Why is it necessary to cutaway before entering the water? Depth perception is horrible over a body of water, especially one large enough to remove any peripheral spatial references like open ocean. Arrive Safely John

I own both of those DVDs and watch them all the time. I am also looking forward to getting the new one - "Live from Gdansk" with the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra . . . I saw most of it last week on VH1 Classic. It's excellent - better than his last two DVDs IMO. In the new one David Gilmour plays some more familiar instruments than his more recent solo DVDs . . . the famous "black strat" and the red one with the white pick guard as well. On the black strat you will notice a wide leather guitar strap that has lighter colored leather X's weaved into it. His wife bought that at a Sotheby's auction and gave it to him for his 60th birthday . . . it used to belong to Jimi Hendrix. Arrive Safely John

Would you elaborate on the last part of that statement? Arrive Safely John

That depends on what condition the glass was in when I got to it. If it was empty and I filled it halfway - half full. It it was given to me full and I drank 50% of it - half empty. Arrive Safely John

Paraclete has nothing to do with Sunpath. Paraclete sold the armor business and built a wind tunnel. Sunpath's move to Raeford is completely unrelated. Arrive Safely John

I was just talking about his "narcoleptic pilot" routine the other day. I have him on a bunch of videos . . . I think I'll dig them out tonight. Arrive Safely John

Jerry, The Altimaster III hasn't been manufactured in years. The Alti-2 model that is closest in profile to the Altimaster III is the Galaxy. Arrive Safely John

I adjust all points of the student harness on the ground for proper fit - I am ready to hook up the student and exit in case of an emergency bailout. I adjust the harness in a different order than the fitment guide, but I arrive at the same result. The only adjustment I make in the aircraft is to snug down the diagonal backstraps, which always loosen from the student standing/sitting and walking around, and fine tuning the waist band after the side straps have been tightened down. We don't have a formal tandem progression at Raeford - we teach our first jump students AFF. The only time we will do a "working" tandem with a first jump student is when they balk at doing their first AFF jump for whatever reason. Your first jump course will be about 6 hours, with 6 minutes of tunnel time at SkyventureXP. You will have a fantastic time! Make sure you are booked to do the First Jump Course and not a tandem. Call Tony at (910) 904-0000. W-F 1300 until dark. Sat/Sun 0830 until dark. If you have any more questions shoot me a PM and I'll reply with my phone number. Arrive Safely John

I was there in October of 1993. We jumped into the Texas State Fair, spent a couple of days training in Gainesville, jumped into a high school in Tyler, then did an airshow in Ft. Worth. Althought I got some very bad news while I was on that trip, I remember it fondly. I love Texas. The hospitality at Gainesville was outstanding. We also jumped into a neighboring DZ y'all were friendly with at the end of a training day - I don't remember which one. Arrive Safely John

Good ole Billy G. Ironically, he hates flying. He used to ride in the back of the F-27 (C-31) in the webbed seats all the time. Most "Old Guys" with tenure on the Team rode in the airline seats up front. I asked him one day why he rode back there with the new guys and he said "did you ever see an airplane back into the side of a mountain?" When the movie "Alive" came out, the aircraft that crashed down the mountainside and broke into a thousand pieces was the Fairchild version of the F-27. Billy didn't like that visual very much. Here's another . . . Moderators only have greenie privileges in the forums they moderate. For a list of Moderators in a particular forum, look at the bottom of the forum page. This is still not common knowledge . . . lots of folks still just PM whichever Mod is online. Arrive Safely John

There used to be a DZ in Gaineville, TX (maybe there still is). I jumped there in 1993 or 1994. What was the name of it? Arrive Safely John
