  1. I've always said "decision to stop a threat" Couldn't agree with you more. Live a violent life, die a violent death.
  2. Nice prize list. I bought a ticket for me and for Valinda. Thanks.
  3. That is so cool. Our sport is great for deaf people, I think, since it's so non-auditory. I had a deaf AFF student last summer who had her fiancee sign for her. Very lovely, wonderful woman, now A licensed, married and skydiving.
  4. Agree. I first got my AFF rating in 1983. I hadn't even heard of tandem jumping yet. It was the toughest rating I've ever gotten. Unfortunately, I later moved to a S/L only DZ and my rating eventually lapsed. Got my tandem rating in 1992. Hardly broke a sweat doing it. Just arch and remember which order you pull the handles. Finally took the entire AFF-I rating course again about 5-6 years ago. Once again, another week of hard work and doubt. I never want to take that stupid class again.
  5. I wouldn't mind one of those myself. We're so happy for you and your family.
  6. I sure have done first aid on a lot of those people.
  7. Saturday was rainy, just stayed in bed most of the day. Sunday got in 2 great belly jumps and a tandem with Omar, who tipped really well. Sooooo .. .. :3:0
  8. And you know what, girl? I ain't never gonna know.
  9. At first I thought this would be about being a tandem master. Sorry, all joking aside, those sherpas are amazing men working in the most dangerous sport in the world. Yet they might call us crazy in ours. My heart is out to the loved ones left behind. BSBD.
  10. I'm sayin' you're on Bonus Days. And I'm glad you are. I've got a few friends on those, but I've never come that close.
  11. That was a nice take down. . . And after that . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR465HoCWFQ
  12. Good time for a concealed carry pistol. I wonder how a well .40 S&W from a Sig 229 would take down a lion.
  13. Kinda what I'm thinking too. Might be good for running out to the DZ or grocery store.
  14. Only one seat? Even a motor scooter can take 2 people. I could use this for only some of my trips to the DZ.
  15. Super good idea. And maybe make a run over the hill to Elsinore, make a few jumps with Hammo and the gang.
  16. Very true. What type of jumping do you want to do, belly or freefly? Weekends are good for both at either DZ but I feel Perris has more belly flyers on weekdays. Excellent jumpers and jumping at either. I love 'em both.
  17. No, I haven't. But good to hear from you, Peter.
  18. Thanks for the new toy. Is there a reset button? I have to admit I tired a bit watching the canopies float down. I was anxious to try a different combination.
  19. It's been debated for years but proven a long time ago. A flying object, such as your parachute, does not "know" which way the wind is blowing. Upwind, downwind, crosswind are all in reference to the ground below, not what the air is doing over your wing. Your rate of descent does not change. The air continues to flow straight over your canopy, from nose to tail. And the DZ continues to get farther away if you're pointing the wrong direction. Gusty, turbulent conditions will cause changes in rate of descent. Downdrafts and updrafts will, of course, push you in those directions vertically. Changes in headwind will have your canopy diving or floating as it seeks its flying speed. Close to the ground this can be very problematic. A little downdraft increases your rate of descent, a little tail wind from rotors coming off of obstacles makes your canopy dive, all when you want to flare to slow your rate of descent. Tough situation.
  20. If he wears it on his head it blows off. . .
