  1. Here is the post that originally mentioned it, being that Dave's girlfriend is a law student she probably know the best places to get this kind of info, I doubt it's googlable. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1821163#1821163 Fly it like you stole it!
  2. Another none of the above. I prefer Tea hot or iced, if I do drink soda I drink something diet everything else is just way to sweet. Fly it like you stole it!
  3. Do like me and be in the middle of a road trip half way across the country. Definately no TV reception in the middle of nowhere Navada. Fly it like you stole it!
  4. They have already proved the water has no O2 in it, so that means there are no fish alive in that water. As mythbusters would say.....this one's busted. Fly it like you stole it!
  5. Next time use a spray bottle with water, spray the dog in the face and firmly say NO. This is how to break up dog fights without getting in the middle of it. I like cats and I like dogs and what that dog did was very wrong wild cat or family pet. The problem is that now that the dog caught one it will continue to hunt cats and other small animals and could easily start to go after small dogs. Kind of depends on the dog and how it generalize the animals that it likes to hunt. edit to add.....missed the part about it being trained to fight, that dog is a menace and could be dangerous to other people living in the comunity. 6. Unfortunately, unlike our more enlightened friends down under, the wine industry up here for the most part clings stubbornly to the idea that cork=classy and the only "wine" that can be found with a screw top is sleazy fortified wine. Some of the better wines are going to synthetic corks, a couples friend of our brought over a bottle of wine that had a synthetic cork last week. None of us really liked it, but we went ahead and drank the whole thing. Normally the 4 of us go through 2 bottles in an evening but that night it took all night to drink the one. Well I went online to find out more about the wine, trying to find out what I didn't like so I can avoid that in the future, well as it turns out it was a $100 bottle of wine. Two things learned: 1) Expensive wine does not equal good wine 2) Synthetic corks are finally becoming more popular Fly it like you stole it!
  7. From the above-linked web site: Don't know if that's true or not. It does look like at least two of the three conditions needed for a tornado - I've been in a few They are caused by turbulent air, here on the front range the mountains help cause the turbulence so tornadoes don't normally form here, but go east far enough from the mountains and it's the thunderhead that creates the turbulence. That is when seeing them is a bad omen, in ND we would just go strait in the basement when you would see those and they were green. I can't think of once where the tornado sirens didn't blow soon after. Fly it like you stole it!
  8. Good news, Derek's golite team pack fits me, although it's made for ultralite backpacking so I'm going to have to be very careful how much I put in it and how I pack it up. Poor Derek I'm going to end up stealing all of his ultralite camping stuff. Mary, I figured it out lastnight Sherpa can carry 16 lbs so whatever weight is left over in his pack after his food you are more than welcome to put Sham or Rose's food in there. To keep him loaded down we can also put all trash in his pack. I'm trying to see if he can qualify for WPD (working pack dog) certification but since he doesn't have any AKC papers it will probably be a no go. :( How cool would it be to make up some pretentious name like Rocky Mountain High Sherpa's Dream, WPD;CGC;WD (Working Pack Dog; Canine Good Citizen; Wonder Dog) Fly it like you stole it!
  9. Next time just call and say it's domestic violence, we had 7 cop cars ourside my apartment building to arrest one girl who stabbed her boy friend. As a bonus he had just moved in 2 weeks ago. This is definately a sign that our complex is going downhill and downhill fast. Fly it like you stole it!
  10. I can just bring Derek's whisperlite stove so you don't buy any new shiny things. Of course, I know that won't stop you. Fly it like you stole it!
  11. As maybe an interesting side note, one of our field tech was trying to evacuate his family had a car, gas, and everything loaded up that Sunday night. On their way out of town they were turned around by law enforcement saying that it was safer for them to stay in NO then be on the road in the traffic jam heading out of town. They did what they were told, but knew better than to go home and went to my companies main point of presents to ride it out knowing that they had a better chance there with a generator than they did in their own home. They were lucky the site had generator power and since there was an office there fresh drinking water (water cooler with several jugs) and food (vending machine), plus they were probably one of the first rescued since there have been people trying to restore infrastructure (phone, cable, wireless) since right after the storm hit. They lost their home and all their belongings, but he is one of the lucky ones and still has a job. Poor man is probably crazy busy right now. Fly it like you stole it!
