Running shoes don't work well for face climbing, you can get away with them in cracks. Personally I find that some good stiff soled boots work better than tennis shoes for face climbing and large cracks. They edge much better that your typical shoe. (Though they don't work as well in 1-2 inch cracks as tennis shoes do) Of course there is nothing like a good tight climbing shoe. I'm definatly down for doing some climbing! I can bring my rack down to set up some TR's. We could allways find a 5.8 /5.9 that's next to a 5.10 / 5.11 and set them both up =o) I'll have a second rope again by then. (I just retired my lead rope) Woo hoo Climbing and Jumping, only thing better would be skiing , climbing, and jumping! See ya there! Allthough I love all of the options you posed, I would have to say that skiing is my secondary sport. Of the choices you mentioned I would go for climbing. Personally I've never even dreamed of having a climbing forum. I thought that is what climbing gyms are for: to hang out, chat, and wait till you can go out and get on the rock. I'm stunned. I just heard about him being hurt through the grape vine to now learn he has passed on. It's just soo sudden and way too soon for him to go. Paul, your going to be missed man. I'm bursting with excitement so I thought i would share with you all! My new Toy They finally hired me! I can't believe they are going to pay me to drive this monstrous machine 4000m deep in the ocean! Now I'm off to go make my 300th at Byron to kick off what may be the best weekend ever! Yeah baby! Besides Skydiving there is not much time left, what little there is is split between: Skiing Rockclimbing Fencing Snowboarding Mountain biking Stupid escapades Muchroom Hunting cliff diving Streetbikes Dirtbikes Scuba and kayaking are the Major ones I keep up with. Which ones do you have? I've been working as a chemist for them for a couple of years. Keep a look out next year for some new red wines (Merlot and Zin specifically) comming out of the Monterey and Arroyo Seco vinyards! We have some very small lots that will knock your socks off. As soon as they decide on what to call them I'll try and let you know. Some of my current Favorites are : 99 Bernardus Marinus (Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignot, Merlot, Cab Franc, and Petit erdot.) Their Bien Nacido Pinot Noir is really tasty as well. 00 McDowell Port is a fantastic young port out of Ukiah De Rose Zinfandel Kendall Jackson Great Estates Chardonnay, Arroyo Seco as well at the Sonoma Coast Version. And last but not least: Joseph-Phelps Eisrebe. It's a Late Harvest desert wine made from a sheurebe grape that is a cross between a slyvaner and a reisling. Some years the wine is mixed with muscat as well. Sweet, Fruity, with a pleasant citric flavor which makes it refreshing as well as cutting some of the sugar.
