  1. well who ever shows up wed, can get in on the bbq I'll have going. some rw loads, freefly, then beer, bbq chicken, corn, and the start of the boogie. See ya there. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  2. I'm using the matrox g400 an older model of the Cajones. Workes good. I'll hopefully be updating to the G550 soon. Running 2 identical viewsonic a70f+ monitors. Its nice to have 2 of the same monitors. Makes view as seamless as possible. Plus the viewsonics are nice sharp screens. You can see what the view looks like on the attached jpg. All you need to do is stretch the program screen across both monitors. There you go. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  3. Come on now. or come now. I can't give it all away. Yes we'll do raft jumps. And much more. Yes I'm Scared. Does anyone want to see the scars from my incident. Plus I will be taking slots for my crowning achivement in skydiving. "Pete and the magic pink tube will be doing an appearance." Me, the tube and women. Sorry guys the camera slot is already taken care of. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  4. Here is the list of jumps to look for and get on: Stylin Hybrids with Guano and Pete The human disco ball, Night jump + tube + Big ass flashlights Flocking jumps with Peter RW with tubes and camera flyers all over the place plylon races Rodeos and more And when you see camers, geek them. Not like thats something new, because I'm producing the American Boogie video. Some old footage, lots of new and you. We'll have a projector to show daily footage and premiere a short I produced. So have your camera handing after sunset and we'll put your jumps on the big screen 13 days till the boogie. Can't wait to see you all there. 5. Bummer. I wish canon would stick with a decent connection port for their higher end cameras. They keep changing them. As in this case. Sucks we have to spend $100 dollars in remotes/biteswitches and then cut them. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  6. That might be the wrong adapeter for the 10d. in the list one of the cameras that is combatiable with (A2). I had one and the connection is different to the d30/d60/10d. Remote sawitch RA NS is $3 cheaper but you might as well buy RS-80ns for $6 more and have a spare switch if need be. Not recommended to buy Cable Release Adapter T3 it probably won't work. Go ahead and prove me wrong. the pics attached is how I have the connections for it. Makes life a lot easier when switching between digital or stills. I got the connections from a good electonics store. secure fit and not a single problem in 150+ jumps. Also inexpensive. Bulk up some electrical tape around the connectorto protect the wires from being crimped. Pic Wired.jpg is how it is in the helmet. The connection plug that is marked with black is for digital. I'll be using different color tape next time. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  7. Blair, It seems you have a decent grasp of the progress. 2200 jumps I have have mastered the 180 and now playing with 270's. My only advice. Leave yourself an out. Always! Other than that its nice to hear someone is practicing safely and not trying to rush their progress. Cheers www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  8. check this post out on a cheaper sony camera. digital vs film www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  9. For the tandem video crews doing dvd. Which Recorder and models are you using? Had any customer complaints? Ease of use in production time? Does the recoder close the DVD out or can you record more on it? Doing the research to add that to tandem production. Thanks in advance. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  10. I think the camera weight is going to be considerbly more. The 1D and 1DS have the motor drive for battery storeage and are made on the professional boddies. Double check. 1D 4 mmega pixels 1.3x lens multiplier 8 fps for 21 frames. Orginall designed for newspaper journalists. 1Ds 11 mega no lens multiplier pixels 3fps for 10 shots. Designed as a bad ass camera. Last is price. 1d $4,000 and 1ds $8000 The 10D is looking nice at $1,500 I would love the 1Ds. I think I could handle the extra weight for the special jumps. The quailty is probably unbeliveable. Just would not be able to lug it around the entire time. If you have the bucks, go for it. I would love to see how it works. My bet is sometime next year there will be a model that is around $2500 in the quality and speed range of the 1Ds. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  11. One of the oldest arguments/debates in skydiving. pullout vs throwout. Its like the lolli pop comercial where the kid asks the owl how many licks it takes to the get to the center of a totsi roll pop. The world will never know. Which system is best. The one that works for you. I've jumped both systems. Had 3 floating buds. found it each time. Luckly. I prefer a throwout now. my 2bits www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  12. Yep, I agree. I think PurpleBadger had already made the decision on it. I jump a film for tandems. And digital for most fun jumps and shoot film depending on what I'm trying to do. IE, best quality or true fisheye out of my fish eye lens. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  13. Sony is dropping prices on the DSC-F717 when you buy from sonystyle.com $200.00 Savings - The DSC-F717 was $999.00 NOW $799.00 A jumper in nor cal was jumping a model simmilar last weekend and got some great shots. He is an extradonary flyer. It looks like a good deal. http://www.madstyle.net goto content, then "Some cool VRW". I assume you will be top mounting it. Buy a conceptus bite / tongue switch and you are in business. http://www.conceptusinc.com www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  14. Hey guys good job on making the point that camera flying is not a normal skydive. We are adding weight to our heads and 50+ hook points that can kill us. Plus changing our awarness to filming and less on the skydive. I now wear a free fly suit to do tandems. I prefer this for the simplicity of not having a camera wing to misroute among other things. I need to fly my ass off but it has really improved my flying ability. Every new gidget and gadget should be examined under every situation before being but in the air. