Happy Birthday Day Marines! 231 years off kicking ass. Semper Fi Dave Overland 3rd Recon Bn 1986-1989 "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

How about a little more notice next time. "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

Well said. "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

Sorry about the butt kicking the Tigers got in St. Louis. GO CARDS!! "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

There are COs who can issue standing orders that no one in the unit can do any form of parachute jumps. *** We didn't have that problem at 3rd Recon Bn. I use to pack my CO's parachute.

Heavier jumpers are at a slight disadvantage when it comes to canopy size and wing loading. A jumper under a 200 sq. ft canopy with a wing loading of .75 will have more penetration into the wind than a jumper under a 310 sq ft canopy with the same wing loading. The drag of the bigger canopys doesn't scale with wing loading. I weight 190 lbs and jump a Black Jack 310 and a Troll DW 305 MDV normally from 250ft to 350ft. range for freefalls. In zero to light winds they are awsome, but add a 10 mph wind to the equation and I'm at a stand still. The Black Jack has more forward speed than the Troll but I'm still limited. Since I tend to jump in higher winds on slider up jumps I bought a ACE 280 which gives me that higher wing loading and a little less drag. So my advice would be to go with the larger canopy if your jumping the low stuff in light winds. I'm no expert. Just my 2 cents

We lost a BASE brother in that plane crash in Missouri yesterday. Robert Cook was a up and coming BASE jumper who had just recently recieved his BASE #. He was a damn fine jumper and a friend. C-Ya Robert Dave Overland BASE 772 "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

Ahhhh, The old MT-1. The good old days.

The vents on the BJ. Faster pressurization at the same air speed. I have never jumped a ACE or BJ at terminal so I don't know. I'm not saying I'm right but in my small brain I can't see how the ACE can open harder at terminal than the BJ. But I just ordered a ACE 280 just for terminal jumps. That's why I'm really interested. Is this common? I would fiqure if the ACE and the Black Jack are the same airfoil with the exception of the vents the BJ would open harder at subterminal and terminal. Any One? "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

Now this guy knows what he wants! I'd be there but some of us have to work full time for a living. "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

Right on!! I was born August 1966. I'm just a pup. "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

I truly think that onheading performance is more on how the canopy comes out of the container. Good or bad body position, oscillating PC, or what ever. Most offheadings I have watched you can tell when the canopy is being extracted from the container. With that being said, I believe that bottom skin inflation happens first so I would think the nose will just follow. So I don't think it really matters if you expose a lot of the nose or not. Damn Finns, all they do is go on vacations and BASE jump. I'm jealous!! "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

Damn, I couldn't do that now. I guess 20 years of drinking to much is the same as a good crack on the skull. Hang in there dude. "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

Thanks for the replys, I'm always looking to learn or to compare techniques. I thought a little tech stuff is good for this forum every once in a while. "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

Yes, I always use both direct and indirect slider control on all my whole 14 terminal jumps. "When it comes to BASE, I'll never give advice, only my opinion"

Was wondering how many people still use the primary stow before they S-fold the supension lines in the tail pocket for slider off jumps. I have been free stowing my lines for over the past 200 jumps with no ill effects. How about some opinions. Some manufactures say to make the primary stow, some say not.?
