  1. "thing had two holes in the top skin" Holes are patchable. It may not be in "Perfect" condition, but you are using the word airwothy a little to liberaly. You were verbally abusive to the guy, and hiding behind the excuse of "How can you be a dzo if you don't want to hear the word fuck?" is not mature. Don't lable me as a rude person be cause I skydive. I never understood how grownups can go to a DZ act like children, and say it is acceptable because they are skydivers. Grow up, learn some manners, learn to do business in a civilized manner, and maybe you won't have to come on here and whine.
  2. I bet some one could be fairly competitive in the zone accuracy event with that canopy. It's 1/3 of the comp!
  3. I don't know... It just seems like another badge or liscense to me. I'm sure it would be cool to have, but I'm not going out and trying to get a pro card because it will make me a better person. Could I go out and complete the pro qualifier tomorrow? Probably (even a blind squirrel finds a nut). Am I particularly motivated to do so? Not really. Just like chuck said, I can compete with the big boys if I really wanted to.
  4. Why are you so hell bent on getting your pro card? What is it going to do for you?
  5. Joe, Thanks to you and Mel again for the work on the lines. We are enjoying them. Grant
  6. I get to wear no weight. I'm 206.6 lbs naked. I think it's great that the playing field is coming to me. I never really liked wearing weight in the first place. Very rarely it pay's to be a fat kid. Suckas!
  7. There's nothing wrong with practicing it up high, but when landing there is a solid object that gets in your way if you fuck up. "Total canopy pilot" fine, but you don't get to be the total canopy pilot with low jump numbers.
  8. Ask yourself what are the reasons to land with rears: 1. Broken steering line. 2. Increasing swoop distance. Now at what point in peoples jumping careers do they need to be doing each of these?
  9. Oh come on... For you people out there who think that more experienced people are getting together at a secret location only known to those with more that 1,000 swoops, and voting weather or not to give you the information that you rightfully deserve... Get over yourself. If some one doesn't tell you something then they may not feel that you need to know that info at that time in your jumping life. I'm going to tell an AFF student how to land with rear risers and what will happen when they do, but I will not recomend that they do it unless they have a broken steering line. Now for the swooping aspect of it... I'm not going to tell a 100 jump wonder how to use rear risers to increase swoop distance. If you can tell me that you have the appropriate knowledge and skill to land canopies with rears to increase your swoop distance at those low jump numbers I'm going to tell you to show me. Then I'm going to tell you to keep working on your toggles. Am I holding you back? NO I'm helping you in the long run. 3/4 of the people landing on rears out there have no business doing it, and they are not getting any more distance than they would be with toggles. If you are a cool person, I'm going to think you are still cool if you still land with toggles. If you are landing with rears when you shouldn't be, then you are loosing cool points.
  10. Ahhh helll you just don't know... Rec. does not continue here.
  11. Hey Mel, I got 5 jumps on it on Sunday. The openings were much better than my old set. I will reline with you again once these wear out. There's a couple of other dudes out here who were very interested. I told them, when they are ready to come and see me, and for a price I would give them your number. Just kidding. Ryan and I really enjoyed the lines. His FX is a totally different canopy now. It looks much flatter, and his swoops were much farther. I couldn't really get a good look at the top skin for you, as we were both landing on different parts of the landing area. I will keep it in mind though. It was a little windy, but I was still getting some good distances. The biggest thing I noticed, was the last jump of the day. I did a superman, and was able to stay in the position much longer than before with the old lines. I also noticed that I was getting a better shut down out of the canopy, too. All in all I think the cost is a non factor, but from the limited number of jumps I have on it, I will continue to use these lines.
  12. Would a pilot chute fully inflated be user error?
  13. Chris, Are you using last years CPC rules in this comp? There is a bunch of speculation on how things are changing for this years CPC (wing loading for example), but nothing has been published, and I feel that recent events will delay this even further. I'm sure we all want to compete with the same rules, but I think that there were many different ways that the local CPC's were run last year. I'm sure the powers that be do not want that happening again. Grant
  14. I will be flying a canopy made of ZP and it will have lines from the canopy to my harness.
  15. If you do that you are asking for pilot chutes in tow. I have an rsk-1 and I put a velo 103 in it with a removable slider. Mine is a pull out, and I still get pilot chutes in tow from time to time. I have the 113 reserve in it, and I don't think you can get a 126 in there.
