150 to 150 is downsizing? What kind of math is that? Kallend - if you would reread the initial post which HAS NOT been edited, perhaps you would've realized you made a mistake right off the bat. Absurd? Inappropriate?? Absurdity insinuates "having no purpose or meaning". So in effect, you are saying that this skydiver's question isn't worth answering? We all know what you mean airgord and, LtDan, I think there is quite a bit of good sense in learning to fly the sabre in as many different types of situations as possible in order to be as safe as possible under a HIGHER PERFORMANCE canopy where your friend would have to react faster to situations. The locals jumping with him would know best. Good luck. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

I would completely disagree with this statement. Skydiving is not nearly as dangerous and unforgiving as BASE jumping. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

I am still deep in the "do i really want the associated risk that comes along with being a good, active, safe, level headed BASE jumper". I have not started BASE jumping but have a very strong desire to. I would prefer the sport to be more difficult to break into, meaning, I better damn well be ready for the risks associated to it to spend the amount of time learning and progressing. I would rather my mentor's and friends that I learn from as my time in the sport progresses to rediculously redicule everything I do to my rig, to my exits, to my landings, etc - rather than it be too easy of a sport to get into. This is what I ask of any partner I travel into high avalanche danger areas with, this is what I ask of someone when I'm on rope with them because the risks are HUGE in these types of sports for incorrect decisions. My bottom line point is, the closed-ness one might assume of the participants of BASE jumping is really not that at all, it is a direct benefit to the sport because those with a true desire to be a part of the sport must spend quite a bit of time to learn it correctly and learn ones limits. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

GOOD - if we were smart we'd push for electric vehicle and mass transportation so we never EVER have to deal with any of the middle east ever again!!! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Dumb question - where is the best place to go about purchasing 30mm Diamond lenses? Thank you all in advance. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -

Let it roll of the back???
freakydiver replied to freakydiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So here I am at my local DZ a few weeks back chillin like a villin right? There wasn't a whole lot goin on, so we're just messin around with some 8way stuff, you know, just havin fun. We're about to get on this load, but the pilot actually had to check something out, so we decide to do another run-through of the upcoming dive and this guy says - not realizing I'm standing right next to him listening to his conversation, "I don't know why on earth they dirt dive things time and time again because nice times out of ten it never goes right in the sky." I don't know why, but this irked me the wrong way. I have never criticised anyone for their choice of flight method, whether it be head-down, sit, rw, what the F*** ever, we are all skydivers and therefore we are all brothers and sisters, right????? It's a few weeks later and I'm still irked by that one guy's comments as I've seen more and more segregation at different DZs based on method of flight. Should I confront this guy and let him know that I don't think there is a place for negativity like that on a DZ? Should I just forget about it and move on?? Anyone else have any similar experiences??? -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -
Print to tape is indeed the one... I just did it for the first time last week - and stragely enough - IT ACTUALLY WORKED THE FIRST TIME!!!

Well, I had the surgery and didn't jump for close to a year. It sucked. But, five years later, I have no ill effects of the surgery - I can play all the hoops I want and do all the jumping I want without worrying which is a HUGE weight off of my shoulder (pun inteneded). -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Dumb question - I take it most if not all of the dig cameras mentioned here can accept some sort of remote trigger? I have never looked into it - forgive me if this subject has been hammered on before. I am just now considering goin still dig on my jump helmet. Thanks!! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

I jumped with a torn RC for 33 jumps (guesstimate). The 34th jump after my initial shoulder injury, at pull time my shoulder came completely out of the socket which ended up causing way more damage than just to the RC. Although it was a bad situation to be in at pull time, it was kind of funny looking at my right arm streaming like a noodle behind me completely useless. Went for silver and went for surgery the next week. Since surgery, I've had no issues whatsoever except for a bit of an abnormal RW box position because of the loss of flexibility. Get the things fixed that need fixing. It isn't worth risking your entire jumping carrer for one summer of fun. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Bombers to Guam? Yeah, that'll calm things down.
freakydiver replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
I think the world is in a massive downward spiral that will end up leaving the earth nice and radioactive unless massive change sweeps over the planet which it wont because we are expanding at a rate close to that of the average cancer. So lets go jump. After that, I'm buying! -
Regular Expressions are mucho helpful in four way as well as String Manipulation. If one has an irregular expression in freefall, one most likely should check their drawers... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

As a recipient of shoulder surgery some years back, and having not done a basejump, please forgive this if a) there are threads to search this on OR b) its a stupid question. How hard is the typical opening shock on the average slider up jump? What about slider down/off?? I've owned a couple of Sabres loaded at 1.5 - 1.7 ish and had my neck hurting for days on end sometimes from the crap openings. I've never been sore after any of my reserve openings (3). Thanks in advance. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

You've got to be kidding me? That reminds me of this flight I watched from trippin tracy in canyonlands (she wasn't actually the pilot), but this guy took a small ass cessna through some crazy tight canyons and through an arch, unbelievable... How many of you basers out there have met trippin tracy at the gas stop right outside of the park. WEALTH of info (I think she's got some time to kill). -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

I caught my cat pissing on my main a few years back. I wanted to take a shotgun to him. You can contact the humane society if you want. I refrained from kicking him as far as I could and just asked him to become an outdoors cat for good. Thank god it never gets too cold in Denver. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Audiable altimeters for students...
freakydiver replied to Clownburner's topic in Safety and Training
IMHO - forget the audible, learn to use your eyes. You really need to get used to what everything looks like at different altitudes - this is the BEST altimeter you can buy. Again IMHO - the safest skydivers I've been around in my short time in the sport don't even need an altimeter period. I'd much much rather be used to the look of two, three, four, whatever thousand feet than the sound of it in my ear. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -
I've found that as long as you are true to your skillset and willing to take advice, most big way organizers are willing to work with you. Heck, MadJohn flew let me in on some of the bigger ways back in the day at Lost Prarie even with a hundo jumps or so because he went up with me a few times on some 30+ ways and saw that I'm not in a huge hurry during any part of the dive. He did a heck of a lot for my confidence as well! Good luck. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
