Have You Ever Gone Low INTENTIONALLY?
jmpnkramer replied to murrays's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I take it to the basement so that I can get used to it and not be nervous to pull at 2000' or below. According to the pro-track I average about 1800'. I do not believe that thing though. I think it calculates at full canopy not pack opening. It has also read as low as 1200'. I usually add 500' to that figure to know what I opened at. I could be wrong. I would call it BAD JUJU!!! Although you could also look at the other aspect of it and say that it was just in the wrong place at the right time. I mean Sparky made a bad decision. You should always land where you know you can not where you think you can. The other individual was just unfortunate. A plan can go down at anytime. We skydivers rely a great deal on our pilots. Many people have no clue what it takes to keep it flying. They only get upset when it isn't. Anyway jut my personal thoughts.

I cannot speak from personal experience but from what I have seen it is not good when things break up. I have seen a couple of couples at my DZ and once they broke up one of them left the DZ. Oh they still come around just not as often. Usually jumpng at another dz. With that in mind I would say that dating a person who normally jumps at another dz would not be bad. This way if things do not work out there is no tension on the dz for ya'll. I say this but I have access to several different dropzones all within a stones throw of each other. Also I ahve never dated a skydiver because I am always too busy jumping and the opportunity never seemed to present itself. Whenever I went out with the gang it was as a group to have a blast on the town. We always hooked up with wuffos though. My two cents for what it's worth. Bonus days only in skydiving/Jumping? Let me see? 1.) In '96 My Main Collapsed at about 75' off the ground. I prepared my PLF the best I could when the canopy miraculously re-inflated. Manifest Girl said she had to look away. 2.) In '97 I was number one jumper on a mass attack at Fort Bragg. I had a good canopy when all of a sudden it just folded in half. I was not concerned I just grabbed the risers and spread them apart and in reinflated. When I looked down I was less than 50' off the ground. Would have hit w/o knowing. 3.) Quincy '99 the last day I was coming in on final when I got a weird vibe. I looked over my left shoulder and Some Guy hooked into me. 4.) September '99 I wrapped the drogue around my right foot. No option but pull the reserve. Well the reserve hit the drogue danced around it then inflated. The video is something to see. 5.) December '99 one toggle stuck in the fish-eye on my Jedi-120. I played around trying to clear it too long and ended up having to ride it in. I did the best PLF I could and came out with a broken hip. Factory diver split on the chin and dytter no longer functional. 3-surgeries, almost 20hrs on an operating table in 18months. 6.) October '02 Was on a 20-Way. Dive all busted up on exit. most of us got back together with one guy low. He stayed under the formation until break-off. He ended up dmping at 3500' which I thought was odd. I dumped at 2200' I looked over my shoulder only to have someone come through me. Everyone O.K. Low guy dumped in the one individual's face and he barrel rolled over on top of me. I think that about covers it. Keep in mind these are only my jumping incidents. I used my Nine lives a long time ago. If these count what kind of am I on? My Guardian Angels LOVE ME!!!! Do You Pay your Load Organizer?
jmpnkramer replied to flyhi's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You get a couple of chances and a side talk before being booted. Usually that is. A good organizer will not ditch you from the group in front of everyone. The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! That is amazing. I know guys in the ARMY that do not run that fast. I used to be able to average about a 6min mile. That was before I blew my hip apart. I have not really tried to run again yet. Trying not to wear the joint. I agree with LEWMONST on the wear; about three months is max. Especially for the distance you are running. I let mine go when I was on active duty and ended up tearing my IT band. It runs from your hip to your knee. Very painful!! I do not think you need to increase distance. You might want to try some wind sprint drills for speed but it sounds like you are already running fast. At most it would give you a change of pace for some days. Anyway, I hope that helps. Sounds like you are an awesome runner. Keep striving for new goals. Take Care. Blue Skies, KRAMER The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! "HESITATION CAUSES DEATH!!!" When not jumping...what do you do?
