chutingstar replied to Hans's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well, well, well...you all knew it would happen eventually. Ben and Cary have put up a new "rigging" web site and have taken alot of the text I developed for Chutingstar's web site...and just changed a few things here and there...nice. Their new rigging web site... http://www.parachuteplace.com/ Whatever...come up with something original next time... Mike ChutingStar.com -

Well a bit late...but I finally put something up about Chutingstar's move on the web site as well as a few reasons for why we left...for whatever that's worth... http://www.chutingstar.com/archives/00000114.html Mike ChutingStar.com -
Got it...thank you!!! Mike ChutingStar.com

I had two Para Innovators seat packs dropped off over the weekend and am having trouble locating a manual. The links from the parachuteriggers.com web site aren't working to the manuals. Does anyone have one...or know someone that does? Let me know... Thank you, Mike ChutingStar.com

You can also buy the rubber bands Para-Gear purchases straight from the manufacturer (Keener) without the markup. Their web site is http://www.rubberbands.com/. Quantity may be an issue for individual jumpers, but shouldn't be an issue for drop zones and/or rigging lofts. Mike ChutingStar.com

I'm on my third Para-Gear press, but I have packed nearly 2500 reserves. Earlier this year, someone from Performance Designs recommended purchasing a press from Hans Ostermünchner when we got on the discussion of seal presses and other options. His web site is http://www.fallschirmdepot.de/. And his e-mail is hans.ostermuenchner@t-online.de. Anyway here is the info pricing on his seal presses per an e-mail: the seal press costs 33 € ea and I have them in stock. >> Shipping for 2 presses is another 23,40 €. >> >> You can pay with C/C or you may mail a bank check. >> >> Just let me know, whether I shall send you 2 or not. >> >> Blue Skies >> >> Hans >> >> PS: Please mail me also with your shipping address. >> >> Fallschirmdepot Ostermünchner GmbH >> Tölzer Strasse 14 >> 83677 Greiling >> Germany >> +49 8041 70319 >> +44 8041 31 71 fax I have ordered one to see the difference in quality because I seem to go through a Para-Gear ordered press about every 2 years. Anyway, I'll probably post something on my Rant and Rave once I receive it and try it out. Hope that helps, Mike ChutingStar.com

Number of tandems/year at ASC (was: Skyride)
chutingstar replied to packerboy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If they don't have ratings, they won't be able to jump with students. Thanks for the correction on SIM. Just make sure you read what's inside so you don't post the misinformation as in earlier posts. But it is "it's" not "it" ... whatever ... get over yourself. Mike ChutingStar.com -
Number of tandems/year at ASC (was: Skyride)
chutingstar replied to packerboy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sanctioned by who? USPA. Not if you are not a group member dz.... Read the S&TA Handbook as well as the SIMS. A "sanctioned DZ" is one that follows the BSRs. Being a "group member" is not a BSR. USPA third-party liability is still effective at "sanctioned DZs." And "sanctioned DZs" will still have an S&TA (me). If ASC does indeed lose its group membership on Sept. 2, the DZ will continue to follow the BSRs (as it has in the past) and remain a "sanctioned DZ." Mike ChutingStar.com -

I am the only one working to keep my group member status. I have no idea what Ben/Cary are doing as to USPA's decision for their drop zones and themselves. I did know my group membership was based on ASC. My thoughts/arguments on that have been sent to the USPA Exec. Comm. We'll see where it goes from there. Where do you get your information?...whatever... Mike ChutingStar.com -

This, from my services page of Chutingstar's web site: Relative Work Coaching with Video Relative Work Coaching with Video is available for all levels of skydivers. Veteran competitive 4-way skydiver Mike Gruwell can help you complete the A-License proficiency card, learn a new belly-flying body position and improve your overall flying ability. $30 per jump plus your lift ticket. Now, I know that isn't as complete as "running the school" as far as what's on my web site, but my site is mainly dedicated to the rigging portion of my business. And I do manage the instructor staff and run the coaching school. Whether we are a group member DZ or not, we will follow the BSRs. There has never been a safety issue at ASC. Even if we end up not being a group member DZ, we will continue to follow the BSRs and will be recognized as a "sanctioned DZ." Also, Chutingstar already has a group membership. It's just a matter of whether I will be allowed to keep it or if USPA wants me to continue as a group member. Ben/Cary never approached me about becoming a group member; they didn't even know I was group member until they saw the listing in Parachutist. This is something I sought on my own to further my own business and relationship with the USPA. Mike ChutingStar.com -

But don't you run the "school"? Yes...but I don't have the stats in front of me. Mike ChutingStar.com -

Not sure on the number of tandem jumps per year...but as far as the saves list, alot of those tandem saves were from an instructor who had two older Vector tandem rigs and had his girlfriend packing for him. He no longer works at ASC. Anyway...they had an unusually high amount of malfunctions over a two-year period. Still waiting on the beer from those. Mike ChutingStar.com -
What can we do about Skyride?

