I think we should send an army of US tequila drinking midgets to show their women how to rub bellies and feed grapes and then the males will be too busy to fight.

I went from a stiletto 135 to a Katana 120. Approx 185lbs out the door. Overall it was worth it. Deeper flare on Katana, easier to land in zero winds. more responsive to riser input, I can go into a steep dive just by leaning in the harness, couldn't do that on the stiletto. Much larger recovery arc in a riser turn, does not plane out completely after turn, so easier to judge the swoop. Continues turning after riser release longer than the stiletto. Openings no worse than stiletto, I have had 1 major line twist on the Katana and it flew OK. More sensitive to me loosening my chest stap. I can scare my audible in a riser turn, never able to do that on the stiletto. Looses altitute like its going out of fashion in a toggle turn, it is very very ground hungry compared to my stiletto, this really suprised me, although on a long spot using rear risers or toggle extended its range considerably. I love flying it. It is a much more HP canopy than the stiletto if that makes sense. I think it requires more skill to control, it is more of a wild aminal than the stiletto

If a Muslim read this he might believe that all Americans despise them in the same way that you do, I assure them that this is not the case. I think the views you have expressed are racist and bigoted. I have never met anyone in person who expressed views such as you. I think you are using this forum as a way to spread hatred of Muslims, why are you doing this, it will not help heal the rift between our culture and the Muslim world, in fact it will only help to perpetuate the violence that is going on at the moment. Do you want the violence to continue, do you get a kick out of seeing dead bodies on the news, do you enjoy seeing the federal deficit climb as we pay for this war?

I use a .3 from cookie composites with mine and it works great. The .45 would probably do just as well.

Either that or a discussion about whether we should pass a constitutional ammendment extending the right to bear arms to human embryos so they could defend themselves against athiest do-gooders.

Guns were introduced into this thread in the first post, not by me. Go to the top of the thread and have a look. I never said folks were not entitled to an opinion, what did I write that gave you this impression? I often see people accused of this when they post a conflicting opinion in SC. It would be nice if people would express their own opinions a little more rather than just cutting and pasting from NRA (or similar) website or writing what they had heard on talk radio. I do not agree with a gun ban, I think you should be able to shoot for fun. I do think the USA has a high gun death rate compared to other 1st world/civilised countries and I think some sort of gun control could reduce this. I do not know what this would be, but with highly polarised groups like the NRA pumping out propoganda like this it is unlikely that a rational debate aimed at finding some sort of solution to the problem will ever occur.
-
SC is bombarded by right wing anti-gun-control threads. It is propaganda, plain and simple. The purpose to strengthen support for the anti-gun control lobby. This thread for instance carries the message that if gun control is allowed in the USA that eventually other types of weapon will be controlled. This is SC so folks can post what they like, but you shouldn't try to argue that this is not politically motivated by groups with an agenda. Oh, but wait, if people reaslise that then the propaganda will not work because it will be recognised for the BS it really is.

Oh by the way, the guy that owns this site has a kinda funny attitude about people who insult his "guests". You might want to read up on what constitutes a Personal Attack if you intend on continuing to post here. Read the rules again, no I could not see what would constitute a personal attack, however if you were insulted that I suggested you were an NRA member then I apologize.
-
Or no apparent counter point. The point of this thread was to take a report from a couple of medical doctors and make it sound like the UK was trying to ban kitchen knives. This kind of thread, or actual 2 identical ones in this case, is pure NRA propaganda and in not intended to invoke intelligent discussion. It is really intended to bring more people over to the point of view of of the NRA, a kind of political statement. Discussing it is pointless as the kind of person that would post this is programmed to be an NRA drone and will use cut and paste from NRA literature to respond rather than their own thought and that is quite boring.

Maybe she wants the support and friendship of others in the same position as she is. Some people do things in life for reasons other than personal financial gain you know. Reading what you say makes me think that you are somehow blaming her for wanting to join rather than admitting that an organisation such as this could possibly be behaving in a racist, elitist way.

Two posts on the same topic in close proximity. The NRA shepard has his sheep under good control...

