Being on injured reserve at that boogie, I had my new Kindle all loaded up and ready. Went quite a few books down by the pool in between pool volleyball games and beer runs.

I can't believe I adopted earlier than you. I, too, love a good book in my hands, but for long trips and convenience, the e-reader is hard to beat. The huge selection of books at my fingertips is great for my ADD.

Why Thank You! As the father of four, I'm going to bask in the adoration before I head to the DZ. May all you other dads have a nice day of jumping too.
-
Damn, I'd want an apology too.
-
How y'all making out? I hear 360 homes burned to the ground. Damn, I hope they get a handle on that fire soon. Hope all of you are safe tonight.
-
F&%$! Man, I'm glad you lived.

Sounds like you know a thing or two. My favorite pilot is the one that will maintain Vmc no matter what and crash-land straight ahead if necessary. No, I'm not kidding.

Not as a car cover in a Florida carport?

In my job I get 10% night differential pay when I have to work past 6 pm. The people who leave the control room for a desk job lose that pay, so they get an additional 4% bonus to cover not "getting" to work at night. What's the point? The best was under the Bush (W) administration when the FAA tore up our legal contract and forced a new one down our throats. The FAA suddenly had no $$ for annual cost-of-living raises for any controllers actually doing their job. However, all managers and desk jockey wanna-be's continued to get COLA's. The ultimate F-you!

Depending on number of jumps, that might be a very good price. I figure modern canopies are good for about 2000 jumps and will need a new lineset twice, around 7-800 jumps.

They must not be serious about selling it.
-
Bingo! BTW, I've seen that routine in person too. Isn't it amazing? But it's not magic, just pure physics of flight, expertly applied.
-
Yep. I sold a canopy with only a few jumps on it. Vskydiver just didn't like it. Took a couple of hundred $ hit on it. Oh well.

Thanks for sharing that. Glad you're okay. Damn, I hate it when they take you for a ride.

Always remember their birthday, but never their age.

Stickers in the inside of airplanes?
JohnMitchell replied to CC_Shenanigans's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Used to be planes were cheap and almost disposable. Now they cost up to a million+. I can see someone not wanting stickers all over their expensive investment. Our DZ has some stickers on their very nice turbine planes, all of them PG. I have a feeling any offensive or morbid ones get peeled off quickly. . . And I'm fine with that. The sport has changed and so have I. Most of it has been for the better. -
Hope you're having a great birthday. Wish you and Normiss had spent it jumping with Valinda and me.
-
That was my first thought too. Nice job, Twardo. I wish I did more demos. They're a lot of fun done right.
-
Tell that beautiful gal "Happy Birthday" for me, would ya?

Let us know if you ever do one in Seattle.

Truth is that those clubs LOVE selling memberships to people who never show. It's like selling a 1000 seats on a B737 and only a dozen actually show up for the flight. And for those who show up? Plenty of legroom.

Sounds like that woman needed a lot more than just a workout.

Most of my excercises are outgrowths of my post surgical rehab for both shoulders. That and some stretches, sit ups, pull ups and push ups, nothing huge. I'm pretty amateur at it all but ask for advice from some of the gym rats. I mostly stay away from most of the fancy equipment or at least read the instructions. The other day I was doing rope pull downs on the Nautilus, from full flight to flare. I call it my Tandem Master toggle excercise, what I always finish with. Someone said "Hey, you're doing your whole core, not isolating the muscle." I told him that was my goal.
