Cookie G2 discontinued and replaced with the G3
PhreeZone replied to davevans's topic in Gear and Rigging
We have an order of these come in out at the DZ and everyone seems to like them but said they are running just a tad smaller than the G2. I know a few people were grabbing the next size up G3 over what they would have gotten a G2 in. I would advise trying one on for fit to make sure its correct. MLW of 21 How large/small of a harness can I get away with?
PhreeZone replied to acaamano's topic in Gear and Rigging
Dave, I am 6'2" and have a C-20 harness. I have long legs but if someone had a slightly longer torso... a 21 is very possible. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com -
People tend to push the Skyhook and it is a great option but don't choose a rig just on this one item. If you like everything else on a Wings and the fit is good and you are happy with the company.. order away! Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Yep, the Unemployed discrimination is getting so bad they even have proposed legislation to combat it: Fair Employment Opportunity Act of 2011. Issue is no one is going to be caught on it since they can always say they passed you over for another reason other than your large gap of lack of employment. If I remember you've got a huge gap in the resume from a summer off walking the east coast right? That is a red flag nowdays for some stupid reason. Any major gaps in employment now are getting resumes tossed directly into the waste can for no good reason. Some companies are now requiring you to be currently employed before they will look at you for a position. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Matt, I sure am going to miss ya at the DZ. I will still be calling you all the time and hope things remain well with the family! It was truly a privilege to earn my ratings with you over the last few years! Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Full details have not been published but it appears there may have been some sort of low cutaway that did not allow for the reserve to inflate.

Jumping with friends doing tandems
PhreeZone replied to FL_new_jumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Per the USPA and the Tandem manufacturers you need either 350 jumps and a coach rating or 500 jumps to tag along with a tandem. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com -
The poster has no clue what he is talking about. The meters are designed to be in a mesh design with a range of around 1/8-1/4 mile over airwaves and are a two way communication. This is allowing for a smarter consumer for power usage and for a better generation ability so that there is less wasted power being dumped into the grid when there is not a need for it. This allows for utilities to be broken out into different pricing points in a micro transaction basis. This allows the utilities to bill you one rate during peak demand hours and another rate for times when there is a tone of excess power on the gird and power is cheap. Further the appliance in the home will allow you as the consumer to know what your consumption is at any moment so that you can schedule things like AC units, furnaces, etc to run more during cheaper time than during peak times. This saves you money as well as allowing the utilities to shape the load on the grid for their current generation abilities. You also have the ability to do things like micro generation and actually make money on things like solar since you can pump power back in during the higher rate period. http://www.google.com/powermeter/about/ Google did a really nice demo of their vision of a SmartMeter box that I got to play with at a trade show and they were able to shape power usage with the people using the box since they knew what they were consuming and how they could adjust their power usage to spend less money. This is the free market at work. Educate users and get them to change their actions if they want to, if they don't change them then they know they will be be paying higher prices. Add in all the additional benefits like being reduce or even eliminate the meter readers and the utilities are now saving money too that can be passed back to the consumer to have even lower rates. This is the concepts behind the SmartGrid. Analog devices inside a home have no ability to connect back into the meter besides showing raw power being pulled. The data coming off of one of these devices is really generic and is a far cry from what the kook in that video is trying to say. Abnormal power usage (aka grow rooms) are still detected today by the old analog grid (and via helicopters with FLIR) and would be detected under the smart grid too, but the rest of the things like being able to track a lamp... not even close. Ron Paul is not going to stop this, he has in the past voted for issues that push the smart grid since it really is about the only way with out major overhauls of the entire power grid to allow for a higher level of reliability as we move into times of increasing demand with few new baseline plants coming on in the next few years. Things like Tres Amegos will help but that is still only a partial fix by tying all the major grids into each other to do more of a national grid interconnect but that is years out and does not improve the demand side and only moves the supply part a bit. Student was flying canopy fine after opening. At a lower altitude they entered into a turn and held the turn into impact with the ground.