  12. LOL...lord that took forever to put together and I know I'm missing something. Oh well I got the basics covered. Fly it like you stole it!
  13. Ladies, what is the full plan one night out or two? This is the pack I have it's a few years old now and two tone blue but the exact same style. North Face Stamina 65 womens pack, the small harness is small enough to shrink down for my shorter frame. What is really nice about it is that there is a compartment on the bottom for your sleeping back that unzips and a long zipper on the front, that way you don't have to pull everything out to get to what is on the bottom of your pack. Definately get one that is hydration compatible it's a pain in the ass when you camelbak is floating all over the pack. Also the ability to make adjustments to the load is very nice especially here in CO where you could be going up or down steep terrain. I don't think REI carries North Face packs anymore, so look for something with similar features. Don't forget features mean weight so it's a trade off get an ultra-light pack and have to spend time digging through the pack or completely emptying it to get what you need, or get a heavier pack with things at your fingertips. Also I like the Nalgeen bladders better than the camelbak ones, the opening very easily attaches to a filter since it's the standard size of a nalgeen bottle. The tube has a quick release from the bladder which is nice cause you either have to drag your whole pack to the stream to refill it or fish the tube out the differnt ports on the pack if you can't release it. Derek has a very nice water filter I can bring, that way we don't have to lug to much extra water. Depending on how much weight you will be carring in your pack you may want to invest in a firm shoe with good ankle support and walking poles to save your knees and back. My Backpacking Recommendations for REI shopping: Gregory Deva 60 Pack - Women's Sierra Designs Dream Weaver Flex 3D +15 Sleeping Bag - Women's Regular - Synthetic Sierra Designs Shut Eye Flex Down +15 Sleeping Bag - Women's Regular - Down Therm-a-Rest ProLite 4 Sleeping Pad REI Roadster UL Tent - Since you aren't bringing any K-9 companionship no need for the extra weight of a 2 person tent. Brinkmann Focused Beam LED Headlamp - This is just an example any LED headlamp would work REI Ascent Anti-Shock Compact Trekking Poles Leatherman tool Accessory cord This should keep you busy for awhile. 14. Derek and I have been looking at getting me one of those among other bikes and scooters. I used to have an FZR 600R, and while having a 600 doesn't scare me the fact that the seat heights in the last few years have gone up does bother me. With the bike standing up I can't touch the ground at all on Derek's bike, so that is out because I'm not comfortable having to slide off the seat at a stop light. So I have to look at other options like the ninja 250 which still has the 80s styling and the lower seat height, or a scooter. No matter what I come home with I know Derek is going to make fun of it when it sits in the garage next to his bike. "Isn't it so cute, it's like a baby bike, don't touch it though you might crush it". Fly it like you stole it!
  15. LOL...you need to tell Sham that his paws need to be at 3 and 10. Fly it like you stole it!
  16. I had gotten one, but it didn't work correct, so I took it back. It got stuck on the sweep mode and it just kept running. I'm not thinking about trying out another one. With three cats, I'd like to not have to clean the littel box every day. What problems have you had, and what should I look out for? I had that happen when I put to much litter in mine, when filling I have to make sure to put it just below the max fill line. Also Mem only goes on one side of the box so about once a week I have to use the litter scooper to push the clumps to the other side of the bin so it doesn't fill up so fast. For awhile to save money on bins every week I would dump the clumps from the bin in the trash and only once a month replace the bin. A box of bins lasted over a year. Now I just toss the bin when ever it is full anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Fly it like you stole it!
