  1. As much as some people want this to be wishful thinking I have recently spent some time around a few people that are 100% voting for Trump since he is a "True Conservative and "Will stick it to the liberals as hard as possible!" This person was also going out fund raising for Trump and was planning on backing him even if he went third party since the rest were "Republicans in name only". A few weeks ago when Trump was only poling at 15% I sat back and listened as a group of people at our community pool were having a conversation and there seemed to be a large portion of the group that said no matter what they would vote for Trump since he does not "owe anyone anything" and since he was so successful as a businessman he would be able to get jobs back to the hard working Americans that have had all their jobs stolen by illegals. That seemed to be a reoccurring theme for a few in the group in that they were expecting Trump to keep all the illegals out and then hunt down all the illegals here and kick them out using the military if needed. Another reoccurring topic seemed to be they wanted to figure out how to get Obama and the Clintons (and liberals in general) arrested for crimes against America. I think that we are seeing the manifestation of a candidate that is exactly what a lot of people have been pushing as argument points against the current administration and against a potential Democratic candidate. Little thought is being given to the unity of the county and working towards a common goal but Trump is hitting on all the points that I've heard pushed on some media outlets for the last few years. Get the illegals out of the county, increase the military, cut all the government that is "dragging business down", etc. No one really wants to have all of those things at the same time but they are all great talking points and if you can get one point to stick with every person you now are building critical mass and can eliminate a lot of the more mainstream people from the race. Once the race gets down to 5-6 candidates one of two things will happen - Trump will fall to middle of the pack since all the support will be going to some of the more traditional candidates or he is going to win the nomination since as you look at some of the others like Christie and others that drop out and their supporters go to Trump. I hope its option 1 for a lot of reasons but it will be interesting to see for sure. Trump will have some issues around funding the campaign since he has already lost the support of some major PAC's and will need to finance the majority of this out of his pocket. He has deep pockets on paper but a lot of his wealth is tied up and is not liquid to be able to be spent easily. Where this gets interesting is that if he runs without the support of most of the PAC's that frees a lot of the PAC money up to be spent on issues and other campaigns at the state and local level. In someways this can work well for the republicans since now the money can go a lot further in terms of winning more than just the presidency. If he does not get the nomination and runs as a third party now that PAC money is going to have to go for the presidential election to fight against him and the democrats and not help the state and local issues at all. 2. I've had customers that after using their reserve take their rig to another rigger instead for repack and never tell me they needed to use it or even let me try to pack it again that season and instead wait until the last minute in the spring and want it repacked for an upcoming weekend where the weather looks good. 3. You still need to go through the course to understand the decision tree on how to deal with the drogue and the unique factors of the tandem rig - even if you are jumping it solo. The first few jumps of the course are solo with out anyone on you anyways. On a typical rig you do not have to deal with a drogue and in most cases when a big boy is using a tandem rig its been modified to remove the drogue releases so that their act of pitching a drogue is the same as a pilot chute and it directly opens the main. With a tandem rig that has not been converted you now get to add in things like the collapsed drogue issue, out of sequence deployments, the order of pulling the handles (2 drogue release) cutaway, reserve, Crystal Ball (if equipped) and a few other issues. Couple that with needing to learn about the trap door effect if its a Vector/Sigma, how/when to set the drogue, pin checks, RSL disconnecting, etc there is a lot of training needed prior to jumping a tandem rig. You can't expect to just walk to the DZ pull one off the wall and start jumping it. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  4. That flag is not automatically set and is only activated when you check the box on a post for NSFW. Typically the kids will not bother going back and editing the post to turn that on inunless it's pretty clear that it needed a turned on. On mobile postings the check box is near the choose file button so sometimes it gets turned on by accident. Was the post showing as edited by a mod? 11. This has already happened a few years ago. A former president of the UPSA ran the course and signed off on two jumpers that were short of the free fall requirements for their AFF rating and counted their tunnel experience as time for ratings. I was told a waiver was asked for for this but it sat around at the USPA long enough that the jumpers had done enough AFF jumps as an instructor at that point that they had completed enough instructional jumps that they had the requirements met and the waiver was no longer needed. I can't wait for someone with 100 jumps and 5 hours in the tunnel to be granted an tandem rating since tunnel time is a "substitute" for free fall according to a few people on the board. 