  1. Anywhere Mary (flyangle2) is. Fly it like you stole it!
  2. LOL...your little pug is just imitating Mom. Fly it like you stole it!
  3. I have two gateways one is a desktop (2 years old) and the other a laptop (almost 1 year old) and both have performed perfectly. I got a killer deal on the desktop from HSN it was their daily value with free shipping only thing I needed was more ram to bring it to a gig. Derek's laptop I bought from them online made to order, pricing out the options I wanted it was the best deal out there. I have an HP laptop from work and I've had to have the harddrive replaced twice, and several other people on my team have had to have theirs replaced a few times also. The current hard drive I've had about a year now so it may have just been a bad batch. Fly it like you stole it!
  4. BWAHAHAA....don't make me spank you. Fly it like you stole it!
  5. Have you ever heard of NILIF (nothing in life is free)? http://k9deb.com/nilif.htm It's a way of helping your dog learn that you are Alpha, and will allow you to start to build the foundation needed to make training easier. Be patient coming into a new house is stressful for everyone he needs time to adjust and learn that this truly is his new home. When he does do something bad you have to remember that unless you do the correction right when the bad behavior happened he isn't going to understand what he did wrong he is just going to know that Mom is mad at me which isn't good if he is shy. Two words when it comes to training....timing and consistency. Is there any specific behavior that he is doing that you would like to change, cause without knowing what the problem is it's hard to give you training hints? Fly it like you stole it!
  6. He forgot "with me" which is very handy when you want the dog to come with you/near you but it doesn't have to be by your left side. A handy redirect command is rope(you can use toy or whatever), dog is doing something wrong like jumping on you or counter surfing you tell it off or no and then give it a new command like toy (go get your toy) then give tons of praise cause it is doing an appropriate behavior. How to teach "Rope" 1) Put the rope/toy in his mouth while saying rope/toy when he takes it give him tons of praise and petting, after a minute or so if he hasn't already dropped it take it away and give him the command again putting it in his mouth. Continue doing this until he readily takes the toy. 2) Put the toy on the ground and give him the command if he takes it right away great, if not hold the toy in your hand moving it around while giving the command till he grabs it, if he won't grab it go back to step one and start over. Give him lots of praise and petting every time he does it right. 3) Now that he is grabbing the toy off the ground when you give the command and you are standing next to it, start to move him away from the toy. Have the toy on the ground and take him about 2 feet away from the toy and give him the command, if he is confused take him over to the toy and give him the command again. This part can take some time, but the goal is to be in another room from the toy give him the command and he will go get his toy. As a bonus a training session like this will wear him out more than running ever will, since your dog is probably very smart I'm sure it will love it. Fly it like you stole it!
  7. Since no one actually answered your question trad is a style of climbing where you place your protection in cracks in the wall and clip your rope to the protection you placed, there are many different kinds of pro and my fingers hurt so I won't list them all. The other popluar style of climbing is sport climbing where bolts have been drilled into the rock and you clip your rope to them as you go up. I beleive trad is short for traditional since trad was around long before anyone ever dreamed of drilling a bolt in a wall. I've only got trad climbing once but putting your first rack together is rather pricey so it's mostly sport or gym climbing for me. Amazingly enough it's not hard to spend as much on climbing gear as skydiving gear, I'm guessing I have about $2000 worth pro(I only have a set of nuts), ropes, quickdraws, harness, shoes, ect. then add in the gym membership and it starts to look like not such a cheap sport of course if you climb only outdoors you do save the expense of the gym but you increase the wear and tear on your gear so I really call it a wash. 8. It all depends if you are into hard, well defined, muscular ripped bodies or not... Yes please...can I have 2. Fly it like you stole it!

  10. Amen.....the rock gyms around here have great eye candy. Fly it like you stole it!
  11. Sweet!! I have the same user name over there as I do here. Hopefully this sharing of resources means the crappy search functionality over there will get fixed. Fly it like you stole it!
  12. Oh she is so cute!! You are right she can't carry weight until she is 12-14 months old and then you need to slowly add the weight till she gets used to it. Articles and books Hiking with Fido Camping with your dog List of books sold on Amazon Fly it like you stole it!
