  1. Yeah cause I know of one in California... but that might not help you much! "We see the world just the way we are...
  2. QuoteDon't buy a "gear bag" they're worthless IMHO. Go to Walmart/K-mart.... Quote I second that... just go find yourself a piece of luggage big enough to put your stuff in. I got mine at wallmart for 24 bucks, and the thing is just perfect. It's exactly the right size to fit my rig! It looks like the thing was made for it. Gear bags are a joke! Keep you money to jump. 4. Nobody except fellow noobians want to jump with this grasshopper. You experienced types don't seem to want to die jumping with me, so unfortunately there will be no such "documentation" of my quick rise to stardom that your grandchildren and their grandchildren could enjoy. -moto It's ok Moto, we'll be making history ourselves... maybe we can organize a three way with stearman... I think between the 3 of us we should have about a 100 jumps "We see the world just the way we are...
  5. Yeah just go out there and do it. For some reason radios were not part of the training where I learned... Scary the first time... but then you learn to trust yourslef and it builds confidence. After ten jumps you definitely have the skill to land safely without a radio! The radio is probably just a psychological help... "We see the world just the way we are...
  6. Ok I know I am getting into dangerous territory here but here is my view on this. My motivation to buy a base rig on ebay was only because I saw the opportunity to buy a base rig at a great deal. I had no intention whatsoever to go use this with my little skydiving experience. I can see where the Ebay thing, for items like base rigs and high performance canopies could be desastrous for some young, MTV/ESPN Generation, No Fear shirt, dum kids who think they are invincible and immortal. I am not one of those. I have a family and I fully understans the risks involved. The fact is that base rigs/high performance canopies are not dangerous as objects. But they become leathal in the wrong hands. So yes, in this respect, I believe that selling these items on Ebay is not a good idea. Nonetheless, buying a rig on Ebay does not necessarly means you are a wreckless kid that will most likely kill himself with it. I was gonna buy this base rig because it appeared like good deal (also got my Tria 150 on Ebay for dirt cheap) and was going to sit on it until I had the necessary skills and the proper people to initiate me. I live in Norcal and there are a lot of them at my DZ. "We see the world just the way we are...
  7. Ok I think it's for a good cause... so I will try to make it there by 10:00. Plus I really want to taste stearman's wine!!! "We see the world just the way we are...
  8. You know what... think about it!!!! It really doesn't matter what you got on your test. What is it gonna matter in a year? You know I was just like you when I was in college. Always trying to get an A, really cared about my GPA etc... The bottom line is that you will forget all that after you graduate and you get your first real carreer job. On the second job... they will barely even look at the college education. All they care is that you have experience in something and half a brain that functions (that is what college does for you.. it proves you are reliable, hard working, and that you have a brain that works!) So relax hun!!! A, B, C it doesn't matter...as long as you pass the class it's all good! Enjoy being in college! that won't last forever! "We see the world just the way we are...
  9. Gee thanks, I am really feeling the love here! "We see the world just the way we are...
  10. Yhea it's doable!! hang in there. At first it seems like you will never be able to kick the habit and that you will smoke forever... But really, it's possible to quit! The key to success is genuinely wanting to quit... If you are doing it for someone else, or just because... it will most assurely fail! I don't believe in all this patch/nicotine bullshit! quiting smoking is a mind thing. Just like like a first AFF! The body says" fuck no we are not gonna jump out of that plane..." But the mind says: "You are prepared, you have trained, you can do this and we want to do this for the right reasons!" So if your mind is into quiting, you will succeed! If it's not, go buy yourself a pack right now because you will save yourself 3 weeks of torture until you start up again... Also, none of that "I only smoke while I drink bullshit!" If you are gonna quit, that means quit puting any smoke down the lungs! Cigares are not an alternative Think of all the crap associated with smoking... ever wondered how it feels for a none smoker to kiss a smoker?? Try French kissing an ashtray! The money blown in smoke, the taring of the lungs... do you really need to tare the road to heaven Bottom line: keep focused on why you want to quit, be truely willing to quit and avoid being around people how smoke at first. Your body will have a shit fit at first but this goes away after a few days. The rest is in the head... think as a none smoker not as an ex smoker! That will help! 11. Glad you will get your gear back! I would have hated buying a rig on Ebay ant then get my head bashed in by someone who recogized the gear as stolen property! "We see the world just the way we are...
  12. OK Now I feel like a real fucking idiot because I am currently the high bidder on this base rig sold on Ebay... I am glad I came accross this thread!!! If I can help Buddman to recover his gear in anyways let me know!! This is really bad karma to bid on someone else's stolen rig!!! Shit!!!! "We see the world just the way we are...
  13. Sweeeeeeeeeettt! Congratulation!!! Next time I see you we'll jump together!! "We see the world just the way we are...
  14. if it's in in the bag and the line stows look alright that's good enough for me... I got to that conclusion after my first own pack jobs! I mean you should have seen the burrito looking pack jobs I have stuffed in my container!!! it alway opened!! I am definitely not anal about packing. I figure the odds are on my side... 15. I jump a Tri 150, but never got to jump a spectre. My 2 cents right now with my low experience is to go with the canopy you get a good deal on. Tri or spectre it's all good... chances are you won't be able to tell the difference but your wallet might Resale value could also be a factor... "We see the world just the way we are...
