  4. Alright...it took me long enough to get it "dialed in" but I feel that this baby is ready to fly...and so it shall this weekend (BEER!) Here's the details... *Large Hawkeye LT with Bonehead TRV-22 d-box. *Cut out holes for the S-video and Firewire ports to prevent removal for dubbing. *2 folded up business cards duct taped to the top cover padding to push camera down and provide more solid padding/anti-vibration. *2 folded up business cards duct taped to the back of the box to press camera forward and prevent movement. *Strap is still attached to camera for shim *Box mounted with mounting hardware and plumbers caulk (not silicone!) added to prevent trapped lines b/w box and helmet - painted and glazed over with clear nail polish for added strength. *Duct tape added to screw ends to prevent (further!) damage to camera. (Thanks Phree!)*Factory installed chin-cup and strap Any opinions/ideas?? I would love to hear them. Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  5. Thanks All!! Mitchy - just PM'ed you again...hope that isn't too much to ask for. Pre-lim interview went well - so who knows....Pyke could be "goin' back to Cali!!" Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  6. Hi all CM skydivers... I'm going through the motions of interviewing for a job in CM and before they talk to me about salary, I would like to know the "real" story with a couple questions below: 1) what is a good "range" salary for 1-3 years experience? 2) what is "typical" rent? (either 1br/1ba, or to share) 3) what is gas going for in So. Cal these days? 4) what are the good suburbs to live in, if not in "town"? Where to definately stay away from? and lastly, 5) how long to Perris/Elsinore from town? PM me if you can - the sooner the better. I believe I'll be on the phone with them very soon this morning. Thank you all, in advance!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  7. DAMMIT....where was this when I ordered my bonehead TRV box 2 months ago?? Seems to be much better suited for a TRV camera, and allows full use of the LCD screen. Oh well - I guess that's next on the list!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  8. I'm aware of Attention Deficit Disorder being considered a "learning disability" among children, but is it considered a disability with respect to skydiving, and elsewhere? I understand that it might not be looked at as a true DIS-ability, but I feel I've been able to accomplish a lot within my life while never realizing I was afflicted with it. Now, it helps explain a lot about my personality, past relationships, and struggles through all of my education. Anyway - my reason for asking is knowing whether or not possible future participation in "disabled" skydiving events would nullify the occasion. Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. 9. Dave, Spoke to Hans on Friday, but have you all thought of block sales yet? I'm up for spending my WHOLE summer at the FARM with jump prices like that!! Can't wait to check it out...either next weekend or after the Monroe Boogie - but I'm there!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  10. Sorry billvon - I wasn't trying to offend anyone. I didn't realize caravan's were turboprops...but then again, I've only jumped from one about 3 times in my life. hopefully the fact that they are built in NZ and shipped over will be cheaper in the long run (given the exchange rate) than what a cessna goes for... that was all I meant! 11. To quote Karl Withers..."Ain't got not gas in it!" The first plane went down off the coast of Hawaii from a lack of fuel. Not quite sure how it happened, but pilot friends of mine have speculated that disruption in the feed from the tanks to the engine may have caused it. I believe the initial report indicated something like that too, or it could have just been a mis-approximation in the consumption (e.g. strong head winds).... Don't know myself, but I hope the Kiwi invasion happens, and smaller "cessna" dzs get a chance to become turboprop dzs!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. 12. I can see my viewfinder fine - no problems there. Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  13. Well, it's been a long drawn out process of having to buy pieces - bit by %*#*ing bit...but after a year - My camera helmet is READY TO FLY!!!(Thanks Joe!!) A Hawkeye with a TRV-22 box and camera. Some final thoughts for opinions at large, please: Strap-ectomy, or not? It fits quite well with the strap as a cushion. My only concern is if I want to pull it out and use it for other uses and such. Thoughts...? Cut out hole for the LCD screen? At the risk of weakening the structure of the box, I have decided not to for now, but I'm not sure how to operate it efficiently for tandem videos and such with functionality of my faders and such, but don't want to have to keep popping it in and out all the time. Thoughts...? 