    Oh man, if you come to SC without even doing a simple research, or have not really much idea of what you are talking about, I would suggest at least to do a modest search. Let me make clear that this is not an intent to flame you, but really surprised that you have no clue as to what happened in those 2 places I mentioned, despite the fact that is easily searched in the web. Perhaps is your young age, but you can do a simple research for pol pot, or the Cambodia Killing fields, where aprox. 2 Mil people were brutally murdered, and most population was sent to death/slave camps back in the 70's. For Rwanda, just check for Juvenal Habyarimana, Hutu or Tutsi groups. History is not just 10 years past you know? Blue skies.     They all are (or were) led by governments that will cheerfully butcher their own citizens to stay in power. with the exception of population control, or is that what you meant??? You mean, you have not seen anything about Rwanda, Cambodia, and plenty of other examples of brutal mass killings to keep the population in fear and in control? It is hard to believe that you have not, even in those countries you list there has been plenty of recent stories about their governments rounding up their citizens and just execute them...     Yes indeed, but if you try to avoid the fact that countries under Islamic law, (at least those mentioned before), do curtail women's rights and make them second class citizens, and the understandable anguish they may feel that this will become part of their life, I believe they just want to make sure it does not happen to them.     Perhaps no, but it seems to be pretty much in line with other countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, where women have suffered as second class citizens, and this has been sufficiently studied. Maybe, and just perhaps, by a long shot will they be afraid that Islamic law setting in by radical shiites IE: the aforementioned countries?
