    Relax. It's like riding a bike. Once you learn how to do it, it's easy. And if you DO spaz out, just open your parachute. Take a deep breath. You're worrying about everything WAAAAAY too early.

    That could be just a revision to the steering line lengths, nothing more. When I had my canopy relined, I had them let the steering lines out 6 inches.

    That's exactly what two of my kids did for their junior and senior years. In fact, my daughter working on her masters of engineering is actually listed as a high school dropout. But as weak as our educational system is, there is an education in there waiting for anyone who will do the work.

    Some hot days I find myself wishing I had taken up a sport that didn't require sticky nylon suits and 25 pounds of gear. . . Vskydiver made a lined winter jumpsuit that was so warm she'd wear only shorts and a t shirt under it, even in December, just because she could.

    Super good idea. Kind of like that BASE school that makes you write a letter to your loved ones about why BASE was so important it was worth dying for.

    I'll take that under advisement. And all summer I bring her roses that I grow just for her. She says not to buy her flowers anymore because it's a waste of $$. There are some real advantages to joint checking.

    I'm a meat-n-potatoes guy so I'll do anything from slow smoked ribs to steaks to prime rib. Vskydiver makes great pizzas from scratch but is better known for her great pies. This Thursday we have jumpers over and it's gonna be strawberry-rhubarb, with fresh rhubarb from our garden.

    Well, hanging onto to airplanes and jumping off, working in the garage with power tools, under the hood of cars, etc. I should wear it to dinner but I don't. They always think she's my daughter anyway.

    In his autobiography "Fate is the Hunter", pilot Earnest K. Gann wrote about flying a DC-3 in which a heavy cargo of steel piping slid aft on take off. As he struggled with the stalling airplane, one of the crewmembers went back and starting hucking the pipes forward, one at a time. They avoided a fiery crash by the narrowest of margins.

    /0/1 Crap weather again so no jumps but spent the weekend working on our new rental house. It's a half hour from the DZ, so we're planning to rent it for a year, then do a little remodel and move to there. Got a lot of stuff to do the next 12 months. I'm teaching the FJC next weekend so I'm sure it will be blue skies and sunshine while I'm trapped in the classroom.
