    Jammie Jump

Well since it is going to be cold on sunday but the sun will be out looks like it's time for the Texas jammie jump. That is right bring your flannel jammies to the DZ and make a jump with TequilaGirl and me. And you thought they were just for lounging around the DZ.
  10. Paula just start blowing in the direction of CA, then they can have all of our wind.
  11. well ummm......I'm not sure what kind of meat boobies are.....but since you prefer the boobies alive (I hope anyway) I don't think they actually count.
  12. Well like Jessica said if the average American would cut back on the amount of consumption of 1 meal a day of meat, the demand would be cut back significantly. Personally I only eat about 3-4 meals a week that have meat in them, and then it's not red meat. We all can do something, but until they can make supplements that are in high enough quantities that they can actually sustain us the majority of people will eat animals. Still even then there are things we can all do to cut back, like eating more pasta and rice. There are lots of soy products out there to replace milk, heck my dog get soy ice cream. When I was in gymnastics we would snack on soy beans to keep our protein levels up. The only real difference about the slaves vs. animals is that they are humans they look human, and that is easy to fight for. Animals well look like animals, and even wild populations of animals need to be kept in check for their own good, because unfortunately we have already killed off most of their natural predators. I hate to say it, but we took over Mother Nature’s job along time ago. I think we are on the same side of the fence, just different perspectives, and a lot has to do with the cultures we grew up in. I think what my family does on their farms is ok, what the people in farm mills and puppy mills isn't ok. Unfortunately also I can't argue against animal research, I may not like it, but it is what has helped my Mom stay alive these last few years so I feel hypocritical when I argue against it. Sometimes though you have to fight the small battles first, like with the person who killed the dog(s). Get him convicted, get the sentence to something that is more than a slap on the wrist. Set precidences, then take those to the next level, to puppy mills set more precidences, then work your way up to farm mills which is the big war. You think what you are doing is great wish I could, but I can't, so I personally try to work on the small fights.
  13. ummmmm....only if they are your companion
  14. Hey can you send your fair godmother over my way, my place needs spring cleaning done in a BAD way.
  15. Yes I do know about the animals put into research, I know about the shit put into animal food that has been linked to making them sick. I know about the dogs stolen from homes to be put in labs. I've seen the results of animal abuse in different animal related industries. I know you are saying well do something to stop it, well ok you stopped eating all forms of animal and animal by-products. I can't do that, I work to much, have to much stress, and have a shitty diet, I'm basically anemic and that is with taking supplements. So my other option is to do something like PETA, well then I'm an extremist. Can't win can I. Hmmmm.....to bad we can't do that "research" on those that are making your cuddly beagles into "research" animals. (btw...my Mom has MS and unfortunately I know alot of her treatments have come from animal research) Actually it's to bad that modern technology hasn't come up with a better way to test drugs and different forms of "cures" for our human diseases which are probably in part caused by the crap that is given to farm mill animals to get fat and grow big. Vicious cycle huh..... Btw, we do categorize humans to, in farmers, laborers, engineers, designers, dr.s, the list goes on and on. Being a companion is a job, did you know there are humans who's job it is to be a companion to other humans.
  16. You know if I never had to buy meat from a grocery store I wouldn't. I was raised in a farming community almost my entire family is in farming. Their farms are very different from those on that page. All of their animals are free range animals. The chickens, geese, cows, and pigs didn't live like that. The meat from them was 10x better than what you get in stores in terms a leanness. I've been at my grandparents farm when they were slaughtering for themselves and for market, they made sure the animal was dead the first time around. Of course their main form of income was from grain crops, but they still had plenty of animals to sustain the farm in lean times, and for their own uses. Maybe I'm desensitized to the killing of farm animals for food, but I was outraged by what I saw on those pages. It reminds me of puppy mills. I guess I was taught that some animals place in life is for food, just like some animals pull sleds, or rescue people from buildings, or even are just companions. I was also taught not to waste, and what alot of those pics were of was waste, just like killing an animal for only it's skin is waste. but that is another topic all in of it self.

  21. Hey April how about you come join us in the extra bedroom.
  22. I think the reason most people get upset about what happened to the dog in the original post is the pure cruelty of it. I'm from ND and I've have been deer and duck hunting, but I understand why this is done especially the deer. To many deer mean destruction of farmland and with most of their natural predators having been killed in the past, it's now up to us to regulate their numbers. Plus in those cases we also eat the animal, in general it doesn't go to waste. Now take little fluffy who was hung up, it was the senselessness of the act, the killing for the pure pleasure of it. It's very easy to see that act being done to a human, so it outrages people. Also that dog was probably that owners best friend and maybe only companion, it has been a proven fact that animals help people enrich peoples lives, now that man is alone and might not have the ability to raise another puppy. This is why therapy animals are so successful in hospitals and nursing homes, you would be amazed at the ability of some animals to sense what a human needs. You might say well he shouldn't have let the dog get away, the thing is here in the Houston area in the last year there have been a lot of dogs stolen from backyards. It was on the news how one neighborhood had 10 dogs come up missing in the course of a week. I doubt they all ran away. I'm a strong advocate of spaying and neutering, I have both a cat and a dog and both are fixed and have been from the 2nd week that I got them. Both were also rescued adult animals, so I've seen pounds and I know how hard it is to place some of those animals especially the older ones. So putting them down in that case might actually be more humane than letting them live in little 4x7 cages. No one wants to see anyone or anything suffer, and that is all that animal did for the last few min of its life was suffer. I hope they find whoever did it, because he/she might be killing animals now, but they will definitely move on to more exciting "prey".
  23. yes that would be Memnock, he is a pissy kitty who currently doesn't like me since I gave him a bath the other night.
