I absolutely agree billvon, I guess I was just raised a little different. We wree brough up around guns, my whole family had guns. But we were also raised with a strict policy towards our parents.Under no circumstance were we ver allowed in our parents room. that was off limits. If it wasnt ours or didnt belong to us, we didnt touch it. I was never allowed in my fathers workshop without him with me. I was never allowed in the basement with the reloading equipment unless he was with me. He didnt lock any doors to keep us boys out, WE KNEW BETTER!!!! My son is 10, he has more than 15 guns to his collection, he started shootinf when he was 5, I bought him a chipmunk .22 . He was taught the same thing I was taught, I was taught by my father who my grand father taught and his dad etc etc. None of my guns are locked, none will ever be, His guns are locked in a browning 4 bolt safe due to him living with his mother who is anti-gun( I think thats why I continue to buy him more LOL). No I do undrstand zero tolerance and I do agree with a zero tolerance policy, I just think its a little overboard to suspend a child for a 1 inch toy gun. Jesus man when I was in grade school we brought G.I joe figures to school by the shoebox full, and at recess time, the battlefield broke out on the playground. We had ww3 going on for an hour each day and no harm was done. Sorry I dont mean disrespect to anyone, I just dont understand where some of the views that deal with firearms and weapons in general come from. Its obvious that she knows nothing about guns, apparent she does not own one, and certainly has no motives of purchasing one. Guns are a touchy subject it seems lately, and unfortunantly there popularity amongst the general public seems to be falling. When most people hear the word gun on televisioin, or read about it in the newspapers they automatically assume that there was a robbery, or violence, a killing etc etc. Its just like our sport, the general public knows nothing about our sport, but from tv or newspapers they assume its a deadly sport. Wouldnt it be easier to look at the one inch gun, see that it is not posing any threat, remove the toy from the child until after school, and then that be the end of it? It took them the time to expell the child, then decide whether or not the toy posed a threat? The reason they look big is the style of glass. The glass used is actually brown and no that is the correct way it sits on the pin. The particular glass being used is 23 kv rated glass and thats the reason for the size. The higher the insulation value, of course the bigger the insulator will be. The lines were not added later in the photo as you can see the ties coming from the conductur to the glass. You have to remember this photo was taken AFTER a lineman rodeo. The lines are built for the lineman competition only. They are not energized, they are not always framed to r.e.a. or G.O95 specs. They are built strictly for the purpose of competition only. Most of the rodeo grounds I have been to are built with what materialk is laying around or what has been phased out and going to be thrown away.
