Super Otter at Skydive Tecumseh
AntiPinkChrissy replied to AntiPinkChrissy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Skydive Tecumseh has added a Super Otter to its fleet of aircraft (of 182's) and we will be flying it 6 days a week so come on out and play with us! We will also be holding the State Record in June, and camping is available on the airport. Check out the website at www.skydivetecumseh.com for our full list of activities, don't miss out on our Toga Party!!! Home of the Flying Hellfish....'no points, no problem' ~La La Gang Member #2~ -
Here is mine, hopefully the attachment comes out OK. Actually, this is my teammates, but mine should be here anyday now!!! ~La La Gang Member #2~

I own a Pit Special Tony suit and recently purchased a Competition Bev suit. Although I haven't been able to fly the Bev suit yet, I am already liking it a lot more then Tony. Tony--6-8 week delivery Bev--3-4 weeks delivery Tony--custom made and doesn't fit quite right, legs are too short, can't totally kneel all the way back, uncomfortable. Bev--custom made and fits fantastic. Way comfortable. Money difference--about $70.00 cheaper. and that's my .02 ~La La Gang Member #2~

yeah, I was almost thinking about having him use a BASE canopy. Nice big 7 cell, F111, I am just afraid the flare wouldn't be as forgiving. ~La La Gang Member #2~

Then it sounds perfect for him. He did try a Triathlon, right after they modified it from the original version and he absolutely hated it. He is not use to forward glide, he has about 500 round jumps so he is use to pounding in straight down. ~La La Gang Member #2~

I think it is more of a case of she has smoked herself stupid. ~La La Gang Member #2~

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Navigator..made by PD I believe. Reason for me asking is my Dad is getting back into the sport after many years off. 2 years ago was his first jump on a square (beer!). He seems to think that a Navigator will suit him well and he has not jumped it yet. Since I have no experience with canopy, I can't really offer any insight to this. His exit weight is about 220lbs. He just wants something BIG that will land him very well. Any input would be helpful. Thanks ~La La Gang Member #2~

It may cover the monetary value, but it won't cover the 'other damage' such as an angry person at a town meeting. Letters to the editor of the local newspaper stating the DZ is a nuisance. Obviously I come from a DZ where some of the neighbors don't like the fact that we are there and would take any opportunity to get rid of us...just something to think about. ~La La Gang Member #2~

Here is something you may want to think about. Your freebag lands in a farmers field...he is harvesting and your freebag ends up in his very expensive machine...now he knows exactly who to call to get money to fix his machine. It may be worth not marking your bridle and just spending the money to replace your freebag instead of a farmers piece of machinery. Of course this really depends on where you jump at, in the sticks or somewhere closer to civiliazation. ~La La Gang Member #2~

That is a great idea to learn the dynamics of canopy control before starting to swoop, because many people don't. I can't tell you how many toggle whippers I see (well, maybe not that many, but they are scary) that watch these experienced swoopers making it look sooo easy and don't realize the dynamics behind what makes a canopy do what it does. They don't understand how many jumps these swoopers have and how many times they have dug themselves out of a swoop and saved themselves only because they have a lot of jumps and experience to do it. Knowledge is key. ~La La Gang Member #2~

I think that 150+ jumps is not enough experience with canopies in general to start swooping a canopy. There is so much to learn about your wing and how it reacts to different input that at 150 jumps you don't have the experience to swoop And I agree with the others, to start out on a larger canopy and learn. I had someone swoop the hell out of my PD170, coolest part everyone say my canopy being swooped and thought it was me..hehe ~La La Gang Member #2~

I think the first guy has a very valid point about learning RW first. You learn how to deal with things in the air at a slower speed, when freeflying you are dealing with things at a much faster speed, collisions, instability, etc. Both have excellent points of jumping with people, when doing solo's you have nothing relative to work with and that is absolutely fantastic you have people at your DZ willing to work with you. ~La La Gang Member #2~

Well, I was going to go, but know the weather is too crappy and our pilot doesn't want to fly us there. ~La La Gang Member #2~

umm...Women's work...are you sure you don't want to rephrase that? ~La La Gang Member #2~

i will be going this weekend. Never have been before...what is it like? ~La La Gang Member #2~

I think that both ways are excellent ways to learn to skydive and both have their pros and cons. I personally went though the S/L program, I had some hangups and had to repeat some jumps, but think it is a great way to learn. The thing that I have learned in this sport is there are many hurdles. I have witnessed only 1 perfect student. I know that once I got past my 5 second delay (after having to repeat it 2 times) then I had a problem with floating, then there was backsliding and the list goes on. But it is just a matter of learning what your body is actually doing and learning how to correct it. Good luck though in which ever way you choose to learn, and welcome. ~La La Gang Member #2~

Just an update for everyone. I just got an e-mail from this guy from Nigeria that I have been corresponding with that was interested in my gear. I told him I need a wire transfer instead of a check and his reply was: "I called my client and there are complications in doing a wire transfer.Any way since you are uncomfortable with the idea,I will tell my client not to bother." The guys e-mail is TonyBrown20032000@yahoo.com for those of you who are trying to sell gear, in case you get an e-mail from him. There is definately something not right with what he is trying to do. THANK YOU THANK YOU for the original post. I knew it was all too good to be true, but just didn't want to admit it. ~La La Gang Member #2~

I am dealing with a guy from Nigeria too who would like to buy my gear. So I am guessing this is all too good to be true. Or I should require a wire transfer? ~La La Gang Member #2~

I am selling gear and got a similiar e-mail to the described. Ok, I am a little naive here, I would love to get rid of my gear. What is the best way to handle the situation. Ask for a wire transfer instead? ~La La Gang Member #2~ -
Good to hear you get the same results. I didn't think I was THAT bad of a packer. ~La La Gang Member #2~

I own a Turbo ZX as well. And I would definately go with the Spectre. My Turbo opens like a box a cracker jacks, I never know what I am going to get. I can usually land my alright, but they usually aren't graceful. ~La La Gang Member #2~

Your 4-way team (plus video) is composed of....
AntiPinkChrissy replied to eames's topic in The Bonfire
ok, so I messed up my vote. My team consists of 4 women and a male videographer. And might I add...just because I want to brag a little. Last year was our first year competing and we took first place in the Michigan Skydiving League in the Rookie Class..ok..done inflating my ego. ~La La Gang Member #2~ -
I have exactly the same problem and have tried multiple types of goggles. I have tried looking for sunglasses as goggles but none of them fit right and leave gaps. Even the new ones that are specifically for skydiving and cost like $90.00 I have most recently tried Blaze goggles and they seem to work well. They aren't too big either so you don't look like a big bug-eye. The only other ones that have worked for me are the clear plastic ones, the flexvision. ~La La Gang Member #2~
