Wasn't that the wondrous Deborah Kerr?
-
Good point. I knew it looked sketchy but I didn't come up with the "why?".
-
I remember seeing pics of a guy who built a sack-like harness for his infant daughter years ago. I think she was like maybe 1 y.o. He said she loved it.

Dontcha wanna drop 'em off by in the Walmart parking lot so they can grab a new cart to put all their stuff in it?
-
Damn, you're getting better popups than I am. Must be tracking your other internet activities.

I gave up on the DonorCycles a loooooong time ago... 3 bikes totaled.. I figured I was running out of cat lives. Damn, Amazon! I wouldn't ride 'em on the street, just the strip. I'd feel safer.

You guys are funny. To the OP's question, I've told my sweetie that if she ever made me quit jumping I'd be getting a motorcycle and start drag racing again. Pick the poison.
-
Very true on the financing commissions, but I've never been treated poorly for paying cash . . . so far.

But they are BAD ASS Harley sales clerks. Don't you know they're are BAD ASS? Just ask 'em. What a tard. In sales, a cash paying customer is King. Good job. You're a professor in the school of hard knocks. Most mechanics have long been payed flat rate for most jobs. It makes it very tempting to cut corners to max out your time sheet. I've seen it a few times. I don't shop Harleys much but I do run into the "Gun Store Rambos" from time to time. Those kind of nutball counter helpers send me right back out the door, empty handed.

Might make a pretty nice jump ship for some DZ. I'm glad Dave's not in the big house.

Well . . . you and I certainly have opposite reactions on this one.

General thoughts on kids being able to do a Tandem
JohnMitchell replied to promise5's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Are you okay with 16? I'm really not as a general rule, as stated above few that age can truly gauge the consequences and make any kind of realistic informed decision. I would postulate that since brain science seems to think the judgement area of males' brains doesn't fully develop until their mid-twenties (ask any car insurance actuarial) that maybe 18 is too young to make an intelligent decision. But I've never called the decision to skydive an intelligent one. Most American kids' first inkling of mortality seems to be the age you start driving. That's when you start losing people you know to car wrecks. I had one kid start at 16, She seemed to be fairly level headed about it all. My son didn't start until he was 20. Still fairly level headed. -

The younger the better they insta fly. Tunnel time till they are 18, then AFF like ninjas. Are you okay with 16? -
Like I say "Hit it hard, hit it fast." The other day we had a 12 way that had disintegrated to chaos by breakoff. A very petite woman jumper, Vskydiver's size, said she looked above herself, saw me overhead and thought "Uh-oh, traffic." She said then I hit my track and flew up and away, out of the picture. Nothing like a really good track to get yourself out of a hot spot.
-
Naw, that was cool. You're a good man.
-
Doing very nicely, thank you. If Vskydiver didn't have to mess with so many health issues, my life would be perfect.

Some banks employ greeters for the same reason. Eye contact and a "hello" at the door unnerves unprofessional bank robbers.

I need a real conversation. I lack perspective.
JohnMitchell replied to FallloutboyDAoC's topic in The Bonfire
Life is selfish. Survival means overcoming others. We kill other life so we can eat, can live. Evolution will never create a race of Mother Theresas. But we can learn to get along and work together for the common good. Big difference, though. And the "no jokes" thing. That ain't gonna happen around here. -
Damn, 3rd degree burns. That poor little girl. Heartbreaking. I hope she heals quickly and as completely as she can.

Should I have played hard-to-get? -

'Cause cheap jokes are fun. This is the internet. If you want deep, meaningful conversation, you need to go to a bar. -
Oh yeah, the Blues Brothers look. Maybe kinda badass in a reform school way. . .

Don't like snakes, do ya? That guy must have ice water in his veins. I'd have to have a full suit of armor with duct tape over the seams to do his job.

That's it in a nutshell. There are more and less efficient angles of attack for any airfoil, even one as inefficient as the tracking human body. Mmmm, I say that there is a "best" lift-to-drag ratio or glide ratio for each person. If you're on that glide path at your most efficient angle of attack, your airspeed (and forward speed and downward speed) will stabilize at what is right for your weight. I think in aircraft it's called Vy, or best rate of climb or glide speed. Go above or below that speed and your glide ratio drops; you become less efficient.

IFLY Chicago tunnel?!?!?!
JohnMitchell replied to kawisixer01's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The CFO for iFlySeattle is a good friend of mine. He said that the majority of their business is from non jumpers that live in a 15 mile radius. That's why they think the tunnel 40 miles North will steal little, if any, business from the South location. Wild, ain't it?
