Like most DZ's, we have a beer fridge. Have a beer or two at the end of the day. But grab 3-4 to take home, or load up your cooler? Not cool, but some do it.

I read recently that certain bowel syndromes are treated with donor "bacteria" to establish a healthy gut. All these years I've been donating only blood when I could have given a $hit.

And TM's are doing a SLIDE on their butts, not a LANDING. The difference is in the rate of descent and the impact. A good tandem slide has very little impact.

I find the 3 year rule interesting too. Of course, the hope is that someone would absorb a large background knowledge of our sport during those 36 months while also making 500 jumps (on a ram-air main, btw.) Some may benefit from the extra time; some may not. Some can spend a decade or more at the DZ and still not have the mind set to do tandems well. I'm reminded of what Hugh Hefner wrote, supposedly in a school essay at the age of 14: "What constitutes knowing someone? How much time you've spent with them or what you did during that time?" Food for thought.

Those helos sure look dangerous, like flying a table saw blade around for fun. And some of those jet RC planes weigh, what, 20+ pounds and go hundreds of miles an hour. That would sure put a dent in ya.

Ah, that's the term. I couldn't remember it, I just do it.

Some studies show that sprint type exercise leads to faster weight loss and quicker cardio gains than constant speed aerobics. So go do wind sprints or ride your bike as fast as you can 'til you're exhausted.

The Death of a Boogie
JohnMitchell replied to skydived19006's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's a lot of time and $$ to travel to the boogies. I've got twin turbines, $$$ on the books and lots of great jumpers right at home. But we still do LP each year to catch up with old friends. In return for a modest reg. fee Wayne puts out free beer, t shirts and a nice dinner each year, plus well maintained camping facilities. I guess I'll keep doing at least that one for a while. Chicks Rock is a lot of fun too, but V can't jump for a while, so it takes a lot of the fun out of it for me. -
He forgot to mention. . . In his underwear. Nope, just a tool belt, nothing else. @ Ryoder, I've got a rental house with renters moving out, a house in Olympia we want to move in after remodeling and a house in Orting we want to move from and sell. Make sense?

War has always been and always will be harsh and brutal. Yet there have always been amazing acts of kindness and grace in any theater of battle. I feel our current service men and women of the highest caliber of warriors to ever be fielded. Almost all of them adhere to the highest standard of honor.

Only if your reserve is skyhook equipped would that be a real problem. We've tested it and an RSL opened reserve on the ground, even in high winds, does not have the pilot chute drag to deploy the bagged reserve. However, it's nice to undo your RSL first, just to save the $60 and hassle.

Now that's some good visualization. I hope it goes just like that for you. I've had all the dreams, from peaceful to scary. Not too many any more, though. Mostly I dream about fixing up houses for sale.

But he does have a lovely wife. Yep, I've heard nice things about Amy. They should have interviewed her instead.

Most people who seek out the premium beers have the sense to go find a pillow when they've had too many, not a chainsaw and a tiki torch.

For someone who's never met BV in person, that article was a real treat. And he doesn't have horns . . ..

People change, people grow up. I'm not the person I was when I was 12, and certainly not the guy I was when I was 20. Just be true to yourself and don't let others tell you what to like.

We can work on it together in Feb
-
So do I. We can do shitty head down jumps together next time we're at the same DZ! You got it. We might even see each other in freefall after we let go. . .
-
I suck at head down still. . .

I've seen a separated husband and wife on opposite sides of an AFF-I. They did fine together. It doesn't have to be drama.

Bill Booth - forced landing ;-) 08-27-2013
JohnMitchell replied to holie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
And I posted in the Bonfire a congratulations to Bill for doing an outstanding job of hurting no one on the ground and walking away from the crash. Super nice job of keeping cooler than Fonzi. -
Nice job, Bill! $hit happens, engines go belly up but you did an awesome job of bringing it down, not hurting anyone else and walking away in one piece. I've been a passenger in a forced landing before and I love a pilot that keeps his head straight and flies the plane to a complete stop.

Actually they all have SO's. Mia's even married to a handsome former Marine. But we still don't have grandkids. . .

I think the two things can operate independently of each other, but the personality that does that tends to do both.