I know there is one at SDAZ since it was the only one around here in Ohio and the jumper moved out to SDAZ last year. I have seen a total of 2-3 in the last 10 years and have not had to rig on one yet. They are a rarity anymore. One of the ones I saw had a fire at 8k since the jumper had accidentally turned it off and then turned it back on while climbing since they did not know better and then in freefall it fired. I've been doing this for my gas and my bill is around $39 per month year round. I know in the summer I barely touch the gas except for hot water so those months I am just putting money away for winter. There is a catch up period with my program where they can see if you are way off the average and they will readjust your monthly bill to the new level. Also forget about solar here in Ohio. I've done the math multiple times and we are just too far north and have too many cloudy days to even come close to paying off the panels let alone seeing a return on them in anything less than a 20 year span. Just electric. Also the volume of air that you are talking about in recirculated designs has intakes that measure 100 sq feet or larger on each side of the building through a series of louvers and grids to control the temperature of the airflow in the flight chamber. The wind speeds in the flight chamber are 120-170 mph. I'd suggest looking at how a modern tunnel is really built since it would be far easier just to build you a "kiting room"as a stand alone facility then it would be to tack anything on to a skydiving tunnel in their current designs. Anyone have any interactions with Ally? I am considering moving some accounts to them but was hoping to hear from people that have banked with them in the past before I move money to them. Anyone have any good or bad stories about Ally? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

While making a tracking jump with other eight people, the skydiver was going to deploy his parachute but impacted at full speed against another skydiver whose canopy was already open. The skydiver then continued to freefall until his AAD fired. He landed

Avaicom stops production of Argus for sport market
PhreeZone replied to PhreeZone's topic in Gear and Rigging
According to Karel Goorts, Managing Director for Aviacom SA, production of the Argus automatic activation device (AAD) for the sport parachuting market has been discontinued. The current group of service centers will continue to provide service for units currently in use. A limited number of cutters and spare parts will be available. Many container manufacturers rescinded the approval of the Argus to be installed in their containers earlier this year, following questions about the effectiveness of the cutter. Argus owners should check with their container manufacturer to determine whether the Argus may be installed. http://www.uspa.org/NewsEvents/News/tabid/59/Default.aspx Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com -
No, you can burn the files in a AVCHD format to a DVD and the content will only play on a BluRay player. The files will not play on a normal DVD player. This will let you put a tandem video on a DVD in HD format. The main draw back is you need a computer or a BluRay player to use it. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Skydiver disconnected chest strap, loosened leg straps, and removed himself from his harness while in freefall. The jumper had left a suicide note.

Here did you get that price from? I would offer far less than that price since the Cypres is only worth $375 at most. The main is worth maybe $500-600 on the open market and the reserve is worth about the same or less. I would give 8-900 for the container. My math is $2100-2300 since it was basically a off brand bargain rig when it was put together and the prices on those items have fallen fast since then. Mint.com is owned by Intuit the makers of Quicken financial software. Their goal is to get people more interested in the control of their money and want tools that Quicken offers so they want to get you started on Mint and then sell you Quicken. I love Mint and use it everyday on my phone and my PC. Via using the data from there I discovered a lot more control over my finances since I could see everything at one glance instead of needing to log into 8 websites to know the status of every loan, 401k, savings, etc. Its helped me to actually pay down a lot of debt just since I could see what my total loan balances were instead of just seeing a monthly payment leaving the checking account every month. Student pulled his reserve handle at an extremely low altitude which was insufficient to allow for the canopy to inflate prior to landing. During investigation it was discovered that the AAD fired but it was missing the knife blade to cut the loo

After a RW jump the jumper deployed his main. The main was observed turning from opening until very low near the ground. The jumper pulled his reserve at a very low altitude but the reserve was unable to open in time to stop the main from turning into the
