Bluetrack? Viper? VIP? Oh I am sure, but you have to admit that at only 40ish jumps she is not tuned in to any canopy yet, much less a new one. I think changing more than any one thing at a time is a bad idea. New DZ (1) with a new rig (2) and new parachute (3) while learning a new type of skydive (4) is way to many thing that *could* go wrong. Add in that the person has only 40 total jumps and that is a lot of new stuff at one time. I think one of the dumbest things gear retailers do is lend new canopies to jumpers that just show up. I also think that demos at boogies are stupid. Take a jumper that might normally jump at a cessna dz and they only have a 100 jumps. Suddenly they are at Rantol and they have mutiple, large aircraft dumping people all over the place. Then you want to loan them a new canopy in a new rig? Hell, I don't demo stuff at boogies. I want to know my canopy and gear very well in a hectic environment. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Depends on what you consider "Bang". From this :http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1314150#1314150 Seems like several think a tunnel session is a good idea. As for students peep this from that thread: I can take a student with problems and fix them in seconds in the tunnel. I can take a person and teach them *much* faster than in freefall. I can pull them out, talk to them and put them back in 10 seconds. In freefall we have to land and get into another plane. Thats 15 min at best. Very true, and it will not teach deployment mals, or canopy ride and landing. However if I can make it so that the freefall was a piece of cake, I can focus on the other things more. You should try some of the new tunnels if you have not. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I have no stake either way, however. Phree you know that reading all the books in the world means nothing without the experience to put those words into practice. Other than that, I hope nothing happens....And if it does, I hope she is an adult and signed a waiver. For every body I have helped hold to gether, for every funeral I have been to, the jumper and someone else always thought nothing would go bad. Need I mention this mths Parachutist incident reports? A guy 3 times the legal driving limit, with Cocaine in his system doing a night jump on a 2.0 loaded Xbraced canopy. Some people thought that was a good idea also. And here is another guy that can't help but make everything about Bush. Take your own anti-Bush advice...Move on. And as For criminal record...Well at least Bush's criminal acts were before he was in office, unlike Clintons "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

No more like Pavlovs experiment. You say something bad....Most times its something bad about Bush. So the automatic response is logical given the amount of times it has happened. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Because you can only tell an adult so many times that they are making a bad choice. After a while they tell you to fuck off, or just stop listening to you. You can talk to people till they are blue in the face and they will not listen if they don't want to listen. I can't tell you the number of times that I have had conversations just like this before..... ME: ya know thats a bad idea. Them: I'll be fine. Me: You are pushing it a bit to fast, and might get hurt. Them :You don't know me. Me:I have seen many people do the same thing and get hurt. Them: I am smarter, faster, better than they were. Me: Thats what they all thought as well. Them: Leave me alone, you are just jelious. Me: No, I am concerned. Then: Did I ask you to be concerned...Who are you my Dad? Me: No. Them: Then leave me alone. Many times the best thing you can do is say: Thats a bad idea. Then wait around to write the accident report. OK so? No, they should only make the "I am sponsored by" comment when it is something they were sponsored with. For example, if I were to talk about rigs I would have to say "I am sponsored by RWS" But if I were talking about AAD's, I would not since I have NO sponsorship from any AAD maker. Easy. So are you in the 90% or the 10%? I am in the 90% and openly tell people that I do or do not have sponsorship so that they can make the choice to listen to me or not, or what degree to listen to me. Whats wrong with being honest and disclosing that info? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

1. Rig not hers...does she have one at 40 jumps? I mean you did AFF with a rig that was not yours. 2. DZ that is not hers...Well you have to go to a new DZ at some time. 3. Eliptical canopy. Well if its big enough, and she is heads up enough...And has a GREAT understanding of the differences....She signed a waiver. 4. Learning to sit....Well you have to do something on the skydive 5. Obsticals....Well they are everywhere. She signed a waiver. While I don't agree with doing so much new stuff at one time. She I hope is over 18 and signed a waiver. Yes, but everyones opinons are slanted. Very few people don't get some kind of deal in this sport. Which is why when I start talking gear I always disclose if I got it from a sponsorship....People should be informed of that. Now I will not accept something for free that I woudl not buy, and I would not say something is good if I didn't think that...as I am sure *most* will not either. But I think anyone sponsored should say so BEFORE they give gear advice. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Based on stereotypes you would think that anyone with a job would not vote democratic Edit to add...I can see how many folks would think skydivers are democratic. Most skydivers are very liberal socially. That is a democratic stereotype. Freelovin, substance using, tye dye wearin, adrenalin junkies are not typically thought of as Conservatives, or republicans. BTW do your know what "dooring" is? Some asshole gets pissed off and uses a gun (That I bet he is not licensed to carry) to try and attack a guy that is driving along. Now, if a guy came at you with a gun....Would you like to be able to have one to defend yourself if you can't escape? Or would you rather just "die in place" as we used to say in the military? Escape is the better option than a shoot out, but since we all agree that a criminal type will get a gun if he wants, and a criminal type WILL commit violent crimes with or without a gun. (Your "crimes of passion" statement was wrong...More deaths in those situations are from BFT.) Why make it so law abiding citizens can't defend themselves from criminals? People will always take the path of least resistance. If you wanted to kill someone would you fight him with your fists, or use a weapon? You will use the most effective tool that you can find. That tool will be a gun, or poision. But the real question is this...If you know that bad people will do bad things. Why not want to be able to defend yourself? As once said: Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft! Next time just tell him that most crashed happen at takeoff or landing. To low for a big as parachute to work. If that does not work, you could always shoot him with any gun you find laying around. How can you disagree with a fact? I have never read or heard ONE story about a gun going out and killing someone. I however have read many stories about a PERSON using a GUN to kill someone. A gun IS a tool. A gun will not kill someone unless it is used. Those are facts. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
