    Tough crowd tonite, eh N@? I totally get your rant. Few things are as important to people as their names. John Mitchell is rarely screwed up, but Valinda has had her named mangled a million times. Like you, she's pretty forgiving of it. I love the hypocrisy of your coworker. Things like that make me really enjoy retirement.

    Definitely brine it. We brine, then smoke. I'll send you the recipe tomorrow (or later this morning.) Choose your wood carefully for any poultry. I use a mix of cherry and apple wood. Hickory makes your whole turkey taste like cheap turkey-ham.

    I had my first chop at ~ 95 jumps. I laughed under my reserve at how easy it was compared to how worried I had been about it. Yeah, I agree with you. It feels good.

    I had a premature opening with the pilot chute caught in the steering lines at 12,000 feet once. The canopy would spin a bit, then I'd get it stopped with toggles. I was half a mile from the Pacific Ocean, over the jungle, and I didn't want to chop from over 2 miles up, so I rode it a while. Best thing was, it cleared itself by 9500 feet and I landed it.

    Hell, I'd do it. Heck, I did a dozen chin ups at the state fair just for a Marine Corps ball cap.

    88 years old and a blinding brain tumor. Hell, I might make one last jump myself. But I'd do it out in the desert, fer cryin' out loud. There's lots of ways to make the final exit without traumatizing a lot of folks. Big cliffs in the wilderness always work well.

    That was great. We did the manta snorkel but only saw a couple of them. I'd love to go back on a night like you had, where dozens are swarming.

    I, and I'm sure you too, get snagged a lot walking thru the packing area by student packers. "Hey, can you come look at this?" I usually have at least a minute or two I can spare.
