In the recent sexiest plane thread, someone mentioned the Beech Staggerwing. And so I offer the following... It is indeed a sexy bird, a true classic. -the artist formerly known as sinker

The same way on the "Sexy Plane" poll, I had to go with the Spitfire and disagree with the folks who suggested the SR-71. It is an awesome plane, but not sexy.*** well, there's no accounting for taste is there... -the artist formerly known as sinker
-
Hands down, this award goes to Gheorghe Muresan. See attached. *** holy shit.. you're right... that dude was beat w/ an ugly stick. I've changed my mind about this... Muresan is THE ugliest... -the artist formerly known as sinker

it's a dragonfly. often powered by a subaru engine. composite. very hard to land esp. w/ no elevator in the rear and w/ the outrigger main gear. -the artist formerly known as sinker

Sigh....SR-71. You have to admire a plane that goes so fast it takes 3 states to pull a U-turn.*** LOL! That desk jockey that used to live across the street from us at Edwards? His job was sort of public relations... when an upcoming sortie loomed, it was his deplorable task to call up officials in the particular states where a turn or fly over would be occuring... he hated that part... -the artist formerly known as sinker

looks like we stump each other... I just love this shit. True about the ruskies and their penchant for either xeroxing our designs or coming up w/ such bizarro stuff that it never goes anywhere. Too much Vodka I guess. one last one before bed... an easy one... one of my favorite experimentals... -the artist formerly known as sinker

agree 100%. But I don't understand the "Viper" versus "Fighting Falcon" part. The Air Force's own bit calls it the Falcon (http://www.af.mil/history/70s_80s/airpower/f-16.shtml). Where does Viper come from? *** i'm w/ you on that one... I was at MacDill in the early '80s when they transitioned from F-4's to the F-16... was always the fighting falcon to me... -the artist formerly known as sinker
-
sheesh! you're something boy, really something! -the artist formerly known as sinker

it's an orlyonoks A-90, the civilian one... the black and white I posted next is the "Caspian Sea Monster" so designated from US intelligence (I think) who saw this fast moving large thing skating across the caspian sea during the cold war. Um, I think it can be argued that it is a plane... it banks, it travels independent of the surface, albeit in ground effect, and can even raise above ground effect for a while. Yeah, I know... it's not strictly a plane but it isn't a hover craft either. -the artist formerly known as sinker
-
well, don't be TOO jealous, our neighbor across the street at Edwards AFB was a desk jockey at the Palmdale Lockheed plant... he was around the beauties every day... the stories he could tell... -the artist formerly known as sinker

um... dude... how quickly you forget the size of my johnson, so soon after our Sheraton rendez-vous... -the artist formerly known as sinker
