Sounds like a 30-35 minute drive, much better than I anticipated. If some are considering coming and would need a ride from the airport, I'm sure this can be arranged. Just email me at jimbharris@gmail.com and we'll get you a ride. We've already got some really good flyers coming to this event. Should be fun....

I believe Philadelphia is the closest. (PHL) is about an hour from the dz, I could be off a little.....j

I'd like to thank everyone that came out for this event. In all we had 18 people get coaching, doing a total of 26 coach jumps. We went all day and everyone seemed to have a great time. Thanks to everyone for coming out and hangin' in Sebastian.....jim -
Sebastian offers a day of free freefly coaching

Tommorow's the day. We've got a keg for all to enjoy Saturday evening and will also have a Q&A regarding anything freeflying related. Hope to see some new faces along with the usual............j -
So you say freeflying is a lot more challenging and the learning curb or curve is slower. I'll agree. But then you say freeflying is to RW as snowboarding is to skiing. You obviously don't have a clue because skiing is the more challenging of those 2 sports with a slower learning curve. You can pick up boarding in a day, not so with skiing. Does anyone know where I can get some cargo shorts? I've done it all wrong and must start over.

Sebastian offers a day of free freefly coaching

Well I can guess who ISN'T coming to our coaching day -
Glad to see other dropzones doing this kind of thing. There is a similar day happening at Skydive Sebastian on May 13th. 3 members of Sebastian 5, a new VRW team, will be coaching all day at no cost to the students. All jumps will be like ordinary coaching dives with a prejump brief, jump with video and signals, and a post jump debrief with the video. The cost to the student is their slot only... There are more details in the thread located in the "Events and places to jump" forum. I tried to post it here also but you know how those moderators like to flex their muscle......

Sebastian offers a day of free freefly coaching
freefli replied to freefli's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Free Coaching on Saturday, May 13th by the Sebastian Five Freefly Team! Jim Harris, Jason Jerusalem and Sean Hennessy from the Freefly Team Sebastian Five will be holding a "free coaching day" on Saturday, May 13, 2006. The one day event will be open to all levels of freeflyers interested in coaching jumps to improve their freefly skills. There is no registration fee or other sign-up expenses. The team members will be available to all participating students at no cost other than the student's own jump ticket. Every coached jump will include a pre-jump briefing, video during the jump and a video debrief following each jump. Sign up for coached jumps when you first get to the DZ and the team members will assign loads to each students coach jumps so the student can organize his other jumps around the coaching schedule. The coaching throughout the day is free but any tips grateful skydivers give the team members will be used to support Sebastian Five training. The team members will also be available Sunday for any students who want continue their coaching at the team's regular coaching rates further contributing to the teams training budget. check out www.skydiveseb.com -
"organized by Chris Hayes and Jimmy Tranter" They are organizing this event, on their own, with the help of Skydive Deland.

This message was just sent to me and I thought I would put it out there for a broader audience. This is a reminder about the big-ways at Skydive DeLand. The event is April 1 & 2, with an optional “practice” day on Friday, March 31. There is a pretty good list of talented flyers already, but we need everyone to show up to make this happen, so please try your best to make it. If you are traveiing during this time and will be in the area, try and make it over to Deland. If you think you might be up to the task, make it over to Deland. Costs are; $30 registration $22 slots to 13500 $25 slots to 15000 We are planning for five jumps per day or until we build the formation, organized by Chris Hayes and Jimmy Tranter. We will use the Skyvan as our priority aircraft and will use one of the big T hangars with the big screen TV in it for debriefing. The DZ will also donate a keg of beer for Saturday night!

i had the same thing happen to me after buying 2 strobofames from a seller on ebay. i emailed him back and he's sending me a new one, without even wanting to see the broken one. he said it would be a waste of my money to send him the broken one. he's sending me a brand new one in return. i bought 2, the first for $49 and the second for $39 when i bought 2. below is the link to the auction i bought from. seems to be a good deal and good service.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7530192469&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Convince me to visit your dz for a week!!
freefli replied to WrongWay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
have you considered mile hi in denver? 1. weather is awesome 2. jumps under $23 to 12,500 3. tunnel will be here in 6 months, so they say 4. plenty of hotels in the area 5. camping on gravel is you choose 6. plenty of self organizing choice is yours, isn't it obvious -
has anyone had any experience using win mx? it's a peer to peer program....

how about b+w filters? they definetely are a little higher priced, is it worth it? they also say they don't have threads on the outside so does that mean i can't put the cheaper uv filter on the outside?
-
there are so many difeerent types of those lens. wide, thin, ultra thin. does it matter? and how about brand, are there some you'd stay away from?
-
so what are the opinions on using a filter on your still setups? seems like it would be a cheap form of insurance against damage but i'm overwhelmed at the choices out there. have any suggestions for a 16-35mm canon lens on a 20d? thanks...

Difficulty with chest strap after opening....
freefli replied to WrongWay's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
it's quite simple to relieve the tensions on your chest strap without using your hands at all, leaving them free to undo the strap. use your shoulders and upper arms to squeeze the mud flaps together, giving you slack to use your hands to undo the loose strap. you could just use your hook knife too.......jim -
the reason there is a 4 month waiting period is Nancy's suits have become the new industry standard to which suits are being measured to and nobody comes close. just take a minute and look at the attention to detail she puts in every suit, they're built well. It's really worth the wait. Put your order in now and take your time working on the design......

Thanks for the info. that's exactly what i was looking for. so i know i need a bite switch and i thought i also needed a mono remote switch to plug into the camera. i have a few more questions now.... 1.the 3.5 stereo plug that you use will work with this system since it's not mono? 2. do i wire the bite switch to the 3.5 without using any other components? 3. would you suggest using one of those focus switchs you have if shotting a 20d with a sigma 15? 4. lastly, where would you pick up a 90 degree plug and the 3.5? Radio shack or a camera shop? sorry for the amateur questions but i'm new to the whole wiring switch thing....

so i'm putting together a camera helmet with a 20d top mounted. i want the top to be clean when the 20d is not being used. what do people use as the connector that's mounted in the helmet so there's no exterior wires. i guess it's a coupler but i'm not sure. hope my question is clear enough.....pictures would be great....

please post your thoughts about the fit and construction and design of your illusion. it's going to be my next helmet and i'm curious to hear what others think of it..........
