    Broken lines

During a swoop the jumper experienced the breaking of several Vectran 300 pound lines on their canopy. This collapsed the canopy and they impacted under only a partially inflated canopy.
  3. Per the newest TNT packing manual they flat out instruct you to Propack the new reserve. http://www.strongparachutes.com/library/Documentation/Tandem/TNT%20Manual.pdf Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

  5. Slight difference between the USPA and BPA in terms of the resources needed for management of something like this. At the end of 2014 the BPA had 6,269 full members and the USPA was around 37000. The USPA dues on an annual basis are around $60 and the BPA dues are around $155 a year. Are you willing to have dues that high or higher to have the same options as the BPA? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  6. I attended my first Collegiate Nationals in 2002 and even then it was just the Military teams and then everyone else far back in the standings as it had been for years before I attended. The only major exception was the years of Georgia Tech. This was back when Freefly was still new and they had the idea just to let two people that had never met before go out and try to freefly together with 50 jumps each. I think its pretty much a given that the college teams that get sponsored either directly via their institution or via a wealthy supporter are going to do a lot better than the kids that are still renting gear since they do not have enough money to buy even a basic rig and are hitting their 100th jump at the event. I know that I only bothered to attend a single year despite traveling every winter break in college to jump since I was looking at either putting my limited funds into trying to find a throw together team at the DZ that at best was going to finish 4th or I could spend my money on going to another boogie and the other events started winning out every year. With travel costs to get to FL and to AZ both fairly high on a college budget I know its hard to justify spending hundreds on plane tickets or days driving to get to some of these events. Last group I had talked to that went a few years ago basically went out to AZ it but decided to just attend the DZ's regular boogie instead since they had no chance of competing against others that had dozens of hours of tunnel time together and had been getting coaching from jump 1. They had a great time at the DZ but they would have had the same thing even if the College event was not occurring then. One thing I had brought up a while ago was to have the event in the middle or the end of the summer instead of on winter break. For a lot of students up north they were heading to the events fairly uncurrent since some had barely jumped since school had started and DZ's shut down for the winter. It avoids the whole having to blow the family off the moment Christmas is over since the event typically starts on the 28th and for people driving from the midwest/northeast to FL or AZ that was meaning they needed to leave on the 26th at the latest to get there in time. Putting it in the Summer also opens up DZ selection to DZ's other than FL/AZ. It would let the event move around and make it more accessible to students whose schools do not provide a transportation budget. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  7. Hard landing after low turn in canopy piloting competition. Jumper had a fully functional canopy, just turned too low and struck the water and suffered fatal injuries.
  8. If the flag will only be used for jumping, a better design is to have the weight sewn into the leading edge instead of having a drop weight. This allows for the flag to fly straighter and lets you use less weight. This keeps you from having the potential of dropping a weight also. 9. http://www.bizjournals.com/sacramento/news/2015/04/02/is-indoor-skydiving-coming-to-roseville.html It appears a skydiving business is in the works in Roseville. The catch? It won't use actual sky. The city of Roseville's planning department is reviewing entitlements for a proposed indoor skydiving facility at 118 Harding Blvd., according to an April newsletter from the city's economic development department. The 4,097-square-foot business would come from iFly, a Texas-based company that has 35 locations covering the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. Representatives from iFly were not immediately available for comment. Roseville would be the company's third California location, joining sites in Union City and the Hollywood area. At iFly, customers "float" on air created by a vertical wind tunnel. The experience includes training from an instructor and doesn't require a parachute or jumping. "Flights" within the wind tunnel last 60 seconds, according to the company's website. Prices start at $59.95, the website says. Intrigued? Watch the video below for a better idea of what the experience involves. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  10. http://www.lenconnect.com/article/20150331/NEWS/150339847 Parachutes will apparently not be opening in the sky over Tecumseh on Wednesday, April 1. The planned start of Skydive Tecumseh’s parachuting season is being delayed at least two weeks for a court hearing in a dispute between it and the owners of Al Meyers Airport. Owners of the parachute training business filed a lawsuit Feb. 28 after receiving notice from the airport in January that Skydive Tecumseh can no longer operate from the airport. Attorney David Stimpson of Tecumseh also requested a temporary court order to allow Skydive Tecumseh to use the airport while the case is in court. A hearing on the temporary order was delayed a week until Monday, then adjourned two weeks after an airport official showed up in court without an attorney. Andrew Aalto, president of Al Meyers Airport Corp., told the court he did not know he is ineligible to act as counsel for the corporation. Lenawee County Circuit Judge Anna Marie Anzalone declined to immediately issue a restraining order. “Time is of the essence in this particular matter,” Stimpson said. “Any adjournment would be to my client’s disadvantage.” A two-week delay could cost his client thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, he said. In his written motion, Stimpson said the airport in Tecumseh is critical to his client’s business. “Without the use of the airport, Skydive Tecumseh is effectively out of business,” he wrote. “There are no other locations from which plaintiff can operate its business, and plaintiff has invested a significant amount of time and money into building its customer base in Tecumseh.” If Skydive Tecumseh cannot operate from the airport in Tecumseh, he stated, it will suffer losses in its efforts to continue building its business as well as immediate monetary losses. The entire community will suffer from the loss of business, Stimpson argued in the motion. “Plaintiff’s business is an integral part of the community and contributes significantly to bringing in tourists to support local business,” he argued. Skydive Tecumseh has been owned since 2011 by Franz Gerschwiler through his corporation, Bad Ideaz Inc., according to the lawsuit. Aalto became head of Al Meyers Airport Corp. in 2014 after buying shares owned by Keith Diver. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  11. So here is a question - are we now going to see a flood of complaints to RD's about TI's violating this once a video appears on Youtube or Vimeo? Are RD's actually going to suspend ratings over these BSR violations? Are they going to just give out "warnings" and then ignore it with the flood of complaints that they get? Is this a NW (Non-Waiverable), FB (Full-Board), or RD (Regional Director) waiver-able? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

I've spent a few weeks in the bay area and while real estate prices are sky high the rest of the commodities and dining are about the same price as anywhere else. I've had similar meals that cost the same in Vegas, SV, NYC, Orlando, Portland, Dallas and Chicago. Big cities tend to have slightly higher prices than when I've had similar meals in Temple TX, Hartford, CT or Rittman Ohio. Hell the tunnel time at SFBay is cheaper than it is in any of their Texas locations. I'm waiting for the part of the conversations where someone remembers when Coke was 25 cents and a burger was a dollar. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Of note is that dragging the US into their holy war with ground troops is part of their plan. Religious driven wars are generational in length and wins/losses are hard to judge. http://www.theatlantic.com/features/archive/2015/02/what-isis-really-wants/384980/?utm_source=SFFB Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  22. The US has the worst maternity leave program of the entire world - basically none in a lot of jobs. This has been something that states are taking on and changing on a state by state basis but its a shame that a new mother has to go back to work within a week or two in some instances since they are out of sick days and can not go with out income for the 6-8 weeks that is recommended. As a side note look for this to be a topic on the 2016 presidential election since it is a hot topic among a lot of younger women voters - the ones both parties are needing to get to win the election.