I also run the student and coaching schools as well as manage the instructors. Chuting Star Rigging Loft is listed as a professional skydiving school. Mike ChutingStar.com -

Sept. 2 at this point, although there is a review process in order on Chutingstar's group membership. Mike ChutingStar.com -
Glad I was able to spend that week with all of you guys earlier this year down at the beach house while spending time at RWS. Was looking forward to more of that... Spent much time with Egon and Bruno at ASC and down in Florida...just spoke with Egon on Friday thanking him for my new Vector...can't believe how fast we can lose our friends. Mike ChutingStar.com

trying to buy a shoulder brace for jumping
chutingstar replied to calledisrael's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The Chutingstar brace is not a modification of yours...it was designed for a few skydivers who have had shoulder problems in the Atlanta area...haven't seen any of your contraptions. Anyway, if you are interested in the shoulder brace we make, you'll have to stop by the loft since we size it specifically with you here. Mike ChutingStar.com -
What can we do about Skyride?
chutingstar replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
well mike just heard of this recently i think, past few days or so. he also has a group membership at asc for chuting starr rigging loft. and i beleive he got that for advertising purposes. i dont think it was so that they have a "piggy back membership". although maybee group memberships should be reserved for dropzone's and not a rigging loft. but who knows, mike maybee wanted to show that he is part of uspa and supports them by being a group member. but i also think that asc should not be able to use it in any way. i like mike personally too, he has clouded vision though, i would love to see him get out of there. then i could have my favorite rigger back. but untill then i will use other riggers. Ron and Mark, My primary focus is on providing high-quality rigging services to my customers and the customers of the ASC group of drop zones. I also manage the staff at Atlanta Skydiving Center and run the student/coaching school (through Chutingstar). It is my intention that everyone who walks through ASC's doors has the best experience of their lives...be it a first-time student, a whuffo just watching, a rigging customer, a visiting jumper or an everyday regular skydiver. ASC is my skydiving home. It may be dysfunctional on several levels, but I'm not leaving all of my skydiving and work friends because of what Ben/Cary may/may not have done. My job is to make ASC's skydiving operation run smoothly and safely...and it does. As for Chutingstar's USPA Group Membership, I have been told by my regional director that it is no longer valid (although he doesn't agree with that decision). Ed Scott and Glenn Bangs have not returned my phone calls all week to verify this or explain my options. I applied and was approved a group membership in April as Chutingstar does run the student/coaching programs at ASC...I am also the S&TA and wanted easy access to rating checks for our visiting jumpers and staff. The possiblility of ASC losing its group membership was discussed with Glenn Bangs beforehand as one of many reasons for Chutingstar to become a group member. I wanted to keep an established link between USPA and ASC's jumpers. We religously follow the ISP, membership and licensing of our jumpers. I don't see how taking that away from Chutingstar helps USPA (in its issues with Ben/Cary) in any manner. I really hate posting here...so you may not hear from me for awhile. But I just wanted to reiterate why I do what I do since I've been slammed again...see you all in the gear and rigging forum. Mike ChutingStar.com -
It is designed for it and packs up nicely. We have several of these G3 M4 Sabre2 170 setups for student/rental gear that we use everyday. Mike ChutingStar.com

We do; Skydivegear.com. But, just look through a Skydiving or Parachutist...there are several others. Mike ChutingStar.com

He never bought a single case for the loft All of those were on his personal Vector tandem system packed by himself or his girlfriend. Anyway...he's a rigger himself now, jumping at another DZ and I'm sure packing his own, saving him a bit of money if he's still having the same rate of malfunctions. Mike ChutingStar.com

You guys should leave Shimell alone. Hes a nice guy. I got your back Shimell. And yes.... My profile is correct. ChutingStar.com
