  1. I deleted myself...had to cancel ticket in the name of saving moolah. Have fun y'all!
  2. Harry or Freefly, that would be great! Phew, something else I plan late and half-assed might work out... A.
  3. Is anyone who's going to the Holiday Boogie getting into Phoenix on the 24th? I got a super cheap flight then, but it's xmas eve so a lot of people have plans...I get in at 6:25 in the evening, does anyone else have a similar itinerary or want to pick up a wayward traveller? Aviva
  4. 160 out the door jumping a Safire 139. That means my loading is between 1.15 and 1.24:1, depending who you ask about safire sizes. I have 250 jumps and plan to stick with this canopy for at least another couple hundred. In my case, a slightly heavier loading (from 149's and 150's) greatly improved my landings in all conditions, improved the level of control I have.
  5. There are people out there with thousands of jumps who have never had to cut away. That is not necessarily a good thing. I had a cutaway on jump 68 on a rig that did not have an RSL. I have since gotten one, but that experience tested me. A combination of factors saved my life. I opened at the proper altitude, I identified my problem and the need to cutaway, I kept a clear head and followed my training. Almost. I had one hand on my cutaway and one hand on my reserve handle, but had trouble pulling the cutaway. I transfered both hands to it without looking at my reserve handle and cutaway. I forgot to watch my D-ring as I cutaway and my harness shifted, leaving me momentarily unable to find my reserve handle. I remember thinking "this could be it", not even thinking about the Cypres factor. Luckily I found the D-ring and all was fine. The good thing about having had a cutaway is that I now know I'm capable of carrying out my emergency procedures. I feel very confident about it. Also, the rush is like your first jump all over again!
  6. I prefer being referred to as "tribally gifted" thank you!
  7. gym...gym...I know I've heard that word before but I just can't seem to attach a meaning to it... Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a shot during the winter months.
  8. Text messaging is always a horrible way to communicate if there is ANY stress at all. Something comes across as loaded when it's not, or is invariably misperceived. Best to talk in person or, short of that, on the phone. And try to respect her and what she's saying as an individual, not as one of "the women" you can't figure out. If you can't see her except as one of a herd, you maybe shouldn't be going out with her. Just my thoughts... A.
  9. Meeting up with at least 2 other sky damsels after work for happy hour. We'll raise one for you!
  10. Not all het relationships involve sex. Nor do all gay relationships. What they usually do involve is intimacy. To me, being open to an intimate relationship with a woman makes me gay. Being open to an intimate relationship with a man makes me straight. Being both with a few tasty additions...well that just makes me queer.
  11. UPDATE: I'm happy to announce that after much trial and MUCH error I'm holding heading in a head down position and happily flopping between forward and backward motion, well aware of myself doing it. Even better, THE OUTSIDE OF MY UPPER LEGS WERE SORE AFTER LAST WEEKEND!!! Woohoo! I must be doing something right...
  12. Hey Nubain, any idea yet who perpetrated this? Any news regarding your job? If you do lose it, I recommend you take legal action. Hope it all turns out well...
  13. I think any sexual orientation (despite the "by definition" wording) has more to do with it than sex. I had one friend who described herself as a polyamorous pansexual polytheist. Did she earn this definition by having sex with many gods of different genders at the same time? I doubt it. But how cool would that be??

    I am curious

OOooooh, you don't really want that rig do you? I'll trade you all my pride, self respect and hearing ability for those cassette tapes... Hell, I'll even throw in my dignity and any chance of ever getting laid again, for good measure.

    Apparently, considerably less.

You have to remember too, that the point for most people spending thousands on a new rig is not only the custom design but the fit. This one was made to fit you, so it was worth 5k, it wasn't made to fit the taker, so it's worth less.
  17. I heard only amazing things about Freak N Suits so I ordered a pair of pants. They came in amazing time, were priced well, shipped quickly and looked great. I'm really happy with them and will be ordering a suit in a few weeks. There were a few things I didn't like though, although they are outweighed by the good: 1. The pants weren't really fitted for a female. I sent my measurements in and the pants came out loose around the waste, tight around the hips and butt and loose right under the butt (instead of curving under) as if they were sized for a guy. 2. The inside pocket is nearly impossible to get to and since it is really strong velcro, the trouble of getting to it AND opening it makes it kind of useless. Like I said, these things were outweighed by durability, customer service and looking damn cool, but I will be sure to note them to Sue and Angela on my next order. Hope this helps!
  18. Well, according to the fun little quiz I'm 60% gay which apparently means I'm openminded between the sheets and on the streets...I'm not sure what that means because I've never had one of "those" experiences on a street before. There have been some pretty weird places, but never the street... I'll get the proper medical exam next doctor's visit to find out if this is accurate and I'm really 60% gay.
  19. I currently jump a Safire 139 (could really be as small as a 128) and a PD 143 reserve. I'm going through the same dilemma as you for my new rig. I will be staying on this canopy for a couple more hundred jumps at least, and am switching to a PD 126 or Smart 135 reserve. I think. There's also a Smart 120 I might demo...it's hard to decide.
  20. That's not very much freefall at all. I wonder how much it affects learning curve--for jumpers with the same number of jumps and same currency...
  21. I bought my cheapo ticket so it looks like I'll be there December 24 - January 5. Woohoo! My first few hours in AZ are reserved for melting the ice off the surface of my body, but once I break free, THE SKIES ARE MINE!!!
  22. It sounds like you had a bad experience with your Wings. As someone ordering one at the end of this month, I'd really appreciate it if you'd tell your story, and any others you've heard in the negative. Thanks!