  16. reply] Main is not a TSO component, so probably anyone could do it. You could even build a main canopy from sheets, threads and paper clips, and go jumping and it would be perfectly legal. Well, my question is not really regarding the legal aspect of it but more directed towards the quality of worksmanship. A more simple question. Will the line set installed/built by a rigger be as good as a factory reline? "We see the world just the way we are...
  17. Ok here is the deal. I have a Triathlon that needs a reline badly! I talked to my rigger, who is also a master rigger and said he could do it for about 280 bucks or so...If I remember correctly he said the line set was 220+ 60 to install them. I just wanted to know what the general consensus is regarding relines. Should it best be left to the factory to do it or is it fine if a master rigger does it. Do master riggers make the line sets from scratch or do they order them from the manufacturer and just instal them? Any insight would be great... I don't want to look like I don't trust my Master rigger, but if parachutes are like cars in anyways... the manufacturer usually get things right....tweak it yourself and chances are it will be a mere imitation how it should run... 18. The washing machine exit! Or at least that's how I call it! Two people sit in the door, close together, looking inside the plane with their butt cheeks hanging in the wind... Lock your arms and legs together. give a good backward impulse and stay tight together... Look at your friends face while tumbling accross the sky!! "We see the world just the way we are...
  19. I never got the kick off solving little electronic gizmos temperamental issues... I like to fix cars, tweak engines to make them go twice as fast as they were designed for... I like to custom weld stuff, build stuff... that gives me satisfaction! If it doesn't go BOOM, SHABANGGG!!! when I am done it does bring me satisfaction! Maybe I am just an educated, skilled white trash!!! I think I am gonna grow me a MULLET!!! "We see the world just the way we are...
  20. Deep throat! What kind of movie store you said it was... "We see the world just the way we are...
  21. Ok since I gladly disagree with your two tasteless designs... I thought it was only fair that I give you an alternative design... Here is mine....I stayed with your colors though... Everyone feel free to shoot it down! "We see the world just the way we are...
  22. I didn't vote because I honestly don't like the colors sheme that much... but like SkydiveNFlorida said who cares if someone else doesn't like it. But my input on that is that the assymetric stripes are not that great looking... Looks like a kid messed up with the crayons My advice to design as rig is to keep it simple... You don't have to have different colors for every stripes and panel... simple looks great too! Too many colors and it looks like a four year old designed it! But hey that's just my opinion! if you like it go for it! "We see the world just the way we are...
  23. Jumped when the landing area was cover with a layer of clouds at about 4K. We figured out that with the GPS we could not be that far off! Anyways, the jump is uneventful (6 way speed star) until break off at 5000. I decide to break through the clouds before pitching. I was really in for a surprise when I came out of the clouds! All I could see was vineyard for days!!!! I pitched at 3500 right out of the clouds. After opening i looked down and could not recognize anything whatsoever. All I could see was vineyards all around me and some tall hills on the left! After quickly assessing the situation I decided that I could probably make it on top of the hill... I could have gone for a road down between the vinyards next to a pond but decided that it was much safer to go for the hills... I remember thinking " Fuck I better go for the hills and I'll walk down the 2 miles... I really don't want to end up with a grape stake up my ass if I miss the narrow road"! So I land on top of boon dog hill in the middle of bumfuck nowhere just to realize that I must have landed on some state land or something. The whole area was fenced with a 12 feet tall barbe wire fence, Lucky I was able to find a spot on the ground where my skinny ass could probably fit under the fencing. Since it had been raining most of the day the whole area was muddy has heck! I am sure you get the picture! On my way down the hill I came accross a skunk 3 feet from me!! I don't know who was the most scared but I really didn't feel like getting sprayed... So I gently backed away and kept on walking. After a good walk I finally found two other jumpers I had jumped with and we started the long walk toward civilization. We finally got to a road where we got pick up by some farm workers and they droped us off at a gaz station where we called the dz and someone pick us up! "We see the world just the way we are...
  24. Make sure you enjoy the feeling and remember that exit!! The first time you go unstble is really memorable! I wish I could forget and do it again! I totally love it. I am sure you will to! Just relax and arch... the ride will become stable almost instantly! "We see the world just the way we are...
  25. I totally agree with you that some of the little thoughtfull things that some instructors do make the whole experience of learning to skydive so much more enjoyable! For me, skydiving is more than just jumping out of a plane without killing myself. Skydiving is about having fun, meeting incredible people, having a bonding experience with amazing individuals and making new friends. To me AFF instructors, and tandem instructors as well, are the embassador of this sport since they are the first one in contact with new jumpers... So when an AFF instructor take those little extra steps like waiting for you on the landing area, giving a high five, and looks like he also enjoyed jumping with you, the whole experience is so much more fullfilling... I say this because I wish that's how it would have been when I learned. Unfortunately, I can not even remember the name of my instructor... goes to tell you how much interaction I had with the guy, and I felt like I was dropped like cargo every time! Sure I learnt how to skydive, but the experience could have been so much more pleasant had the instuctor seen me has a little more than just another student that had to be taken up and jumped really quick. Eventually I would like to get my AFF rating to be able to change this and show students the skydiving LOVE. I want to be able to introduce people into this sport the right way!!!