  13. Isn't there an idea that dogs can actually attract mountain lions and bears to you? (Ack!) What you are refering too is the preditor responce that a running dog or child can ellicit in a mountain lion. If the lion is close enough to see the dog it has already seen you and will attack a human just as quickly as the dog. The only time that dogs actually bring a lion into camp is when they are off leash and not under control meaning they have been running around the mountain side found a kitty and brought it back to camp. When in the mountain DO NOT let your dogs run free without a way to control them if you want them to be off leash they need to be well trained. Bears are attracted by food in your camp, so make sure you have it secure away from the tents. Fly it like you stole it!
  14. No special privileges just a way to mark the accomplishments you and your buddy did together, kind of like getting your SCR or diamond wings. There is a certification in Boulder where your dog has to pass certain off leash test to get a tag for it's collar that will allow it off leash on leash only trails, not sure what it is called though. Yep many area do not allow dogs, so always research before taking a trip. Since my dog is on an e-collar I always research the area off leash trails which makes the hike more enjoyable for both of us. Always check where you plan to hike before you go out and have an optional trail ready just in case the new one doesn't allow pets. Karen - Where were you hiking at, that is some beautiful country. Phil - You haven't met Sherpa yet have you...I dare any dog to make fun of him. Fly it like you stole it!
  15. Actually I think blockbuster is starting to feel the netflix squeeze since they are trying to imitate them. Derek bitches everytime we get a messed up DVD, but then I show him how many we have rented and how small the number of damaged ones really is. Fly it like you stole it!
  16. Since quite a few people here hike and many have dogs that hike with them (it may or may not have carried it's own pack). I thought it would be nice to know that you can get your dog it's backpack certification no matter what breed it is or if it is registered or not. My boy will be going for his BPDX award here pretty soon since we are only 2 hikes away from his BPD and if I go overnight hiking with Mary next month he will have the overnight requirement covered. BackPack Dog Award Also you can get trail dog distance badges from Wolf Packs (the pack my dog uses). It's on the honor system and no trail ratings or minimum weight in the dog's pack are required. To calculate distance is pretty strait forward (miles walked=miles earned) except when elevation gain is involved. Elevation gain may be substituted for mileage in the following manner: 1,000 feet of elevation is equivalent to 1 mile of flat terrain. Elevation gain will be figured as the distance between the highest and lowest points of the trip. So say you hiked 5 miles and gained 2000 feet, you would then record the trip as a 7 mile hike. Happy hiking! Fly it like you stole it!
  17. I was surprised that Allison wasn't retired considering the amount of flooding and property damage to Houston. Nevermind...It looks like it was retired, first time ever for a tropical storm. Fly it like you stole it!
  18. Yep made me cry, especially since I picked up my dog from the kennel this morning after being on vacation for two weeks. They could barely get the gate open to let him out because he was jumping on it and pushing against it to hard. Poor thing probably thought I had abandoned him like his last owners. Fly it like you stole it!
  19. Had one that started at the end of my senior year in HS and went through college. I moved away and lost touch, but I'd bet money that if we were both single and met up again it would be on. Fly it like you stole it!
  20. I know tequilagirl, she is inventive, by the end of the storm she will have figured out a way to make daiquiris on the rocks. BTW...My dog and I rode out Allison with her back in '01. Way to good of a time. Fly it like you stole it!
  21. That is exactly how a persian looks when getting a bath, so I don't know why anyone would bother photoshopping the cat pic when all they have to do is come over to my house to get that exact shot. Fly it like you stole it!
  22. I replaced mine with the same kind of bungee used to connect legstraps together. Just do a whip stitch to the old elastic and pull it through feed the bungee through the tightener and you will never need to replace it again. Fly it like you stole it!
  23. Be careful with the wires and do not just pull the cutter out by the wires, feed the cutter out of the elastic sleeve carefully. It's easy to remove, but you have to be careful you wouldn't want to damage it before you shipped it off. Fly it like you stole it!
  24. They were saying there is so much bacteria in the water any O2 that gets in it is consumed immediately. Fly it like you stole it!
  25. how about a NSFW on that one. Fly it like you stole it!
