  1. LOL, someone on my side of the country.
  2. Spitfire. . . Oh wait, it was the car one. Never did the airplane thing. Packing tables had more room.
  3. A lot of nice art in this thread, but I just picked a favorite. That should be on a a B-17 nose somewhere.
  4. I'm a guy. I've been inappropriately attracted to every category mentioned. Since being happily married I've acted on none.
  5. Thanks, it sure is. And a relief to see how aware he is in the air. He's a lot better jumper than I was.
  6. Well, we did it. Brett went out and finished Levels 5,6, and 7 today. So yes, you can do AFF in 2 days. I guess being a tunnel instructor might have helped a little.
  7. And we thought the spoon would be safe to give to you . . ..
  8. Well okay, I skipped work yesterday and taught the FJC to my son and 4 of his friends. Here he is before his Level I. He made several jumps yesterday, stuck 'em all and might finish up 5,6 and 7today . . . after I get the lawn mowed.
  9. Ohhhh, it's still to soon for me. But dark humor is what can get you thru dark times.
  10. On rainy weekends when I can't jump, I just stick a dirty sock in my mouth, light a $100 dollar bill on fire and throw myself down the stairs a few times. It's just like I spent a day at the DZ.
  11. That IS a shame. I really liked/admired her very much. Funny that some say she was such a feminist. In that day and age that's what it took to break into some of the fields that women take for granted now. I used to see a lot of sexism in the FAA but rarely now. It was women like Sally that broke the trail for the rest. Sorry to see her amazing productive life cut short like that. Blue skies, Sally.
  12. This summer. He started off working the counter but they offered him the instructor job even though he may have to leave any day for his FAA job. He's a level 1 instructor, teaching noobs and basic bellyflying, not the more advanced stuff yeat. He's got a great sit, stand and back fly already. Best thing is he's super good with the customers. We're very proud of him.
  13. Nope, same nice kid only 6'3", 165 and solid muscle. Those ones you describe are who he laughs at.
  14. Cool. I wonder if Wally world could make an entire hipster scenster kit and make that trend die out.
  15. My son, who did a tandem with me in Canada at age 14, had no interest in jumping when he turned 16, But tomorrow he and 3 of his fellow tunnel instructors are coming out to do AFF. I'll be teaching the class. I'm pretty excited. BTW, he's 20 now.
  16. Our son Brett got a SS bike that he could turn the wheel around for FG, but I don't think he's ever done that. He mostly rides the 20 mile flat trail that runs by our house. As you, Krisanne, know, he's definitely not a hipster. He's a hard charging parkour athlete, very dedicated the staying in shape. He let me ride it one day to take one of my bike wheels to the shop in town. It was a sweet bike.
  17. So how's the airshow going?
  18. I've never done that. Is that your usual thing and what kind of plane?
  19. Vskydiver tells me I'm past that age where I should go shirtless in public, but when we go to the beach on vacation I see enough bad examples I feel pretty comfortable taking off the t-shirt for some sun. There's an old joke that it's better to be a man than a woman because a beer gut doesn't make you invisible to the opposite sex. I guess I just found out that's not true.
  20. Just 'cause you like different junk (pun intended), don't be dissin' on the holiest of holy places (pun not really intended)! The rest of us like it just fine.
  21. I always picture the exit shot with the plane in the immediate background.
  22. Hell yeah. Now go fetch me a beer, woman!
  23. I used to bag on him a little, but the more I see of him the more I realize he's a good guy out chasing the dream like the rest of us. I'm glad to see him back in the air.
