If you ever get the flying one position no grips try doing the exit and turing points that way, it is great practice for timing and flying skills, especially stopping. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

Dale, The most helpful bit of advice for me was from the new member of Airspeed, Eliana. She suggested rotating my elbows so that they are not sticking straight out from my body but are more in front of me in what they call a "mantis" position. The removal of the extra "wings" gave me a ton more range. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

I just got back from a tunnel camp today. I flew in the Airspeed tunnel camp (tunnelcamp.com) and it was incredible. We had 1 student who had 7 jumps and had almost quit the sport due to a high speed spin. By the end of the camp he was flying better than most people who have hundreds of jumps. Another guy with 2 tandems only, was turning star dougnut points well. Point is that in a few days these students who couldn't fall stable now were moving at will and had few is any issues with stability at any time. I ahve heard that the SkyVenture instructors are very good for basic stability as well. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

Does anyone know where the incident occured because i saw a reserve blow up at ELoy recently God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

Anne has it. Look at the center or other person and make the adjustments when they are small not after the turn. If you know that you are going to sink out start the turn with a little pop (6 inches) to give you a little cushion to work with and then you can settle down into the level or you already have a head start to fight the drop. Last on occation waiting too long to turn your head or going way too early can force your body into an odd position that will encourage spilling air. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

As sympathetic as I am to your concern I think that the audible being tooloud is a small concern that could be remidied with a small bit of fabric or tape. I think that you should remember that you primary reason for wearing an audible is to HEAR IT. Just a thought. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

I went to the Basic Skills camp in Eloy in Nov. IT WAS AWSOME. I think that i learned more in those 50 jumps than I had in the other 150 that I had. They will show you what it is like to team train, how to debreif and analyze, and most of all how to PEDAL. It is really a great chance to meet people who want to learn and be in an environment that fosters that and the rate that you jump at means that you are in a situation where you can learn optimally. Have fun, bring snacks, and pay a packer, I like Astrid (tell her that Chris recommended her). God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

Welcome to the floaters club!!! It can suck in the begining but like Rob said you willhave much more range when you refine your position and normally only have to have 1 RW suit, where fat boys have to have 3-5. But other than that get a nylon frontted tight fitting jump suit with sapandex forarms and a spandex back. You might look like some Disco Freek, mine is royal blue with neon yellow tape, your jumps willbe much more fun. Now I don't kow about allof you but accepting a GIFT CERTIFICATE for sex from my boss, an older woman, just seems strange. I mean I guess that I am just a bit stuck on the visual but her saying go have a good time just seems odd. I mean what do you give the women or the older men. Do some people get a Viagra prescription with their bonus. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

That was a beautiful thought even for someone who is not particularly religious. I have a silly habbit of kissing my closing pinneclace like someone would a rosary. I often get odd stares but it works for my mind. It is kind of a mental way for me to say I have planned and doneallI can now I must trust that everything will be all right. I have been to a few Airspeed camps and agree that if you get the cashand time to go ther DO IT. However, if you are isolated then anyexperienced point of view may help. Alsoit was what they reomended to me as a good introduction tape before coming to the Skills Camp. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

The idea is to do away with the easier of all the awards and keep the more dificult. I agree that the Silver Falcon should be kept because so few people have it or qualify. It does take a big effort to make it into a 36 way. I mean You can get 3 good jumpers to pull someone through 4 points on a 4 way and a 2 point 8 way might not require any movement on the persons part but a 36 way requires effort. Why not add awards for large groups docking late? God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

Adding my 2 cents on the notion of it being O.K. to pull near the top of the pull range. My observation from tracking in big ways is that once someone has 10-15' of vertical advantage over you they will most likely out track you and since you might not know who is tracking in your direction you should assume that they will track right over you and PULL LOWER than if you were breaking wiht the group. First of WOW to you for sticking with it. It can be very discouraging for someone to have these types of problems. I agree with the general sentiment of going to the tunnel for some Body position checks but think that the benefit of confidence may be even more important. Often these types of asymetry are normal due to your body and its idiocincacies and are made worse by tension. Try to relax but get to the tunnel if you can it will be worth 10 jumps of practice. I'll bet once you get this licked you will brease throught the rest of AFF. Stick in there. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

VIking I hope that it really is nothing. You know that sometimes young people have occational irregular beats. Also the stress and likely lack of sleep could contribute. On the other note. During the Big Way camp at Eloy Kate Cooper wore a heart monitor during one jump during which she had a cutaway. She sadi that it spike from like 115 just before the pull to 170 after the reserve deployment. All landed well. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

I think that the step that you are missing is the flare and stop in a 45 deg stairstep out from the formation. By stopping several feet above and outside the formation you prevent the potetial of hitting the formation and hurting people and allow yourself the opportunity to guard against going low and can make a safe no momentum approach to the formation. Airspeed does a pin check on every jump. Just a thought that is the best team in the world does it maybe we all should. God bless us and God Bless America Albatross

Yeah I was there. The Big way camp was a blast. We built a 46 way out of 3 planes and had a great weekend. As for the low turn Mike is in the hospital for observation. He has a broken back (No spinal cord injury!!) and a bad concusion. I am hoping to get updates as we know more. All of our hopes and prayers are with our friend.
