Ok all, i'm probably going to be in the states at Christmas looking to spend some hard earned on green backs on some Canon gear. I'm from and live in the UK and will be buying (hopefully) a Canon 5D Mk2 with the 24 - 105mm and a Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS USM lens (nice!) My question is, what's Canons warranty like on buying US items then going back to the UK? If anything were to go wrong, will i have to send things back to the US, or will it be a world wide warranty? Stupid question, but i know the charger will have a different plug on it, but i'm guess it's still standard AC so I just change the lead out for a UK one? Will the battery still be doing the same things as a UK one in terms of power? Anything else i need to be aware of? I would buy it all in the UK, but i'm going to save $8-900 at least, buying everything over there. What's everyone's thoughts? Also, how to mail in rebates work? We don't get those over here, but there seems to be some good deals on memory cards at BH. Actually, while i'm here. I've bought from BH before and they were great. Is there anywhere else I should check for prices that people would recommend? Ideally outside of FL so i won't need to pay the state tax Thank you all for anything you give me

They way you worded your first post suggests you may have bought one, or are considering jumping one. I commented that if you were thinking of jumping one, you shouldn't. You then replied "you recommend me stop jumping? here, at this forum?" Making me think you were going to. If you're not, no worries, simple misunderstanding.

I certainly don't think you should be jumping a Vampire, no. You've been told before about what you should do, but for some reason you don't want to listen. On this one though, seriously, please don't jump a Vampire. Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies

That's not really applicable here though. A $45 Protec will offer much better protection compared to a lot of the $200 skydiving 'hair holders'... As far as I'm concerned if you take a hard shot to the head from the ground or a tree or something of the sort it doesn't matter what type of helmet you're wearing you're pretty much screwed. If its just getting kicked in the head in freefall well then either type would probably protect you. I wear a helmet in skydiving for more than just the risk of taking a kick in free fall, and for that reason if i'm not jumping cameras, i'll wear the best protection i can. For me, that's a pro tec. For those thinking the $200 helmet will provide better protection, that's your call. Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies

I jump a full face Protec. I think it's the 'Ace Full face'? I bought it from a BMX shop for £30 = bargain as he was getting rid of stock. It fits really snug into my face and i've jumped it loads with my wingsuit with no issues at all. It's certainly as light as any skydiving helmet, and really no bigger in terms of size. Would be fine for wingsuit and RW, but maybe not so ideal for head up. Took it to the tunnel and it did 'pop up' a bit, but i think that was more my fault for not having the chin strap done up tight enough. I got a rigger friend of mine to sew a couple of little pockets on the inside for my audibles - handily, the helmet had little recesses in the foam padding about where the ears go, so lots of room, although it does fit a little tighter on my melon than without them. Like you Dave, i've had a couple of comments on it, but i don't care. I like the way it looks, and i feel slightly happier that it might offer me *some* protection should i bash my nogin on landing. Here's a free fall picture of it in use... Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
