: ) longmont is getting an otter in April along with keeping the King Air.

As a member of the colorado skydiving community and soon to be learning BASE myself I am not only embarrased at the posting of the article but disgusted also. Not just this HIGHLY edited portion but also the barbaric original version. What does one hope to accomplish by this message? It's clear that the author must have the knowledge of who the person is and is trying to start some shit. This person wants the person to be safe yet they threaten them with harm? Then they hide behind the moderator who didn't use enough judgement to ignore the message. If one hopes to help someone be safe there are other ways to go about it besides posting on the internet....

on April 5th i am embarking on a one year tour of the states where i am going to visit as many dz's as there is time along with seeing the many sites around our beautiful country. what i would like to know is what some of your favorite dz's are and for what reasons you like them. it would also be helpful if they had RV facilities and freefliers to jump with. jump prices and the usual specials would be good info along with on of the most important pieces of info, the jump plane. if you could let me know the days of operation and maybe even a link that would be great. i plan on seeing almost all of the states in no specific order. my only plans are sebastian, skydive chicago, chicagoland skydiving, lost prarie, rantoul, and eloy for the holiday boogie. any of your thought would be welcome and if you know anyone who's done this before i'd love to talk to them.... thanks...
