  1. I shoe goo my booties. Then they last quite a while. I am not a fan of waiting to release my toggles. I once had a tension knot, on one break line, that i cold not clear. I think you should get control of your canopy and do a quick performance check, practice flair. There are many malfunctions that are not apparent untill after you have released your toggles and done a canopy check. Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...
  2. I should have figured the French had something to do with Wild Turkey when they started making a liqueur. Back when i partyed like a southern viking, we used to drink wild turkey liqueur, from the bottle. That way you had one hand free and you did not have to worry about spilling a coke chaser. 3. We were exiting a 9 way last weekend, and it looked like the door fell off and we were just sucked out. I think we should be allowed even encouraged to wear our rigs when flying commerical. Maybe in a similar accident a skydiver will be the only one that can tell what really happened.
  4. At many places i jump you have only two directions you can land, (like an airport runway). This is due to many reasons: long narrow landing area, like a runway. Obstacles, spectators, bulidings, hangers, or the actual runway. So you must be able to land cross and even down wind or go to the student area. One DZ calls the pattern before you board the airplane, so it is usually down wind down hill, or up hill crosswind; or so it seems. Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...
  5. Probally make thing better. Go to the DZ together but still enjoy different things. Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...
  6. We do some 5 way. Sometimes we have a 4 way planed and some one snivels on our jump (Joe). We will change as little as possible. If the fifth person does not fit a paticular point they can alway side body, cat, out face, or stairstep the point. Five way: phalex, donut, open accordion, close accordion, bundy, sat, unipod, crank, side body. The fun never ends, oh break off. Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...
  7. Since we are supposed to be talking about being cut from a load. I thought i should mention a little incident this weekend. A skydiver who has been around since the 70's, but does not have a lot of jumps, was diving on an 12 way. He landed flat on top of a jumper that was lurking in her slot, and had been there for a couple of seconds. After the jump he wanted to insest that she went under him. I watched as he closed hard and fast. If she had not been there he would have gone low. He did not veer or slow down. He did decide to take himself off the load. But never did understand, that he was out of control. We were not happy that he was not interested in the opinion of the other people on the load. Picture by Corey Parker, Hey Joe where are you gooing? we can get one more point! Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...

  14. I can see where a single 182 DZ has limited options. But getting cut from a load is not Skydiving specific. Think basketball. Varsity, Jv, pick up games. Not every one gets to play 4th quarter for the Bulls. Some people have put much time money and effort to up their game. In fact you say " (more skill, more fun). Half the fun is in learning," I aggree. At the big DZ's you wont miss loads. A few guys with about 200 jumps just returned from florida and they made 46 jumps each in 5 and half days. But they did not get on every load. BTW if you have one 182 and there are ten jumpers on the DZ how does every one get to make the sunset load? Who took this picture?? 18. The health and disability don't care about skydiving, but the life policy does. not attempt a tandem jump until some kind of life coverage is in place. ----------------------------------------------------------- Hey Dj I am am Insurance agent, and a tandem instructor at Skydive Oregon. I would be interested in helping solve all your stated problems. Humm. except the attempted tandem, there is no attempt. Once we leave the Otter door we are going to do it. As for the Skydiving life styles they are as varied as as you can conceive. Of course there are the single wild ones, but the group i jump with the most are all either married or in long term committed relationships. Any way do you have a copy of the actual policy i would like to read the exceptions. USPA does have an life policy, but i do not know if it is approved in Oregon. photo by Corey Parker Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...

  20. I mention breaking it down to smaller groups, but.. Go back and read Steve's " Being cut from a load! " in this forum. All that applies. If you want to control the quality of the Skydives you can hire your own LO, now pronounced coach, and invite the people you want to participate. If the DZ has hired some one to put together 20ways, and you want to do 10 way, what about the other 10 people and the cost ratio. That line between "it's all good", and "had the most fun ever" gets blurred as your skills increase. PS I really wanted to show some photos taken by Corey Parker this past weekend. PPS Had the most fun ever! Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...
  21. So My laptop walked off recently. I am comparing the Dell Inspiron 660m with the Centrino wireless chip to the Inspiron 1100 Pentium 4 2Ghz. The 4 seems like more computer for less #899 + $49 for wireless card, to $1299, no card needed, for the Centrino. What am i missing. Price is an object, at least untill jumps become free. 22. they all had water before somebody decided someone should bomb ______________________________________________ Does "all" include the 1,200,000 people who are dead due to Saddam"s prior indiscretions. If Saddam had abided with the Gulf War I ceace fire aggreements or had just left Iraq, there would not have been any bombing. Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...
  23. What Bill said: With almost 3000 jumps i stalled a Reserve on landing and broke my wrist. Do several practice flares up high and fly the canopy around getting use to it. Make sure you are landing in a safe place. Your friends job is to watch your free bag, your job is to land safely. Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...
  24. I used to wrap my chest strap around the reserve handle. That handle looked liked a carrying handle to taxi drivers. But now i have pillows for my handles. I cant imagine the situation where i would feel a need for zip ties. but if i did i would have long red ribbons on them. Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...

Hey Hans: YOu were a no show when we passed through Orlando. We had a little party at the Black Angus, about a dozen of us. Good times but quick trip. Attached are pic of dinner last night Cheri got a new cook booK. London Broil, Curry potatoes, Maple pudding. If the sun pokes its face out this weekend it all will be good. Try Joy, sounds better.
