I agree with all you say about him. However, in one or two episodes he did carry firearms when a situation required it. But he always worked towards non-violent resolutions. I try to live like that.

Thanks for the reply and for keeping it safe. I've done high alt. jumps with and w/o O2. Definitely recommend using O2.

"Skydiving has more in common with loners and losers seeking an adrenaline rush, " - perris dude sounds like the sport is just right for him then.

He touched a lot of people with his gentle humor and great warmth. I loved his original Andy Griffith show. RIP, good sir.

Plus we could get a lot more jumpers on the plane if we sat boy-girl-boy-girl. I'd sit as close as I could.

Did you use oxygen on the plane?

OOohhhh, I bet you could install a garrott wire in your cell phone easy.

Some of the greatest advances in our technology have grown from from scientific discoveries that, at first, appeared to have no uses. Curious people such as LaVosier, Franklin, Curie and countless others poked, prodded and teased basic secrets from the natural world. It often takes many years, even many generations, to go from discovery to commercial application. Look at what we've done with that laboratory curiosity called electricity.

6 guys, one girl, kind of a sausage fest. I didn't see oxygen in use on the plane. I hope they had it. I don't do that high of tandems without it.

Funny, flipping thru the channels I saw that Rudy was on last night. I remember it as a good story for a "true" movie. I didn't bother watching it again. Just wouldn't be the same now. He needs a reality tv show, doesn't he?

Very good article, paints Dan and our sport in a very positive light. It's a very good book, BTW. Next time I see Dan BC I need to get him to sign my copy.

Incorrectly stowed brake -> minor malfunction & damage

Interesting. I'll keep that in mind. I get on my risers during opening when the skies are crowded, but I've kept my fat mitts away from anything critical. I'll watch those videos a lot more closely. You remember better than I do all those different brake systems over the years. There certainly were a lot of creative, sometimes complicated, ways of setting brakes, and somehow they all seemed to NOT work from time to time. The most fool proof thing I used to do was a daisy chain knot on plain steering line to set my brakes. No need for a finger trapped loop and you could vary your brake setting as you saw fit. Thanks for the insight as to what might be going on. -
Looks like you have to have 5 two-way jumps. At our, and many DZ's, that means coach or better. Now, whether or not the coach charges you for that jump is a different matter. I've paid my way on a number of novice jumps.

I like those two. Give Karen a hug for me, will ya?

I do like to see women feeling free to explore what interests them, with no thoughts of "ohh, that's not proper." Let's face it, we're here to enjoy our time on this rock.

Didn't do it for ya, huh? Yep, the reality is usually not as glamorous as the fantasy. Sorry about your shirt. Could've been worse than body oil though . .

Raining up here in Seattle. Enjoy your day. -
Pretty smooth, lots of practice, obviously. I wish I could tell how accurate her shots were.

Incorrectly stowed brake -> minor malfunction & damage

I totally endorse the "tug test". I've never had a premature brake release, or as some call it, toggle fire. That's just from poor packing. The riser under the reserve thing? I'm not sure I get what they're talking about. My Infinity double riser covers seem to keep everything safe and in line. Not sure what I could do to screw that up. Another great double check when packing: After putting your bag in the pack tray, grab the bridle and snatch the pilot chute towards yourself rapidly. It should inflate and look normal. It's a very quick, direct check to make sure your collapsing pilot chute has been properly cocked. Learn from the mistakes of others. It's cheaper that way.
