  1. Found This Well, another DZ joins in with WL restrictions. You will see more of these. I wonder why they are putting htem into place? If it is insurance reasons, or just tired of watching peopl get carried off. I'll call and then up date this when I know. 2. You could still make it ten, and all standup, but you could make the target bigger. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  3. And "Know it alls" with very litte experience, that don't listen and think they know better is the thing that pisses me off most in this sport...So I guess we are even huh? And my jump #'s mean I have done 3,000 times what you have only done 400, or Nathans 100. So who should know more? You, him, me? I have shoes with 400 jumps. I'd bet on me. 4. 1. They see a serious accident. 2. They have an accident, or a close call and it scares them out of it. Some people jump a few more times, but the fear gets them. 3. Politics...Putting up with others BS. 4. They don't see a way to progress. 5. Dealing with know it alls. Drives them crazy. 6. Money issues. 7. Some just don't get it...Others just don't enjoy it. 8. Significant other wants them to quit. 9. It gets old after a while. There are more. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  5. Im done with you on this..... If you wish to bicker more PM me. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  6. Once again you are showing your lack of experience in the sport. Why argue with people that have 10 X your jumps? You look foolish doing that. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  7. But I know more with 300 jumps that don't have a clue than 6,000. Then you say So which is it? Do I look after the people that don't know enough to know they are doing something stupid? Or do I not? Or, they might THINK they know what could happen. And of course it will not happen to him, he is too skilled. And I don't have to be psychic to see the same story over and over again...Its like watching a movie...I know the people, and I know the plot. So when the ending comes again, it never surprizes me. Can't he be a hotshot, and a guy trying to improve himself? Maybe the guy trying to improve himself IS the hotshot? 8. Ya mean just like this Now where did I saw you are not allowed to have an opinion? I said before they even start to think they know more than anyone else. Where does that say you are not allowed to have an opinion? It is saying that some people need to understand that unless you have been in the sport for a while...you don't know all there is to know. I don't know all there is to know. How is a guy with 300 jumps going to? I guess I could be stupid (Which is possible). But I think it might be more an issue of some people thinking they know more than they do. If a guy that just finished the FJC comes up to you and starts telling you you are wrong....Is he allowed to have an opinion? Yes he is...Does he have a clue? Maybe not. Like I said...try READING waht I wrote, insted of reading what you thought it said. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  9. Thats not what I wrote.... BIG difference between having an opinion, and thinking you know it all. Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  10. Yep and the sight. I think people should be in the sport long enough to change a set of CYPRES battery's before they even start to think they know more than anyone else. Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  11. The Airspeed rig was Kirk Verners...A guy did jump it, and cut away and landed under a really screwed up reserve. This was at Vandaila IL. The Mullins Kid was Charlie. Charlie pulled out his reserve to put a new one in and found the damage. Charlie had been in Vandaila with his Dad right before this. These was a packer in DeLand that claimed her rig had this done to it. Don't remember her name, but I remember that no one really believed her. 12. A large number of accidents is people turing to avoid an object...This will help in a direct way. I only did the Pro thing in a "Normal" accuracy approach for the Star Trac I and the Sharpchutter. (I did do one landing on the Velocity straight in to show the S&TA to sign off my PRO recurancy). But the 107 , the 96 and the 88 we done with hook turns. There is more to hooking than just being at the right attitude...You aso have to avoid objects on the ground, and people in the air. Because if you can do the PRO thing...Trust me you learn about canopy flight...Try it. Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  13. This was in my original proposal... I still stand by it. If you can't do this, then you can't fly the canopy you have now..And should not down size. I have done it under a Star Trac I, Sharpchutter, Stiletto 107, Velocity 96, Extreme 88. Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  14. And the canopy pilot does not have the experience to know better...So someone must show them. Problem is there is not enough education out there, and young hot shots don't listen. And they are not doing this...as evidenced by the fact they are killing themselves. SO you want to regulate the manuvers, but not wingloading...Its still regulation. So again...The sign off is regulation..You can't do this, till you do that. Same thing buddy. But I want WL regulated. And if you are skilled enoogh you can jump whatevre you want. Many people learned to swoop on Stilettos...Like me. This is BS. Using this logic we shoud get rid of the Pull altitude BSR's, and any BSR's for students...If they are smart enough to find a good place they will survive...If they just want to put on a rig and jump, we should let them. They will either learn or die...Again BS. Never blamed the lack of reguations...I blamed the lack of education, and the ability of young "Jonny hotshot" to get what ever he wants with any experience or skill to handle it. And no supervision from the DZO's S&TA's ect.... Nope I owe it as guy with 10 years and 3,000 jumps to look after the people below me...Just like the ones above me look out for me now, and just like the ones that looked out for me then. And FWIW...I have 7.5 times the EXPERIENCE you do, and I have jumped as small as the Extreme 69......So maybe I know more? If a guy with 22,500 jumps started saying things to me I'd listen...Hell I listen to EVERYONE. MAybe thats one reason I have been around so long? 15. Well the problem is I hear people say "Let Darwin rule" as an excuse to do nothing. I don't accept that. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  16. Do you think the guy standing there minding his own cares what the odds were? Would you? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  17. Here is one "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  18. 1.7 at 50 jumps? 2.0 at 300 ????? This is the exactly the wrong way to go. I jump a 1.7 now with almost 3,000 jumps Thats just YOUR DZ...there are several in the US that do not do that. Under most of the proposals..If you are good enough you can get to jump what you want. Under mine you have to prove you are ready to downsize by passing a test under the canopy you have now. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  19. 200 jumps and a 1.5 is the combination of the most dead people last year under canopy...It would do nothing. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  20. Tandem Helmets...Not a bad idea if it is just a frap hat, but I don't see the need. For the TM YES! I wear one. The girl that wants her D at 120 jumps... I want a Gold in open 4way...Can the USPA just mail me one? Oh, and I want an AFF rating, but I have not been able to take the time off work...USPA can ya hook a brother up? Its not the USPA's fault (Unles she gets it) She asked her RD and he did what I expect them to do...He took it up. Just like my RD is taking my canopy concerns up. 21. So you don't think experience plays a part in survival? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  22. Not 15 years ago. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  23. Yes, but D was 200 jumps. Not 500. 300 jumps is a large amount of experience. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  24. I can live with it...It is better than nothing. I still like the idea of making people prove they are ready to downsize. My only issue is with : The problem is that this is already not working at a large number of DZ's...If it was then we would not have this problem. But like I said its better than nothing.