[replyFederal debt is about $7.7 trillion It was about $5.9 trillian when bush started, the rate at which bush is borrowing is huge compared to previous presidents, all that extra borrowed cash is one reason that there is more money for the states. What you quote here are projections (I forget for what year) The report is, soon coming, will show what is coming into the federal pockets. I am confident it will show large increases in money coming in.......because of a better economy caused by cutting tax rates! These are not projections they are actual figures as of 5.25. http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/

[replyThey are not reporting "why" there is so much more money. If a Dem was in the White House I fully believe that the media would be giving some credit to the policies of that administration Last time I looked we had a record federal deficit, did you forget that or were you just using the data that supported your goal of "liberal media" bashing. Federal debt is about $7.7 trillion It was about $5.9 trillian when bush started, the rate at which bush is borrowing is huge compared to previous presidents, all that extra borrowed cash is one reason that there is more money for the states.

You title conflicts with your post, an oxymoron, you claim the media is not reporting something and then you quote two major news outlets for a story

it discontinued by sony, I don't think you'll find it. what's wrong with grey market?
-
only in on-line stores. Several of the real cheap ones are like this, esp, amazon and yahoo, that's the beauty of competition :)
-
The price changes by a few $$s from day to day, w/e prices are usually lower.
-
www.dbuys.com I've bought 3 cameras from them in the past.
-
Excelent info, that probably makes it the best sony currently available for skydiving use when considering quality, ease of use and cost. I've seen it on-line at trustworthy store for $715.

Camera choice, advantages of buying Sony??
sfc replied to andyflylife's topic in Photography and Video
what is your budget? do you want to sell your video? (how much do you care about quality) do you want side or top mount? How much weight do you want to carry on your head? These things will help to figure out which model to buy. -
I was at an electronics store today so I got a chance to handle the HC90. It has all the ports on the camera, so you wont need a docking station. It has issues with the location of the power, AV and lanc ports, they would be up against the helmet if you have the camera mounted on the left like most people. You will also have to remove the camera to charge it, a pain, although you will probably have a spare battery if you are doing tandems so this will not be a big issue. It was light weight and as easy to use as the HC40. I'd recommend this over the PC350 just for the price, however I don't know if anyone is making a mount for it, you would have to make one of your own. I would choose this if I had the money and motication to change camera now, it should work well for tandems. The best video tandem I saw was from an HC85, not sure if this is still available. it has a huge lens, really good in low light, you should see if you can get one of these, but it is a top mount camera. Other older cameras to consider second hand that I have seen produce good results, PC 105 was good with some reliability issue however, PC120/110s were exellent although a little heavy. PC9 was good, better than the HC40 in low light. I guess I cant really make an exact recommendation for you because there are several factors that can change the choice. Going back to your original choice between the HC43 and PC350, the PC350 wins hands down for tandem work you will not regret buying it it is a great camcorder.

They are not actually the same optics even if the resolution is the same. The PC109 (and HC40) have a 1/5 inch CCD. The HC42 has a 1/5.5 inch CCD, this is smaller although it has the same resolution, being smaller means that it gets less light, so it does not work so well in low light. For jumping in direct sunlight this is no problem, but you will see a difference in end of day jumps or if it is cloudy. As you said the HC90 (and PC350) have a 1/3 inch CCD, this is huge compared to the HV42, you will get good low light footage with this compared to the cameras with the smaller CCDs. It all depends on what you are after, the HC42 is probably a fine camera for casual use, although if you were going to film tandems and sell your video I would not recommend it.
-
The HC42 has a really tiny CCD, smaller than the HC40, I have the HC40 and it is not great in low light late sunset jumps, the HC42 will probably be worse. I'd recomment the HC90, it is a lot cheaper than the PC350 but appears to have the same optics,a huge CCD compared to the HC42.

I'm sick of this crap too. Always blame the cops. It's their fault they guy stole a car, evaded police and then tried to run them over. What's a cop supposed to do; let this guy drive around till he kills someone with a stolen car. Then after he runs out of gas pull him out of the car. IMHO the new guideline are a bunch of BS. Pretty soon all cops will be able to do is hold up their badge and shout "Stop". Should we give the cops the right to shoot anyone they see commiting a crime? The problem is that the cops are not judges, they are not the jury, it is not acceptable that they shoot someone "because they deserved it", that is not their job, if they are protecting someone or themselves in immediate danger that is one thing, to shoot because someone 'might' be a danger later is not acceptable.