  17. 1991-1993 - My Dad's 1990 Ford Ranger, he had a company vehicle and I only got to drive this to school and home, and once in awhile on a Friday night out. 1994-1997 - 1990 Pontiac Sunbird, went a semester with no car in college in February since I'd gotten all As and one B that semester and my scholarships covering my tuition for another year my parents got me the car with the money the would have spent on school. 1995-1997 - 1989 FZR 600R, everyone had a motorcycle so I had to have one too. 1997-2004 - 1997 Ford Mustang GT, how this was a fun car and I still really really miss it. 2004-Present - 2004 Mazda 6 sport wagon, this is my very first brand new drove it off the lot with only 7 miles on it car. Lots of room for gear on outdoors trips and a very nice looking car. 2005-present - 2004 Honda CBR 600RR new off the lot toy for Derek that I help buy. I'd ride it myself but he won't loosen the suspension and I'm to light to weigh it down which means I can't touch the ground when I'm in the seat. Fly it like you stole it!
  18. Here is Kat Springs Memnock's My Game (Mem for short) and Foxy chilling on the couch. I'm trying to get one of Sherpa grooming Mem but as soon as I get the camera out they both bolt, almost like they know I'm going to post the pic online as soon as I get it. More pics can be found here http://www.jumpergirl.com/fox.html Fly it like you stole it!
  19. My neighbors are very cool considering I live in an apt complex. Dogs play together, kids play together everyone says high to one another. Only problem is the property manager, not sure if she is just a bitch or if it's cause she is from the east coast but she will come out and give us hell for congregating in non-commons areas meaning the pool or dog run area. She has made it very uncomfortable for me and my neighbors so now we sneak to the back sides of the buildings so she can't see us chatting or the kids playing. After living here 4 years I'm moving out next May and when I turn in my 30 day notice I will be documenting her rude behavior and state that she is the reason I'm leaving and send that to the property management company that she works for. I'm not doing it now because she can make life very difficult if she wants to. Fly it like you stole it!
  20. Hey don't rule out adult cats, I got my boy when he was 2 years old from a breeder (he was one of her studs who wasn't working out). He is a pure breed traditional Persian who was living with 3 dogs, 4 cats, gerbils, and ferrets. He is scared of nothing but over-baring dogs and can be very playful (loves pull up cords and wagging dog tails) it did take about two weeks for him to completely settle in, but once he was look out cause he would be running to the door to great you with the dog. Just remember that cats need to be socialized just like dogs do. Oh and it's not odd for a male to think of you as his, my cat loves me and pretty much anyone who comes over but HATES Derek, the two of them plot against eachother. Let me also recommend right now the auto cleaning litter boxes, yes they are expensive but the keep the house smelling nice and less chance of the cat not going in it cause you forgot to clean it. 22. It's not hard to teach a cat to use a scratching post, they are smart and all you have to do is feed off their territorial instincts. All I did was scratch at the post myself and the cat would come running and start scrating at the post "trying to cover up my scent with his" I kept doing this and in no time it was scratching at it all the time. He now has one that is part of his kitty condo and I'm going to have to replace the rope because it's shreded, while my furniture just has a few snag marks from him trying to claw it. As an added bonus for me both dogs know it's game on when he is scratching the furniture and they get after him if they hear him doing it. Fly it like you stole it!
  23. I have just one cat, but then I also have two high energy dogs (ok well one used to be high energy), so the cat is happy when it gets some peace and quiet. Lately though I've been pretty busy and not able to sit on the couch in the evening petting it so it has figured out a way to get petted when I'm not around to do it. It walks up to our new dog when he is having a calm moment and will rub up against Sherpa until he starts getting grooming, then he will lay on the dogs paws while the dog licks him. Oddest thing because just 30 minutes earlier the dog will have chased him up to the top of the cat condo. Fly it like you stole it!
  24. It's crazy extreemly rare/low chance but yellowstone is still considered an active volcano and as big as it is I can definately see it causing us problems here in CO. Fly it like you stole it!
