  1. Sounds like you have a solid plan for success, esp the tunnel time. I would suggest doing a Level 4/5, doing 360 turns if you feel comfortable. Don't let them rush you onto the plane, either. See if you can do an EP and landing pattern review the evening before you jump, so you can get a good night's sleep on it. Don't worry about the butterflies in your stomach. Most of us went thru the exact same thing as students. Arch, smile, breathe, enjoy.
  2. highlight link and hit the box labeled "url" below to make a clicky.
  3. I see a few are trying to talk you into Deland. I've been to neither, but Sebastian is much closer to the water. Drdiver and Ladydiver are building a new house close to Sebastian. I think either DZ would be a great choice, but I'd go for Sebastian if you want the water.
  4. Totally sick flying. I loved where the dude flew UNDER the tree branches. I gotta do that.
  5. I once heard a woman say "A hard man is good to come by".
  6. Oh yeah, the kind you got when your parents got a new fridge. A fort, a castle, a pirate ship. My friends and I must have folded and flown a zillion paper airplanes when I was a kid. I loved things that flew long before I jumped out of them. Of course, our toys included kites, wind up balsa planes, and later, real model airplanes, rockets, etc. Ahh, the joys of childhood.
  7. Does any woman ever see any man as anything but a fixer-upper?
  8. I've got my copy of "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" handily standing by on the bookshelf behind me.
  9. The guy who taught me the FJC in 1974.
  10. The forces of evolution make everyone at least a little self serving. You have to take care of yourself before you can take care of someone else, right? Lucky, he sounds like one to avoid.
  11. Sometimes they don't definitely quit. They just slide into the pilot's seat, rigger's loft, etc. . ..
  12. Didn't even really hurt then. I've had sprained ankles hurt worse. Yep. 8 weeks and they cleared me to jump. Good thing 'cause we had tickets to Eloy in January. I'm only back to doing 8-9 chin ups in a row. I could do a dozen before and was training to be at 20 by now, but it took some time to heal. Plus I've been a little lazy.
  13. Nothing big, just standing on the pedals sprinting when the chain came off, left foot hit the pavement and down I went. Busted my collar bone and partially collapsed a lung, but nothing major. As my head hit the pavement I could hear/feel something breaking behind my left ear and almost instantly, to my relief, realized it was the helmet, not my skull.
  14. When I had my bike accident last November, I bounced my head off the asphalt pretty damn hard, breaking the helmet. I was awfully glad I had it on. I've heard people argue against seatbelts, saying they want to be "thrown clear" of the wreck. If that was a good strategy, nothing would be safer than a motorcycle, right?
  15. You want one? I want every babe on that Huey.
  16. And when they are checking out the bulge in your pants, they are looking in the back where your wallet is.
  17. All the best to all the wonderful women in the WWR. I was just talking to someone about Prague today. I think that's on our short list for vacations.
  18. Agree with doing a lot of 4 way. And that's a very nice tip hidden in the middle of your post. That's how you can "see things before they happen".
  19. snort We need a good audio track for that, so low speed "Ye-ooo-ooo-oooh!"
  20. Your englais is much meilleur than my French. Please feel free to post in any language you wish.
  21. Me too, on my Stiletto. Could we be idiot twins, separated at birth? First time, I landed using rear-riser/good-toggle and had to PLF. Next time, I reached above the knot and used steering-line/good-toggle and had a nice stand up landing.
  22. I've seen quite a few reserve handles floating and NEVER seen one spontaneously open the reserve. Next time your rig is up for a reserve repack, play around with that idea. See how much flinging the handle can "handle" without pulling the reserve. Good idea for an experiment. I kind of go with this. One particular 4 way jump we all knew Karen's handle was floating, but we just kept turning points and not pulling it. Worked for us.
