  1. those helicopter spins were on purpose and thank you phree for the nice opening... however if treeboys tandem had gone before i surfed, i wouldn't have let you pack for me
  2. and i like it just stoked about a first board jump today... it was crazy and out of control, and really hard to get stable, but i loved it. haven't felt that rush since my first jump... wow. i think i might buy one... i'll post photos tomorrow. gear etc

hey david, that's great you are starting to think about gear... altimeter is the best place to start, and goggles, find ones you really like, comfortable... i'd say no rush though onthe helmet and jumpsuit... for one thing, what kind of skydiving do you want to do? RW? Freefly? An A3 is great for belly, not preferable for freefly. I have an A3, which i almost never use anymore since I got my bonehead mindwrap and start freeflying more... I wear it for RW dives also, camera and all. and i had a protec, open face, went to the full face, liked it, but i like the open face better, but that's just me... For anyone with 3 jumps though, i'd suggest borrowing student gear as long as possible, until you know where in skydiving you're headed... (get it, head?) nevermind. anyway, as for the jumpsuit, same thing, is it a RW or Freefly suit? and do you know how fast you fall, and if you need a slower suit, wings, drag, weights??? i'd say wait until you get about 30-40 jumps to think about ordering a suit, until then, borrow one from the dz. then as the people you jump with with more experience if they think you need to adust your fall rate... a suit makes a big difference... take your time... talk to you soon
  4. freaksis, hope your dad's ok on a lighter note I JUMPED TODAY oh yeah it's great to be back, and uh-hum phree, why the hell weren't you there, man, seth and i talked trash about you the whole time...and we had to bank on two random tandems to make a load, what a pathetic showing for the grand reopening of the sky... and it's a good thing the um-pilot-dzo didn't swing over the afb, i'd hate to be shot down on my way to altitude...
  5. Saturday???? hell no. i'm haulin ass up there after school TODAY. after all, it's a raincheck day for blue flu wednesday, it's beautiful and sunny out, and my kids don't have a game, so i can blow this popsicle stand at 3:30.... i haven't jumped since labor day, it's starting to tear apart my being... get high
  6. i'd love to come to florida, especially now that it's getting colder at 13,5 over ohio... got a spare airline ticket?
  7. oh yeah, fell a few times at skydive smokey mountains in tennesee too, sorry for forgetting you guys, Smokey Mountains was an awesome dz, very friendly. i wonder about the locals though, i lost my helmet and protrack on a dive down there, and i sware they're hoarding it at wal-mart, i though for sure it landed in the parking lot... hmmm, i'm glad now that my name wasn't on it though...
  8. and how, marc, do you know i wasn't just kidding with you...? .... hmmmm sarcasm is dangerous in text... btw, thanks 365, you've got a ways to go, but we'll jump together sometime... until the skies re-open, i'll just keep watching videos and downloading stills
  9. that was the sun, sorry i thought that was obvious thanks marc
  10. skyborn and raised at Aerodrome in Richmond Indiana, currently frequent both richmond and Skydive Greene County, in Xenia Ohio... also have jumped at Cleveland SPC, CrossKeys NJ, Skydive Kansas, Quincy (of course), Skydive Chicago, Carolina SkySports, Raeford, Deland, Palatka, Daytona Beach, SGC Bardstown Kentucky, the bridge over the New River, various "bad spots" outside Cincinnati, Coolidge Arizona, and Skydive Americas in Pahokee Florida... i think i remembered all of them...
  11. hey chuck, yep, i got that on video, those were your muffs??? how funny. i can't even flat fly as slow as that whale, what does that make me? that was funny.... all of quincy was funny... hope we jump together again soon blue skies lew
  12. yep, that was the collapsible slider... and mtnman, sure, we'll jump together sometime and phreezone, you know "It's all about the video"..... cause "this one time at quincy".... i was exiting the casa and screamed "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" see you this weekend? i'll try to attach another.... look left, see steveO give me the peace sign while my braids are flyin...
  13. thanks mountainman. you will definately make jumps like that, soon... your eagerness on the ground will translate in the air, and you will be free... as for the site, i've had a hellofa time working on it ever since quincy. i got a phone call while i was at quincy that offerend me a new job, starting 2 weeks after quincy... i used to have a 9-5er which payed well and i didn't have to work nights/weekends. so i took the new job, which i love, had to give up my old computer, with all my files/photoshop and mghz... 3 weeks ago, and i have a new computer, slow, which i just have started relaoding programs... and my new job is crazy, but i love it, but i have no time to play on the computer... except for the glimpses i take to peek at dz.com... long story short: I'm working on the webpage, lots more to come, just starved for time... keep jumpin blue skies
  14. had a great jump with SteveO, and despite troubles editing my webpage, i was able to just upload the files, so check em out if you're bored. http://lewmonst.com/steveOcanopies173.jpg http://lewmonst.com/mesteveOlaunch183.jpg
  15. try living at the dz, mowing the grass or something in exchange for a roof. jumping is a priority.
  16. slappie and wildblue understood what i posted and followed up... thanks guys. "thread" means the entire discussion, or all the posts. I had posted afterwards when i'd found out the true magnitude of what happened. peace, give blood, tell your friends and family that you love them... life is too precious and too fragile
  17. mountainman, did you read the rest of the thread? i heard from my best friend in the city and she is ok, but i haven't had a chance to talk to her about what it looks like from being in manhatten. i'm afraid to know. like i said, the enormity of the is horrifying, and i hope that you and your close ones are safe...
  18. marc, i'm sorry all i heard at first was a plane crashed but didn't injur anyone in the building, sorry for the confusion. i by no means meant to be insensitive and hadn't realized the grandness of this tragedy until after i had posted... like i said, i sincerely apologize to anyone and everyone affected. my best friend lives on 46th st and works in downtown manhatten, and i can't get ahold of her or any of her family to find out if she's ok. i can't keep up with the news, can't even get cnn.com to load or anything.
  19. oh shit, at first they said no injuries... and i just heard the world trade center just collapsed on itself and there are going to be massive fatalities... whoa. i apologize for my light joke about jumping whigh now is trivial, this is truly a tragedy
  20. All aircraft accross the country are grounded... bummer, guess we can't jump today ...back to work...
  21. i'm surprised we haven't seen a post yet from the local expert - you know who i'm talking about - cuase he would know, you know, with 40 jumps and all. i'm sure he could tell you all about phantoms and sizing charts.... ooh maybe that was just rude
  22. brandon, 1st of all, fisheye is refered to primarily for still photography, and yes, those are expensive. a .42 is plenty wide for video, and easy to come-by for any sony cam or any typical video cam we use. try ebay or b&h BUT FOR THE SAKE OF LAURA, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT STRAPPING A CAMERA ON YOUR HEAD YET
  23. fyi brandon, most places that do beach jumps require a minimum 200 jumps or D license... there is far more to a beach jump than just getting checked off for your b-license. call ahead to whatever dz you plan to beach jump from, and find out their requirements. ps, i wouldn't suggest jumping your new gear either, for obvious reasons, sand, saltwater, etc, and cuase the landing areas are wierd, long yet very narrow, many crosswind/downwind landings... don't hurt yourself, more importantly, don't hurt me
  24. Brandon, where do you get your information, you 40-jump-wonder? why do you keep replying to posts when you don't have any experience related to the topic at hand? btw, how's that new zp semi-eliptical canopy with a 1.36 wing loading on jump #34? ps-you can hang out at the dz forever, but there's only one way to get experience under canopy.
