  1. Fly to Seattle. We're doing AFF right now.
  2. Dont listeb to the Gay dude, he wants to see the Dirty old mans butt. Exactly. So post your butt and your TM's and let everyone be happy.
  3. My son is an air traffic controller in Salt Lake City. His airspace abuts Denver Center's airspace so he interfaces with them a lot. Denver Center's facility is actually located in Longmont. My son said the day of the flood the Denver controllers only had 4 of the usually 11-14 people working. All the rest were cut off by flooding.
  4. The devil is in the details, eh? Sounds like my years in ATC. BTW, I've got a trick or two at untangling. Wish I could have been there to help.
  5. Funny the service writer didn't tell me that when I called years ago. Thanks for the info and I'll watch that in the future.
  6. You're not a dork for tipping.
  7. Glad you're okay. Now you really, really current on your EP's, aren't you? I've started pack jobs without the brakes set too, but realized because, yes, the canopy felt "funny" as I was flaking it.
  8. Hate to tell you this, but you're wrong on this one. I've seen it happen. . . right under me. Never underestimate the backsliding abilities of a noob learning to sit fly. That's why I brief them to practice their sit flying facing perpendicular to jump run, same as practicing tracking. Considering your posted jump numbers and the picture of you sit flying, have you considered that?
  9. I remember taking a very sharp, pretty college coed on a tandem who tipped me $20 after the jump. She had done a great job and really enjoyed the jump, and I wanted to just give her the money back and tell her to save up for AFF because I knew she'd love the sport. I knew all you guys would love having her in the sport. I felt almost guilty, with my govt. job during the week, taking money from a young woman going to college. But I kept it.
  10. Could there be such a woman on this earth?
  11. You got some good karma goin' there. . .
  12. I do tandems and AFF and get tips from both. Here in WA maybe 1 in 5-6 of my students tip, even though we have the "Tips are not required, but appreciated . . . " sign at manifest. Friends that work on the North Shore at Oahu, HI say that tipping is the norm; almost everyone does. I think it's just the local culture that makes the difference. I work at making every student/passenger feel at home and try to maximize their experience. I feel that's part of my job. I agree that the D. bags should not get tips, but I'm sure they do. I recently read an article on tipping that said the actual service doesn't matter as much as the mindset of the customer. Tippers almost always tip. Tightwads almost always don't. Heck, I even tip the kid at the car dealership that puts on my new license plate.
  13. You're right about the shoes. Looks like she swiped 'em off a Dutch farmer, big clunky things. A lot of beautiful women wearing ink these days. I never thought any part of a woman's skin needed improvement, but that's their choice. I told my kids to just never to get a tattoo where the judge will see it. Beauty pageant? No way. That would be shallow and sexist. It's a scholarship competition.
  14. A Kitten of skydivers (because it's like herding them). I like Moron also.
  15. I think being a weekend jumper has kept me from burning out. And there's a variety of things I like to do, from working with students, doing tandems, wingsuiting and just bellyflying with friends. Some days I'm satiated before sundown, but rarely before 5 o'clock. And some days in the sky are just so amazing you feel bad for all the people that never experience what we do.
  16. And those smoke jumpers are probably in awe of anyone who jumps out of a plane with 200 pounds of stupid strapped to their front. No kidding. Those gear bundles don't try to kill you.
  17. If the uber rich can spend $3.4 million on a Corvette, I think it's time to repeal some tax cuts. . . On a serious note, I could have a LOT more fun for that price than buying one single car.
  18. I enjoy their IPA on tap at many places up in Seattle. Like you say, not innovative, but well done. Gilgamesh Brewery in Salem, OR is trying some cool brews, such as a hopless pilsner that substitutes citrus and a chai tea stout. Actually those were a bit too far out for my palate, but I enjoyed many of their beers while sampling there the other day. They are a pretty new brewery but I see a bright future for them.
  19. I had a Coors Banquet Monday after jumping in the hot sun. Tasted great!
