For those who can't figure it out, you may want to mention where the boogie is going to be at.
-
no, that's not the dealn nor does it have anything to do with the question i put out there. Jax is close for people who will be at PIA and don't have a lot of time to travel. thanks for letting me know about the foam.....
-
in the other thread regarding the PAC, ST. Mary's states AGAIN that the PAC will be there from the 13-16th. does this mean Jax has it after that? what's the deal here?

Dave, from what i know the answer you're looking for is around 2.0- 2.2. closer to the lower loading is better since you can add weights to achieve the higher, whether you're going for speed or distance. having answered the q, i have a couple of things to say that the others have stated. I don't know how it works over in Israel, but here in the states there is a little cool factor in jumping a crossbraced. but falling into this belief is just stupid. i jumped crossfire 2's until i was extremely proficient in doing whatever i wanted to do. i mastered hooking in a 90, then 180, then 270's. after having been able to do each turn and have the canopy plane out on it's own exactly at the height i wanted, i then progressed to landing it using rears. the reason i progressed to this point on an elliptical is that it can be much more forgiving if i made a mistake during my progression. it was also easier to learn these skills on an elliptical rather than a crossbraced. i then jumped a crossbraced at over 1000 jumps and i was still scared. it took some time adapting to the new shape of the canopy but but with the skills i had learned on the elliptical, i adapted. i would never think of trying to learn those skills starting on a crossbraced, nor would i ever recommend it, which is what everyone is telling you. if you are really serious about swooping or going to a high performance canopy, you should take a class from a highly trained pro, some of them have been mentioned in this thread. think about this, you girlfriend cuts herself and you think, i know enough to take care of this. so you whip out a bandaid, or if it's bad, you break out the crazy glue or stiches if your really cheap. would you actually perform surgery to repair a lacerated artery or a punctured lung without the proper training, just cause you saw it on TV?

well everyone seems to e getting in a comment aout your pretty pic so i will to.....wooooooooeeeee... hey wait........is that my rig?........is that my canopy? You f'ing poser. can't you use your own gear? luv to jump with you someday again...........jim

1st Annual M.O.A.B. Boogie! Mother Of All Boogies
freefli replied to clint's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Try pulling that thumb out of your ass and hitching a ride from one of those freak latter day saints. you couldn't ask for a safer state to thumb it in. the worst that will happen is a couple of women pick you up and ask you to be the husband of both of them. you're on your own, deal with it. or did mom tell you to call the big brother to fix things??? -
1st Annual M.O.A.B. Boogie! Mother Of All Boogies

Sent in my pre-registration today. Hope it helps bring the otter. But I firmly believe a qoute from the movie "Field of Dreams" applies to this situation. IF YOU BRING IT, THEY WILL COME..... -
great story dave. here is another..... Back in december I was in z'hills going through my AFF certification course at the same time my 2 new Wings were being finished. I went to the factory during some weather to check on the progress. I find out that someone who no longer works there made a mistake and both were being made EXT. This is not at all what I wanted and one of the rigs was complete. I brought this to Henri's attention and he said, "Well I guess there is only one thing we can do, make you 2 new rigs." He then asked me if I wouldn't mind if someone would own the EXT's that were made, being that they were of a team color. I said not at all. 4 business days later I had 2 new rigs!!!! 4 DAYS!!!!! Not only is their customer service 100 times better than the company down the street, so is their product. I'm happy.........jim edited because my Enlish no good

Talked to TJ today and he'll be airworthy by then....let's go. just get airfare and you can stay in my cabin.....do it mister vertifly............j edited to add.............or come out to Mile Hi and jump when we've got our skyvan boogie......ya it's a big deal for us....come seee what that POS crossfire 1 will do at 5100 feet landing elevation........j -
it's not the most hideous photo, JUST FUCKING BORING. Same thing as June's photo, a boring exit shot, whooopideeedooofuckingdoo. Same photographer if no one bothered to notice. Flip through the July issue and find a tiny little shot of a multi level hybrid. Now that was cool and incorporated both disciplines of freefall and i'm sure most people haven't seen a pic of it before. Instead we get a pics of exits, how original.....wake when there is a good one...

denise, i'd be happy to jump with you several times if you end up going to mullins for his 3 days for $249. come on people, how can you possibly even touch that? i plan on doing 10 a day. in case your calculator is broken, 10 a day for 3 days at $249= $8.30 per jump. try to get that for even a hop n pop anywhere. hope you show, i can make room in my 35' 5th for you....any q's?

i've transitioned to using rears on landings about 100 jumps ago on my current xf2 109. i was fearful at first of going to them but found that the transition was a lot easier than i expected. before using them on the ground i did play with them a bunch at altitiude. i also came in for landings a little higher than my normal 270 approach to see what kind of lift they had without being dangerously close to the ground. before i tried them i was very consistent in my 270's with my dive planeing out on by themselves with little or no input. because i was proficient at letting the canopy recover out of its dive, i did not have to rely on digging out with toggles like most do. this help my transition since i wasn't relying on rears to dig out either. as far as the stall point, i've tried up high to get it to stall in a high speed dive, what i might do if i was in the corner and tried to dig out. i was not able to get my xf to stall at high speed. and i was pushing the risers out as hard as i could. as far as slow speed, yes it will collapse, just like everything else out there. i've had success transitioning and found that you get more response than you'd think. good luck and try them up high many times before bringing lower....

