Ok so here is a little update on my experience... The UPS Gods, visited me yesterday and brought me my new (used) Diablo 150.

Yup I am with you on that one... I love their products, but the whole flash thing is really irritating... I don't like to have to download stuff before you can view a site. Definitely poor marketing planing. That might even cost them customers in the long run. "We see the world just the way we are...

I have rapide links. I wouldn't mess with slinks unless I really felt confident I could thread them right. "We see the world just the way we are...

Thanks nathan! I am glad you like them! "We see the world just the way we are...

Not sure if this is in response to my question... but it's not really helping! "We see the world just the way we are...

Making your own freefly pants/suit yourself is a good idea and not that hard if you have the basic skills for sewing... Do a search on that topic it's been discussed a few times. I can tell you that to make a decent pair of pants and suit, you will have to put some work into it. Unless you just want the basic potato sack with strings for the cuffs. Making something that will last a while on a cheap home sewing machine might be kind of hard. Use E-thread (69 thread) if you can so your seam will hold good. But pulling E-thread through a few layer of polycotton/supplex on a cheap home machine will be a nightmare...trust me on that one. "We see the world just the way we are...

Thanks for all the good info... I will definitely try to hook it up myself and then I will have a rigger or somebody with experience look over it. It really does not look like it's rocket science but I know thing can get mixed up easily if one doesn't pay attention. oh and thanks a lot for the offer Bonnie!

I am about to get a new (used) canopy... How bad of an idea is it to hook it up to the risers and attached the pilot chute and D-Bag myself? "We see the world just the way we are...

DUDE! I lOVE THAT COUNTRY!!! Maybe that because lived there for 18 years...and was born in the alps My Bro still lives in Lausanne, my Mom lives in Meiringen (20 minutes away form lauterbrunnen) and my Dad lives in Martigny! How the f#@K did I end up living in the central valley in Cali I don't know!!! But some day I'll go back baby!!! I've been lurking those walls in Meiringen ever since I was a kid... I might trade room and board for some base mentorship "We see the world just the way we are...

what do you mean with that ?? did not understand... Sorry, just a fish , and suffering from short term memory loss Well I am not gonna get too deep into the explanation, but I did a static line progression... thought mostly through a TV with erratic sound and some booklets. i signed up for the course at 10.00 in the morning and by 11:30 I was dangling from the strut of a cessna. That's including gearing up and the FJC Class Never had the same instructor... and they all were piloting the plane . I am glad I survived but let me tell you, next time I won't go for the bargain course. I got what I paid for... "We see the world just the way we are...

The tv with the erratic sound system.... I don't count the other ones as instructors. "We see the world just the way we are...

I personally like Supplex better for its durability... What it comes down to is how thick the supplex material is. Some supplex fabrics are really light and they will flap at an irritating rate. Some other supplex fabrics have some kind of weight to them. Supplex is just the name of given by Dupont to a fiber they developped. I believe supplex is mostly nylon that is weaved to feel almost like cotton. So it much more resistant since it's not a natural fiber. How the fiber is weaved is what's important. I have experimented with different kind of supplex to make pants and my findings is that 4 ply supplex works fairly well and as the right weight to it. 2 ply supplex will flap to fast unless you add some accents to the pants to make the material thicker. I have even bought a roll of 6 ply supplex and it's really bomb proof to tears and rips but the only downfall to 6 ply supplex is that it's kind of rough on the skin. Cotton will not hold up very well to a really bad butt landing... "We see the world just the way we are...

I am not sure your math is correct on that... The 50% off coupon is off the MSRP (Base price for the Articulated harness is $1,480.00 and the base price for the Standard harness is $1,350.00 according to Sunrise rigging website.) You can get a wings at about 30% off MSRP from a gear dealer or somewhere around 950.00. with the 50% off coupon you would pay 740.00 for a wings straight from the manufacturer.... So these coupons really have a cash value of around 200 bucks! Buy the coupon from someone for less than that and you we'll be saving money on your new rig... That's what I did about a year ago...but the MSRP was not that much yet. "We see the world just the way we are...

Should I stick with it... or start sewing potato sacks!

I use mostly 4 ply supplex... that seems to hold up very well and it has a good weight to it. I assemble everything by serging the seams and then top stiching over that. I use E-thread all around. So far nothing has come apart... "We see the world just the way we are... -

I actually use 4ply supplex, that seems to hold up really good in freefall and it flies really nice. I have also used a 6ply supplex and that really makes them bomb proof but the fabric is kind of rough to the touch... I piece all the designs together so that it's much stronger. and I assemble every thing with 69 thread for durability. I also use 2" velcro for the cuffs and the velcro zipper that seems to hold very well. "We see the world just the way we are... -

I have started making some freefly clothes for the fun of it... What do you think of them? Are the design cool? Too flashy? Lousy? Here are some of my creations... "We see the world just the way we are... -
I haven't sewn any underwear, but when I was practicing for my practical test, I made alot of F111 patches with E thread on one of these. Portability factor can be handy, too. Obviously need a bigger machine also. I guess F111 patches are like underwears... I am not a rigger so I don't use my sewing machines to patch canopies... but I know that these low end machines don't work very well for making suits and pants... Here are some of the pants I made. If you need a few pointers, do hesitate to PM me. I am not a rigger but I can definitely sew some pants that hold up in freefall... Really, sewing is not the hard part... the hard part is to work the pattern right so you don't end up with a potatoes sack! PM me if you want to know about the farbrics you can use and where to find it... "We see the world just the way we are...

I don't know what kind of machine you bought but it sounds like it's really the low end "home style machine"... (nothing wrong with those if you are just sewing underwear...) I am not sure what you plan on using your machine for, but I can tell you from personal experience 69 thread on home machines don't mix very well... add a little material thickness and you will be pulling your hair out!!! you can probably pick up a decent straight stitch semi industrial machine for about 200 bucks online... PM for more info... "We see the world just the way we are...