jmpnkramer replied to Ron's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey Chuck!! I remember when we used to ski all day one day and jump the next. I always tell people the way we used to live up there. Amoung some other interesting adventures we used to partake in. I really enjoyed my time at "CASA AZUL" It is definitely one of my more fond memories in life to date. I wish I would have stayed longer in hindsight. You are a hell of a bud. I was learning some new tricks. Anyway Dude I just had to post to this comment. Take Care. See ya on Tuesday. Blue Skies!! KRAAAAMER!!!!! The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! "HESITATION CAUSES DEATH!!!" In your defense you really are not that bad of a belly flier. I on the other hand could use a little help with some freeflying skills. Maybe someday. Laters, Kramer The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! Damn Droopy are you just now posting those pics? Better late than never. Nice shots though. I am in the What UP! pic coming in from Chuck's left. I wish I could make it up there for the little get together in April but I have some serious military obligations this month. Anyway I want to make sure the weather is definitely warmer. This Florida guy cannot handle the cold. When those pics were taken it was freezing. We survived though and Katie got her 100th so that is all that matters. I am travelling to Houston at the end of May and was wanting to see some of the jumpers that used to jump at Skydive America. Jeff P., Troy L., Kathy B., and a slew of others. I know some have travelled on and left the state but I was just wondering who was still in the area. Drop me a line and I will give the exact dates. Ya'll Take care. I can agree there. Speaking from first hand experience students are unpredictable. Besides having the most sick passengers I also had two pass out before landing. A third passed out after I unhooked her. I usually suggest a Tandem first because then they know what they are getiing into and are sure that they want to be a skydiver. Otherwise they have to go through a 6-8 hr AFF level one course and then if they cannot jump they just blew not only the money but 8 hrs of their day. The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! When I was stationed in Louisiana a few of us that jumped in Beaumont worked on the psycho pack. We got it to open consistently. For this reason I always pack myself. It is getting to be a problem though while jumping on big ways. The turn around is fast. At present I am making it but if I do more stuff like that I might have to have it packed. I would hate to do that though. It is nice to know how it is going to come off your back every time. When others pack it might be different every time. I also now have artificial parts and have to be careful. I do know that there are many people out there that do not know how to pack though. It should be taught and remembered. Long winded. What can I say. Take care All. The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! "HESITATION CAUSES DEATH!!!" "Be Slow to Fall into Friendship; but when Thou Art in, Continue Firm & Constant." - SOCRATES

Quote***Best advice is to keep your hands clean and not worry what others think of you*** I agree with Skygal3 here. If you worry about what others think of you it just brings undo stress into your life. If you do not have a problem with what happened then it is cool. Maybe the other female likes you and is Jealeous. Who knows. Like my Colonel says " Women have snakes in their heads. Don't try to understand them!! " Rest easy my man you did nada wrong. It should be a good time as always. There is also lots of good food to be had made by Janine. That is the Snack Bar Winch. Very good stuff though. Prices are not bad either. Be Sure to introduce yourselves. Look forward to seeing ya'll. Take Care and have a safe trip. Kramer The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! "HESITATION CAUSES DEATH!!!" I have a Flite Suit. It is a quality made suit in my opinion. The only other suit I have owned is a Tony suit. My first flite suit was awesome. I had several jumps on it and only received normal wear and tear which I utilized in ordering another suit from them. The second suit had some material issues but I Fed-Ex'd the suit to them and they repaired and returned it in under a week. They also put some extras on the suit for my trouble. That is the kind of service you should expect from every vendor. If they do not give it to you then they do not care about customers or their business. Flite Suit has earned my business and will continue to recieve it. If you are just looking for an extra suit though maybe you could find a decent used one. You never know. People are always changing or leaving the sport. Hope you find what you are looking for. Take care. Kramer The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! "HESITATION CAUSES DEATH!!!"
