That might be an "Unofficial" record, but unless Guiness was there to record it or they got good video, it doesn't get counted as official. not to mention that in market garden, the parachute drops occured over 2 days. I have no idea on how many where in the air at the same time. MB 3528, RB 1182

What they need in that picture is a guy wearing a red and white striped shirt with a namecard saying "waldo" for more fun, try to find these: The post office (easy) two hot chicks in white tank tops reading a map together (hard) graffetti that says "CODER" MB 3528, RB 1182

well, since the main had a lineover, it has a higher decent rate, plus if the jumper was in a turn or a spiral... also, im not sure what decent rate a FXC requires to fire reserve MB 3528, RB 1182

bch7773 replied to mazevedo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
our DZ trains roughly 100 S/L and tandem students a semister... about 1 will stick with it and get their license. mind you, it can't be the expense because its about $500 to get your A license at my DZ MB 3528, RB 1182 -

Do You use Packing Mat... Weight while packing?
bch7773 replied to Kid_Icarus's topic in The Bonfire
i usually tie risers together and use a weight. Especially when im packing a manta 288. best weight ever: while on a demo, we had to pack before we left... and of course we didn't have any weights... so we got the local kids to sit on our rigs while we packed em... they were fighting for the privelage of being our dead weight MB 3528, RB 1182 -
its gotta be more then 1%. I get it, and i know my father does... probably the women in my family too but chicks won't usually tell you that. either its genetic, or more than 1% MB 3528, RB 1182

Flat packing a Triathlon
bch7773 replied to bluewaterstream's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
as far as I know, you can flat pack or pro pack almost any normal square canopy (excludes crossbraced pocket rockets probably) that being said, i've always pro packed mine and the openings have been fine. except lately, but thats because its badly outta trim. MB 3528, RB 1182 -

Whats the fallrate of a pumpkin?
bch7773 replied to bch7773's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We tried a couple onions today. They float quite a bit, way too floaty to even belly fly with them. Next to try is a sunkist dive! MB 3528, RB 1182 -
Whats the fallrate of a pumpkin?
bch7773 replied to bch7773's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well everyone, the moment you have been waiting for.... the answer to the question is: Faster then a sitfly!!! We jumped the pumpkin today, exit went great, and when i was holding onto it we were doing about normal belly speeds, but then i handed it off to another jumper and he dropped it. It fell like a rock, and he went headdown after it. The camera guy and I both went into spikes and could barely keep up. The jumper in headdown fell about the same speed as it, and almost managed to grab it. It fell pretty stable, not a lot of spinning, but it slid around the sky quite a bit. It was a lot of fun. so anyways, the 22% of you who guessed "faster then sitfly speed" were right. MB 3528, RB 1182 -

Our pilot normally cuts the engine for climbout on our C182. You can definitely tell if the engines cut or not when you are out on the strut. MB 3528, RB 1182

I've always heard that ground rush is actually caused by how your eyes work. that you can't focus on things farther then 3000-4000 feet. (you can see them, but your eyes just tell your brain that object is "far") so once the ground gets closer then that distance, your brain can actually see it getting closer. and of course this effect seems scarier the lower you get. thats the explanation i've heard anwyays MB 3528, RB 1182

Whats the fallrate of a pumpkin?
bch7773 replied to bch7773's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We are planning on taking a pumpkin up in freefall this weekend, and having a giant pumpkin spaceball jump... but everybody at my DZ has a different opinion of how fast a pumpkin would fall at terminal. Whats your guess? Its a pretty good size pumpkin, bigger then a persons head. It hasn't been cut open or anything, and the only thing on it is a duct tape handle. Has anyone been in freefall with a pumpkin and can tell me the speed it fell? and yes, we are gonna spot way out in the middle of nowhere, and tell people on the ground when we are doing it, etc. MB 3528, RB 1182 -