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  15. From the length if the replys this is a very intense forum. and something I have been reserching for a long time. Bring a computer to the dz to edit video. I am a multimedia producer. I've been using photoshop/streming media/broadcast video since 1995. Back when the computers needed to render everything. We now have powerful computers. Yes. but the term "real time" is not in non-linear editing. The only real time is an anolog board with 2 sources. Non-linear editing is great. Very precise and accurate. But you can only do one thing at a time with a mouse. Add a transition, fade aduio, etc. On a linear system I can transition between video sources, and fade out audio all at the same time. That's True "REAL TIME"!!! A computer based system is much slower 3x or more. I did tests timing my tandem edits. Linear vs non-linear. It takes longer to capture and edit. The kicker. The video was not better. Granted as a professional I guarentee a product/project so quality is important. I dislike technology that degrads quality. Don't mistake cool technology over expereince to do it right. I could write pages on how computers crash. So I won't go there. Another reason not to use them for tandem editing. I'm using a P4 2.4 with a gig of ram. And have done some nice edits. ( I think) you can see them here. http://www.petergallistudios.com/skydive/videos.html A few old ones to the most current. Edited on a non-linear. I love non-linear. Using the DV Codec video quality on tv is ok. not quite broadcast but good. A $1500 editing board will make it better. The windows media codec for web is great. But lets thank broad band for the improverment in quality. I'm advacating quality. And want technology and expereince to help move it forward not backwards. Marbrock, you might want to listen to some advice from some of the posts. I like that you have a strong opinion for the camera systems and camera flying. But your level expereince is something to question. Skydiving is a very special sport and takes many years and many jumps to become proficent. Many. Yes, skydiving systems, tandem gear, camera gear have goten better, safer, but a tandem student should not wear a camera. Flying a camera should never become routine. Remeber we are plumting at the earth. Skydiving has progressed over the years, gear and flying abilities. but it still takes hundreds of jumps to become profient. I'm not trying to flame ya, but remeber where your words and opinons might reach. I don't want to hear a jumper with not enough expereince goes in from misrouting of camera equipment, etc from misinformation . We are all still learning and experimenting. Learn and share knowledge. That's what progress is. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  16. If you dzcomers will have me? I'll do a little organizng, Rodger Ponce is the big dog he'll do the big ways. But I'm going to be doing a lot of video jumps to film the event to put a boogie video together. Plans for some cool hybrid with myself and Guano Freefly in the works. Any one that is interested find us at the boogie. Jump in front of the camera when you get a chance. pics from my good friend Chris Salcone. Here are two pics with me without my helmet. 17. you are going to get better photo prints from the photo stylus printers than the c series which are general purpose printers. I have an 820 and 1280 epson photo stylus and when used with ood paper you get "great prints" that should get you a 10-20 year shelf life when framed behind glass. Granted you have a good image to start from. Garbage in garbage out. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  18. I use music match to copy audio files to my computer and convert wav to mps and mps to wav files. www.musicmatch.com www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  19. a top mount also frees up your freedom of movement under canopy to look around under canopy. a side mount is hard to look to the side when it bumbs into the risers. Your learn to get around it, but I prefer to keep my head on a swivel while under canopy. cheers www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  20. no which one? If it is the one on the front page its Kurt Issel. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  21. yes you can make what are called vcd's (video cd) a mpeg compressed video that plays on most dvd players that can play the VCD format. I did one as a test. I edited in premiere 6.5. once you are ready to export do it with the Adobe mpeg encoder with the vcd setting. Once you have the files mpeg-ed you import them into a program like nero burning rom to burn to cd. There are other programs for dvd authoring you can take avi files and have them converted to the proper format for vcd and dvd production. Don't know them all but Pinnacle Impressions will handle it including menu building. I don't know if the menus will work on the vcd but the documentation seems to say it will. cheers www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  22. No don't think so. I haven't had the pleasure of jumping with him. Yet. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  23. ahh, a great idea for the sake of art and documenting that gets in the way of egos and others perception. I really liked it. I hope to see something in the future. It was orginal and captured one of the most unique elements of skydiving. The people. helped me put a name with the face. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  24. I see what you mean. It's a link back to the home page. I'll put one in. Thanks BTW Paul I saw your site from your posts nice work. Are you still updating the section on the "people of your dz"? www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