16. So here is my feedback on FXC so far - they suck really badly in terms of any sort of follow up. I have left 3 voicemails with different mailboxes in their company over the last 2 weeks and no one will bother to call me back nor answer their phones when they are around. Their voice mail still reflects being out on leave from almost a week after when they were to be back. I'm hoping that they eventually decide to call me back for my customers issues. 17. I have not seen this location mentioned anywhere else yet nor on the latest list of locations that iFly is looking for instructors. iFLY Indoor Skydiving To Open First Maryland Location At THE AVENUE At White Marsh BALTIMORE, July 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal Realty Investment Trust (NYSE: FRT) announced today that iFLY Indoor Skydiving will open its first Maryland location at THE AVENUE at White Marsh. The indoor skydiving destination will occupy a newly constructed 6,000 square foot space, adding to THE AVENUE at White Marsh's current 298,000 square feet of total space. Groundbreaking is expected in late fall of 2015 with a projected opening mid-2016. At iFLY, anyone age three to 103 can feel the rush of freefall skydiving without the risk of jumping out of an airplane. Following a brief training session, fliers are outfitted in a flight suit, helmet and flight goggles before entering a vertical wind tunnel with a certified instructor. Fliers do not jump or fall, but simply lean into the wind tunnel and float on the column of air while learning basic flying skills. With additional training, fliers can progress to group flying and advanced aerial maneuvers to further enjoy the sport of indoor skydiving. iFLY also offers an accredited STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education program that teaches and educates grades 2 through 12 in a fun and interactive environment utilizing the flight experience to help students understand gravity, drag and other principles of physics and flight. "THE AVENUE at White Marsh is an ideal environment for our newest tunnel location. We look forward to being a part of this already well-established family destination and becoming an integral part of the community. From birthday parties, to educational classes, to corporate outings, our team is ready to deliver the dream of flight to the Baltimore area," said iFLY CEO Alan Metni. Acquired by Federal Realty in 2007, THE AVENUE at White Marsh is an outdoor lifestyle center conveniently located off I-95, approximately 50 miles north of Washington DC. The Center includes a merchandising mix comprised of more than 45 stores, with national retailers including AMC Theatres, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, and Ulta. The popular family restaurant, Texas Roadhouse, recently broke ground for construction of a 7,420 square foot addition to THE AVENUE at White Marsh with an expected fall 2015 opening. "THE AVENUE's regional draw, combined with its ideal location along the I-95 travel corridor, made it a natural fit for iFLY," said Chris Fleming, Director of Asset Management for Federal Realty Investment Trust. "The addition of this dynamic and unique amenity solidifies THE AVENUE at White Marsh as a premier entertainment destination in the Baltimore market. As we continue to work toward our vision for this asset, we expect THE AVENUE at White Marsh to become a regional destination as much as it is 'the place' for the local community." "We are excited to welcome iFLY to THE AVENUE at White Marsh," said Baltimore County Council Chairwoman Cathy Bevins. "This new attraction will give residents and thrill-seeking visitors the opportunity to experience indoor skydiving, and will continue to make White Marsh a destination -- drawing people and economic investment to the region." County Councilman David Marks added, "This exciting new business will diversify the many choices of entertainment in our area. It is something entirely different and I look forward to trying it out!" 18. Is there any testing or re certification needed on a unit? I got a rig in that has been in a closet for 10-11 years and the owner wants to get in the air. I called FXC but they are on a summer shutdown right now and will not be back for another week or two. I was told there was a SB in the early 2000's but I can't seem to find info on it nor if it was ever complied with on the card. Anyone know what it was? 20. Anyone aware of any Astra SB's or anything that has been put out on these in the last 6-8 years? That seems to be the newest info I can find on them. 22. For my toddler she rode lap seating for her first few flights but once I had to start paying for a seat for her I started bringing the car seat on the plane and strapping her into that. I fly a lot for business and rarely see anyone else doing that but its perfectly valid to do on all US carriers. With our newborn he's been flying lap but my wife is a big fan of baby wearing and most airlines here freak out at having children strapped to parents and will not allow it for lap children. 23. Last one I knew that was flying jumpers went in with multiple people killed when the wing fell off in flight: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4625860#4625860 FAA classifies the plane as Experimental so its not certified to carry jumpers at all.