'preechiate cha!!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  14. First of all - I have a HUGE problem with this poll...they're are 16 teams in the play-offs....to only limit the voting to two - well, that's just foolish! Second, SHARKS all the way!! (I'm with Sebazz on that one) Third, I agree with kele...Thrashers should be there - have every right to be, but for whatever reason - Heatley's return spelled doom for them. Fourth - If I *have* to pick a repeat performance - I'd say Devils in 5 at the finals, but since the Sharks are going to do it [hopes/prays]- that is unlikely. Lastly - there is only ONE professional sport worth watching....HOCKEY!!!! heeheheehee Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  15. Quote I looked as big as a house!reply] That's like saying a condo can be mistaken for a mansion - DON'T THINK SO!! Pretty much no way in H$(( you could be "as big as a house"!! Looking forward to flockin' withcha...and now that the camera helmets going - we'll post video of the "barney-dactyl" soon!!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  16. Possibly a non-issue, but my Thought Of The Day was wondering how much of a factor your camera set-up affects your freefall stability? I'm about to top-mount my d-box to my Hawkeye, and want to know if the flat surface on the top of it is going to adversely affect my stability when I learn to go head-down (later, much later!!). I've heard of some camera flyers refer to the "fin" aspect of top-mounted cameras...does that hold any water?? Heck, in looking at some camera set-ups...(even the centerfold of a Parachutist I have in my cube) I wouldn't be surprised if it does have some affect, but perhaps not enough to be noticed by "more experienced" flyers. Care to comment?? Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  17. Yo - ML... What are the dates?? I'm keen to venture back up north of the border for some fun! Sounds like a blast!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  18. Thank Omri - nice locks!! Boy, are you ever growing up since we first started posting together!! For anyone else following this - I spoke to Jim at Arrow Dynamics yesterday and, while he says 'officially' that it's "Buyer Beware", he has not heard of a problem with people baking his helmets like a BH. I tried it last night and it worked fine. Perhaps more baking required, but for now - I'll see how what I've got works. I just followed the BH baking directions available on their website - and no worries. It really helped shape my chip-cup though! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. 19. What up limpy gimp!! Not up to much - just trying to make a living and keep jumping. investing in camera gear so eyes can start havin' mo fun!! What the hell you up to? PM me, or email me with some goss - I'd love to see you down in my neck of the woods! Rumour has it that Mono Uno is in the area, but he keeps to his-self and won't come play with me. I might have to just bus' his ass, den he'll haf to come jumping!!! Have a good week! Latah! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  20. Quade-bi-won, have you heard/seen anything other than the BH d-box working with a TRV-22 (top mount)? (I believe) I've just purchased a Hawkeye L/T and I was going to put my camera on top of it, but I wouldn't want to put it out there without a "shell" of some kind. In looking through the gear pages & BH seems to be the only (?) ones with a "trv-22" compatible covering, but I'm sure they can't be the only ones to have considered the trv-22 as a suitable helmet. All your insight would be appreciated on this topic. As always - Thank you! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  21. Hey gang...long time, no postie! Sorry - been lurkin', jes not postin'. Question - just bought a Hawkeye L/T and I was wondering if you can "bake" it the same as you would a Bonehead?? It fits well enough, but I'd like the sides to come in a bit - any suggestions?? Will the sides come in after use? What about baking the chin cup? Camera set up is almost done (yeah!!)!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  22. Phree...dude - don't do it, man... You're gonna go, you're gonna have a great FLOCK'N time, you're gonna love it the whole time you're there - even more when you remember going...and every skydive is going to ROCK!! So, seriously dude...don't do it. It's too much fun to be had...resist the temptation!! [note the sarcasm!!] This thread reminds me of a great movie quote: "He'll keep callin...keep callin...I'll go over there and he'll make me feel bad. Forget it - I'll go, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go..... [turns on ignition - revs engine....turns off ignition, gets out of car - walk away] [walks back to car...jumps up&down...gets in car]" Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
