  1. "Europe? Isn't that somewhere in the middle east?" A true question i was asked by someone who uses this site... James, while not showering, make sure you don't brush your teeth either. All us brits have bad teeth right? Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  2. I was wondering... Who can I talk to about becoming a CPI? (Campos Picture Instructor) I think I've done enough 'Campos-es' now and I'm definately ready to start teaching others. How much is the course and where is my local CPCI? Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  3. Listed by skill-level, in decending ascending order There, i fixed it for you Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  4. I believe you were offered two options: At your place of work OR a 'campos' IF you work at home, cool... Do the 'campos'! Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  5. When you write stuff like that it may tend to get some of the very skilled and active european instructors bowed up and get the domestic types that bad arrogant rap. Or is it an aerogant rap?
  6. Sorry Scott. Please either change the subject of this thread, or take some new photos. You have stated 'obligatory photos' in the subject, yet there is neither a picture of you in your place of work with bemused co-workers in the background, or any hint of anyone doing a 'Campos'. Please ammend post haste! p.s. nice suit! Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  7. Couldn't to try... And hey, i'm sure it would make you a hit with the ladies.. Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  8. Glad you lived, but I really don't think all of the above should appear in the same post Low turns kill m'kay. That's true, BUT 1) I don't know what you would do but when I see a powerline very close underneath me I don't think the quick decision of clearing that shit is a bad idea. In a situation like that there is no time to slowely move yourself to the right, it's a quick reaction or get zapped. As I said there were a lot of obstacles, the small garden was surounded by high trees. 2) An impact with a tree after toggeling a quick 90° turn can kill aswell. I'd rather absorb the shock on my side than flat in the face and on the chest. After the left turn just before impact I pulled my right toggle down to the same height as my left one trying to slow down just a bit so my body wouldn't have that downwards slam effect. It all comes down to the situation, how you handle it and LUCK Learn flat turns and practice PLF's - both could have helped in your situation, and for the future. Search some of Bilvons posts, he has some great advice for tight landings with things happening at the last moment. While I agree luck does play a small role in survival, you should never overlook skill. Often things you do under pressure happen sub-conciously from your skill base without you realising, and could be considered as 'luck'. Without the skill base, the luck runs out... 10. Firstly, hello and welcome
  11. I'd add one more: Its nice to know when to call off because of the weather/visibility conditions. Jumping with clear sky is rather easy. I've landed out once because there were 2 layers of clouds and I've found myself a bit futher and I could not fly back. I've decided to land with the plan when I got overcasted next time. I agree with your additions in regards to a new WS pilot who has been cleared by an instructor for self supervision. But on a FFC or repeated jumps before they are cleared it is the instructors responsibility to make these decisions and communicate with the pilot. I feel it is best to not overwhelm the student with these things on their first WS jump. Introduce those on the following jumps once they demonstrate the 3 basics I listed. I disagree. You're not talking about a first time skydiver here. The people taking an FFC, *should* be an experienced skydiver with at least 200 jumps. Yes, I understand they are already taking on a lot of new information, but why shouldn't they get into the habbit of things like telling the pilot they're on a load from jump one? If they forget, you're there to make sure the pilot still gets told. Job done.
  12. Agreed. In addition, 2-5 seconds up the line of flight may not be anywhere near enough if there are strong head winds. I know this paper is aimed at beginner pilots, but I find now, when working on smaller flocks with more experienced flyers, we will often fly just off the line of flight straight out of the door, then include one tighter turn of 160 deg or so, then fly back - A pattern not to disimilar to a narrow V - allowing us more stright line working time. Obviously in this instance, the turn is dependant on what the winds are doing up top. Also not covered, but I think should be shared - If you're making a wingsuit jump, make sure you let manifest know you are. Especially if you are at a DZ, like many of those in the UK, that will count canopies. If they don't know you're flying a wingsuit, and will likely open in a place they're not expecting, you could cause quite a bit of panick when they count one less canopy than they're expecting.

  14. I think even 200 is a generous guess... Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  15. Then don't be! You'll learn far more flying skills if you put someone who is more experienced than you as base. Every time you're base, other people will fly to you. Ideally, you want this to be the other way round. Find a nice stable base, who will fly a good pattern, and you can concentrate on flying your body to stay relative to that person / small group. 16. Is that a marginally wider leg stance or am I imagining things again? Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  17. When will people learn?! These photos MUST be taken in your place of work with confused co-workers in the back ground. Good use of a 'campos' though... Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  18. Dude! That makes your package look huge! Will that work for all users of the suit? In other news, it looks really baggy round your lower arms / wrists. Is that intentional, or just a bad photo angle?
  19. I personally think we should use more ponies to advertise suits. They have a really wide leg stance, but then I guess you'd need to cut a hole for the tail... hmmmm Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  20. Your photos are named the wrong way round, as others have mentioned
  21. Are you talking about Patrick De Gayardon?! Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  22. That is so hot... Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  23. It's a shame you have skydiving equipment on. That would have made a great 'campos'. Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
  24. It's like a new canopy. You should a beautiful woman and have sex with her while wearing the suit. Thats the theory anyway, finding a beautiful who wants to have sex with you in a wingsuit is your challenge... 25. Hi all, Last year some of the members of Top Gun were asked to help out with a peice for 'Daily Planet', to be shown on the Discovery Channel in Canada. We now have a copy of the footage and have put it up on our website. They mainly wanted details on the suits, how they worked etc, and some really basic flying to demonstrate it to wuffos. I think they've edited it together quite nicely and made a nice piece
