i have a 94 javelin, and my rigger did a couple quick modifications that took about an hour, and about 20-30 bucks i think. now those flaps NEVER come open, where before the changes those damn flaps would pop open all the time MB 3528, RB 1182

all i can guess is that its something similar to goosebumps? and for someone who asked, a ballsack moves around because testicles must be kept at a certain temp to keep the sperm healthy. so the ballsack moves in closer to body heat when its cold out, and farther from the body when its hot out. ooo interesting. its funny, but yeah the very last photo is a photoshop job. its pretty easy to see someone cropped and rotated the bigger truck from an earlier frame. MB 3528, RB 1182

real tv's commentary is a joke... i've seen a video of theirs where you can see the skydiver's altimeter in the backround, and its at 3000. meanwhile the announcer says "hes at 500 feet... 3 seconds till impact" that being said, i've seen a guy do a soft landing, he stands it up, then suddenly falls over. he broke his ankle. bones are weird sometimes MB 3528, RB 1182

What can we do about Skyride?
bch7773 replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hey thats great news. just to let you know, Kansas State University Parachute Club was approached by skyride and we told em no. The club officers decided that we would not take skyride anytime in the future either. You know of any kansas DZ's that take em? lets see if we can't make the entire state skyride free. that is kinda weird... didn't he just say a week or two ago that he was honored and happy to be offered it? MB 3528, RB 1182

Thoughts on training with a suspended harness
bch7773 replied to Jeth's topic in Safety and Training
we have 3 at our DZ and I really like them for student training... you can put them into line twists and make them kick out, or shake em around as they do the pulls. plus when they pull the sos handle they cut away about 4 inches... makes a loud bang and really scares em. of course we don't tell them that will happen MB 3528, RB 1182 -
How much wind at 12k is too fast to jump?
bch7773 replied to Jib's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
one day we had a 80 mph wind at 10k. We wanted to a cross country, but unfortionately we also had a 30 mph crosswind on the runway so no go. MB 3528, RB 1182 -

One of my skydiving buddies has a friend in the army who flies blackhawks... we are always asking him if we could jump outta it. We find out the pilot is leaving for iraq in december. Last weekend as we were about to send up another load at the DZ, a blackhawk helocopter flies down onto the runway and lands... I start getting excited, and go make sure my rig is packed and i have my camera. I'm thinking this must be the pilot and hes coming to give us a jump before he leaves. I'm practically dancing on my way to gear up. so imagine my disapointment when the damn thing takes off and starts flying again. We talk to him on radio and discover hes a random blackhawk pilot out practicing. well at least i got to see him driving down the runway... i didn't know helocopters could drive around on their wheels. whats interesting is that it was sold for 1,200 buy it now option... it looks like the seller was in it for the money all along... a $1200 buy it now option for something she only wanted to sell to "help her kid" and the ghost "cancelled the previous auction"... more like she wasn't gonna get enough money for it. at least the person who bought it has a record of bidding and not paying... I think they have the right to make their childs medical decisons, as long as it doesn't hurt the child. that being said, they are wrong for not giving their child the gift of hearing. i guess because they have never heard things, they assume its no big deal. MB 3528, RB 1182

you also have to start watching that they are on correctly before exit... theres nothing more annoying then one bootie that was only half put on coming off on exit and spending the rest of the dive countering a turn. MB 3528, RB 1182

cutting the reserve with a hookknife wouldn't take long at all, just a swipe through each riser. this is one of those instances that a hook knife would really really come in handy. MB 3528, RB 1182

I got my Z1 over a year ago and put about 150 jumps on it. I have had no major problems with it at all. I only had it pop open once in freefall, after receiving a hard kick to the face that i think would have knocked me out if it wasn't for the helmet. The few times that I've left the plane without closing it, I've been able to shut it in freefall, no problem. Never had a problem with the liner, or the latch for the faceshield. The paint on it seems to scratch easily, but a wet rag removes 90% of the scratches, which apparently are just surface scratches. The only problem I have with it is that its almost impossible to talk to people when you are wearing it. But i think this is just a general fullface problem.
