  1. I'll let you know after Saturday night. Did I mention we'll have dinner, beer and a band? It's gonna be a great time if you can make it.
  2. Skip the religion talk, let's get back to the MILF part. My gal, and many, many others I know, are proof that you can be a mom and still be smokin' hot. In fact, that just makes women hotter in my book.
  3. I've only had one parking lot hit-and-run with no note on the car. I guess I've been lucky. Plus my daughter put a crease in one of my doors backing her car out of the driveway. I gave a can of rubbing compound and she cleaned it up okay. My son pulled out about half the dent. Not too bad. What colors are these cars getting hit? I think silver is the worst color because it's so close to pavement color. My folks had a silver Buick that was always getting hit.
  4. Very smart move. I even advise people to consider selling their gear. Here's some of the reasons. 1- it may be a museum piece by the time you come back. 2- your AAD ain't getting any newer 3- it may be very inappropriate gear for you when you come back. I'm sure you'll tone down your approaches during your dormant years. Dave, as a guy who raised 4 kids in a skydiving marriage, don't be afraid of you and your wife having your own life together and doing some of the things YOU like to do. The best thing kids can have is happy parents that love each other very much. The family doesn't have to always revolve around the kids.
  5. Hey Squeaka, I'm always open to questions from you, mate. After getting a D license, 500 jumps, I feel you can go YEARS without jumping, come out, put on a rig and safely make a solo or small RW jump. I just had a friend, 666 jumps (cool number, eh?), who hadn't jumped in 7 years come out, rent some gear and make a solo yesterday. I would have made it a two way but I was busy with students. Quick review, no problems. I've seen similar jumps before with many old friends. As long as you keep your head in the sport and your EP's pumped into your pumpkin, I think you can make small, simple jumps safely after long periods of inactivity. The problem is how to keep rusty people off big ways, etc. There's not so much a problem with currency as there is with stupidity.
  6. Bears? Two of our daughters were camping in Utah with Grandma a few years back. A black bear came into camp about 5 AM and wrecked the tent they were sleeping in. They ran yelling to Grandma's camp trailer.
  7. Rain? Bingo! Our tent leaked camping in the rain at LP one year. Slid the air mattress into the back of the van. Problem solved.
  8. And they wonder why we sleep in the van with the doors locked. Well, and that other reason too.
  9. Skydivers using judgement to determine appropriate behavior? When's that gonna catch on? Twardo, you're absolutely on target with this one.
  10. Super cool. And for a great cause.
  11. Thanks, Cindy, and yes, it was fun. Sorry we had to jet early. . .
  12. My point exactly. My USPA card showed an experts license and a bunch of diamond wing stuff, so they knew I had X number of jumps or so. The log book doesn't PROVE I'm current, it's just a show of checking. It's just like taking your shoes off at the airport security line. And that, Squeak, is why the .
  13. Same here. I bought a party pack of those little paperback student logbooks from Paragear years ago. I'll put from one to half a dozen jumps on each line, like "tandem X 4" or "AFF X 3". Works pretty well. I hope to keep jumping until I run out of logbooks. . .
  14. That is a very powerful memorial, isn't it? No one should ever forget what we owe to those selfless, brave men and women. I need to get back to the mall. I haven't seen it since they did the WWII memorial.
  15. Yeah, the log book would be a distraction.
  16. I keep my logbook at home and log 'em in the evening. I don't go into much detail, just mostly the numbers. I was surprised at Perris once when my D license and reserve repack card weren't enough to get me on the plane. They wanted to check my log book to see if I was current. They ended up calling my home DZ and asking if I was good to go. At LP I passed my log book around for signatures but no one really seemed to know where to sign. Even though the empty column had "signature" at the top of it.
  17. Even I do this. My motive was to keep the tasks fresh in my head, but it does seem to fall into the visualization category. That's exactly one of the best reasons for visualization. I've seen videos of airshow aerobatic pilots doing visualization. Some pilots walk back and forth, pitching their head and moving their arms, like a solo dirt dive. The Blue Angels sit around a conference table doing a group visualization of the performance, with the flight leader giving the radio call outs. Some of the pilots hold a pencil like a control stick and "fly" the table thru the routine. So the best of the best use it. That's good enough for an old flyer like me.
  18. Damn, we really DID leave too soon. . .
  19. I think skydiving is completely mental. Seriously, visualization is a very powerful method of achieving peak performance, esp. in as high speed of a sport as ours. To Namowal, keep using it. Just remember that it's a tool, not a miracle worker. Keep the faith.
  20. But I married the one that looked like Lonnie.
  21. You both forgot King Crimson then. . .
  22. Gosh, he and I could be twins!
