Which part of the dive do you enjoy more?
NoShitThereIWas replied to SkydiveMonkey's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I like pulling those 16-20 way chunks out of the casa and being the last one out of the airplane so you get to watch the whole formation plane out on the hill. Jumping out of helicopters isn't too bad either ... Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say." -
Disneyland rocks. I am pretty stoked that my little one, myself and my mom are going on Mother's Day weekend and then again a few days later with all of our friends from the DZ at SMB. We are flying the otter down and then spending the next day on Catalina island with all of our rugrats. It will be some fun relative work for sure, should be berry interesting. Have a blast Deuce and post some pics when you get back! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Well I double-checked the statistic for those who are interested. According to my Homicide Investigations professor (30 years on the job) if you are married and then murdered, there is a 75% chance you were knocked off by your spouse. Oh boy, something to contemplate the next time we choose a marriage partner. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

It's all about the Monterey Love. Yeah Baby!!! Feel the LOVE. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say." -
Although I have not jumped there in about 6 months, my favorite DZ is Skydive Hawaii. The people there are rad, they have a King Air and seem to be very "up jumper" friendly. The other 2 DZs are nice too though. Drop Zone I think caters mostly to tandems and has a C-402. PISC also has a King Air. Wish I was going with you!!! BTW, if you are an experienced jumper, you don't need to wear flotation gear. Stay away from the trees and land in the upper right quadrant of the field. Also, there are no drop zones in Kona Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Whooo Hoooo!!! I finally made Chop Chop's weeklies!!! Okay I have to admit, some serious fun was being had here. Rad pictures Chop Chop. We'll have to create more carnage next weekend. Except next time we'll try and avoid the bloody noses. Poor Josh I think we need to get Tom Berg and Jester out on some more freak dives too. Thanks for posting all the pics, you rock! Date published: Saturday 19 April 2003 Parachutist dies in accident A serviceman died during a parachute jump at RAF Weston-on-the-Green, near Bicester, on Friday. The 28-year-old, who was based at RAF Brize Norton, was taking part in a jump with members of the RAF Sport Parachuting Association when the accident happened at about 1pm. RAF spokesman Squadron Leader David Rowe said it was not yet known what had gone wrong, but that a full inquiry would be held. He said the man who died was an experienced parachutist. He was taken by ambulance to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, where he was pronounced dead. Mr Rowe said the man would be named once his next of kin had been informed. He added: "Our thoughts are obviously with the man's family and friends." You can also go to: http://www.thisisoxfordshire.co.uk/oxfordshire/news/NEWS6.html Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Yet another personality test-Animal Magnetism
NoShitThereIWas replied to RevJim's topic in The Bonfire
Hmmm, mine said: Jen, you're a Tiger in the wild world of love. Grrrr. Go get 'em, Tiger! You know what you want and how to get it. And with your powerful stealth and impressive attitude — who are we to tell you otherwise? You're a natural predator in the lush jungle of love. With plenty of poise, power, and perfect timing, you'll charm the pants off any target you set your sights on. You've got beauty and grace that's irresistible to most who cross your path. Your territory is so well marked, it's not surprising that you sometimes can be a bit of a loner instead of hanging with the pack. I can deal with that ... -
OMG, I am so happy I read this thread because there were a couple times that this had happened to me and I was a bit concerned for my sanity. I am wondering if it is the same thing as others have experienced ... I would be asleep and in my dream almost feel like my soul was separating or floating out of my body; but my body was so relaxed that it almost felt paralyzed, like I could not move anything and out of control. Part of my psyche just wanted to roll with it since it was an almost cool feeling and the other part of was scared to death that I wouldn't be able to come back. So this has happened to other people too? It has happened to me about 3 times in my life and each time was scary. I wondered if I let myself just go would I ever come back? There is a high statistical probability when a person is murdered that it is by someone who knew the victim and even greater that it was done by a spouse, ex-lover or significant other. Who would have any motive to kill this woman and her unborn son? I can't remember the actual percentage from my criminal justice class but it significantly HIGH when a spouse is murdered by their significant other. Besides, how many husbands go fishing by themselves on Christmas Eve when their wife at 7.5 months pregnant is home alone? Then to find out he was having an affair, took out a life insurance policy on her, sold their car, etc. When the bodies were found in the water there was no doubt in my mind it was Laci Peterson and her baby. However, I would have been willing to wager money that he was guilty from the time I heard the story of her disappearance and his supposed "alibi". Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." I can't sleep either. I AM burning the midnight oil trying to get through this nightmarish physics exam from hell but I also can't help but have other disturbing thoughts after everything that happened this weekend. It bothers me thinking about FreeflyHol and other thoughts of what was also feared today to be too close a call for one of our tandemmasters and his passenger. Today was not a great day for news. It's enough to keep me awake. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

7 jumps total. 2 videos, 3 AFFs, 1 coach and 1 super fun sitfly jump with Chop Chop, the Anvil, Big D and a few jumpers visiting from Taft. Crossed the 600 jump mark. Whew hoo!!! Not too shabby of a weekend... Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Would anyone be interested in making a Holly Way in Perris the weekend of May 3-4??? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

High-- Meeting Holly at the Blue Water Boogie and instantly thinking I made a new "real" friend. My first thought when I met her was yeah, our sport needs more cool chicks like this. Low-- Hearing the news today from Chop Chop and reading the thread in the incident forum and knowing that DZ.com will feel a little lonlier now that she's gone. Blown away I am ... Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Well I just heard the news and I am in shock. Holly, you were the brightest shining star of a woman I have ever met in this sport. Pure, wholesome and genuine. In the short time I knew you, your attractive beauty shined from within. Your smiles, hugs and spirit were contagious and filled the room. We were just starting to get to know each other and I am devastated to hear this news. Our sport needs more women like you who kick ass. You will be missed friend. I am so sad. Blue skies forever FreeflyHol. I will never forget your smile. Funny girl... Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Dude, No whining!!! J/K Hot weather is a good thing. Some suggestions of mine would be, take vitamins, maybe some energy pills like Ginsana or Fatburners or something with caffeine (I took those when I used to pack parachutes at Hollister in 100 degree heat and had twice the stamina to get through those hot miserable days which made me twice the $$$), wear light clothing in light colors, drink tons of water, eat good healthy foods like fruits and veggies and allow your body to acclimate by not overdoing it the first day or so. Bring a comfy beach chair to kick back and relax in and stay in the shade. I used to feel fatigued when I got off the plane in Hawaii from Northern Cali, lots of humidity. But Perris shouldn't be too bad. Hope to see you there! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Instructors How Do YOU Teach PC In Tow
NoShitThereIWas replied to sducoach's topic in Safety and Training
HI CRW Mike, Your response has made me re-evaluate the cutaway before reserve deployment and raises some good points. But what do you think the chances are that if the pilot chute was already in tow it may have loosened up the pin a little bit and then the activation of the reserve parachute could jostle the container enough so the main comes out too? I have tried to picture all the scenarios and really am not sure which method of teaching is "the right one". Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say." -
Okay, I trust you but I still don't get it. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Instructors How Do YOU Teach PC In Tow
NoShitThereIWas replied to sducoach's topic in Safety and Training
For a PC in tow, I teach cutaway and pull the reserve as long as there is sufficient altitude to do both. I think it is easier for students to remember that if they pulled anything out to just go through the sequence of using your handles in order. The only exception is the horseshoe. If they have a premature main activation i.e. pin pops out, risers/control lines coming out in freefall, they did not pull anything out themselves. In that case I teach use your handles in order. Pilot chute first then cutaway handle then reserve. In all other cases if you did not pull anything out, go straight to the reserve. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