Skydive SOBE IS jumping!!
freefli replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
wendy is right. i'm sure she is all too familar with the saying.."isn't sebastian going to be closing?" it only takes one ahole to start a rumor and then people are left depending the truth. that is the case regarding Sobe. as the thread above states, it only takes one witch to mix up her magic potion and cast it over the net. when you see something that looks ridiculous, it usually is. -
like bilvon said ....neato rsl ....great design for a 2 pin cutter ....a riggers wet dream and a few other points of mine ....very economical ....fantastic looking for an 80's flash back ....will make you the hit on the dropzone ....holds it's value for years and years not edited to add any further sarcasm.

P.O.S. only a matter of time before someone gets a freebag lock.... just my opinion.....

Skydive SOBE IS jumping!!
freefli replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
so the rumors have been flying lately on the net. all started by one person who signed up on this site 3 days ago for the sole purpose of slamming people and slamming a dz. i thought moderators are supposed to stop this from happening. but nooo, not a so called reputable person in the skydiving industry. these nasty rumors seemed to have worked for a few hours, but only a few. so if you don't have the facts, you shouldn't speculate or form opinions from reading a post from an author who should be writing for the National Enquirer. FACT.....SoBe is open and flew 8 loads today FACT.....SoBe is under new and improved managemant FACT.....the REAL owner of the Otter ( not a DZO) is at SoBe this weekend to oversee things and is happy with the way the things are running. FACT.....Sobe will stay open and not have anymore issues with prior troublemakers FACT......nothing has changed, just a couple people have left, leaving the people now in charge able to run the place correctly. FACT......this never should have made it to a public forum. i hope this clears any bs up people have seen floating around lately... we at Sobe are very proud of our dz and take offense when someone who has never even jumped there comes in, doesn't get what they want, and then throws a tantrum publicaly. we love our dz and call it home and welcome all to come see how awesome it really is. I believe it will become one of the top dz's in the states sooner than later. but that's my opinion. thanks and come visit us........ ...................dander? i piss on your dander. -
my first rig.....a used javelin second... a new javelin i waited 22 weeks for...just to get it and the colors were wrong...very poor workmanship in the whole thing..imo now own two wings and would never buy anything else...quality, build, and customer care are top notch..... you should hear some of the horror stories going on at the dz i jump at regarding javelins. their customer support or lack of seems to believe in "once it's out the door it's your problem".
-
cesnas, sure. i'm talking about a king air WITH seatbelts that just lay on the floor. same with all the helmets. they lay on the floor, lap, wherever it seems to fall. sorry for the digression from the initial post but 250 aint shit and it isn't enough for tandems. how many of those RW jumps are you dodging a drogue? it's easy to fly around a tandem once you're on level, but there aren't any burbles that can actually suck you in on a 4 way. ready for that?
-
i agree brad.....i don't really care that people flush or not....that's not the hygenic issue. everytime i'm at the dropzone and there is another dude in the bathroom and they finish before me, i am surprised at the percentage of non washers. i'd say 3/4 of the pigs don't wash. and these are the same fuckers that we all slap hands in the plane before exiting. HOW GREAT. HAVE A GOOD JUMP AND THANKS FOR YOUR DICK ON MY HANDS. edited to add.....wash up boys, you know who you are.
-
wow.....shooting tandems with only 262 jumps...they must do things a little different up there in Canada...you must be doing a lot of quality RW in front of the S&TA to impress this person with your flying skills. i hear you guys don't even wear seatbelts or secure the loose objects in the plane. i guess doing tandems under the required amount of jumps wouldn't be a big deal in comparison......just my thoughts.......

look here http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=84160;search_string=elliptical%20experience;guest=4524334#84160 there are a lot of threads out there regarding this subject. i found this one quickly. look some more.

hey dave, the jumper was me.....i asked jeff to give the guys discounted jump tickets on that day to celebrate the day......didn't go over too well......
-
wing load is one concern, but so is it being an ellipticle. one little panic turn low...........i don't care if the person has taken 20 hours of canopy ground school from the best canopy pilots in the world, nothing can replace the experience of time under canopy, which is what is needed......
